I am not sure when this started, but it might have been with iOS 17.0. I can no longer assign a simple color scheme for a contact's initials "circle" like I used to prior to iOS 17. I get where some might like the wow factor using a photo, memoji, or monogram, but the simple color scheme made it easier to scan through Message conversations.
Does stolen device protection have any effect on the battery backup?

Hi, thank you for the great video as always, I use your recommended settings all my families iPhones. This time the only one I do not have is Emergency Alerts, is this a US only setting as I am in the UK?
Zooming in I can see you also have Public Safety Alerts (I do not have this one either) (does that mean the UK Gov don’t care about our safety 😀🤷🏼♂️)
That’s one reason, I never used an Analog-Wristwatch, because of the numbers, like You’ve mentioned, it somehow a lot faster to process the exact time. And with an analog wristwatch, if a half a minute (30 sec) is on the watch, usually the minute hand, is never exactly right in the middle between 2 minutes.
Please always explain why we should use a particular setting. For some of these recommendations, we don’t know the impact of the setting change.

It what makes your iPhone a smart phone
You hinder your phone with turning a lot of the things off
And really doesn’t save that much battery if not barely
I used his setting for 3 months
Then reset my phone to factory and use it for 3 months my phone was smarter and actually doing better on battery

hey guys, thanks for your informative videos. Im having an issue with my iPhone 13, Im getting the orange dot when im on the phone. I have already gone into my privacy settings under mic and camera and shut all off and it is still there. Any suggestions would be much appreciated . Thanks

I recently updated to 17.4.1 with the option to add apps from different marketplaces but they do the bare minimum to explain how to do it, and when you do try it just downloads it as a file not a app. Still learning

Sidenote: You can create any custom tune through GarageBand on your iPhone and export as a tone. Just a small FYI if you want unique alerts and ringtones....

Emergency alerts don’t seem to be available on 14 pro max either that not available in UK.

We EU users using 17.4.1 have no new alert, still Extreme/Severe Alerts only, Why? Thanks for sharing.

Figured this would be easier than an 🍎 forum…… I’ve recently purchased my first iPad. Already have iPhone and MacAir laptop. My question is do I need to turn iCloud Backup on all 3 devices or not. If I do, does this ‘triple’ the data stored in the cloud. I already pay extra to get the 200GB. iPhone says I’m at around 100GB used currently. Thanks for any help. Clearly nowhere near as tech smart as our friend making these super informative videos. ❤

I don’t have that action button in my settings. And on the last update, my battery options didn’t separate like some of the others I’ve seen. Kind of weird to me.
0:08 I don't have "Stolen device protection" on as it doesn't realize I'm at home and has to have the stupid 1 hour countdown at home too. so then I turned it off.
3:05 about the new standard notifications, so I changed it to the old Nokia sms sound, I think it was a bit fun to use, you can enter any one you want or buy a second one from iTunes
You have to literally tell it when n where to not annoy you with the 1 hr time delay in the find my app. By going to the specific device n where it says let you know when then add your home or other places you don’t want that annoying time delay.

I have iphone 14 pro, and the 17.4 version, but yet some of the "buttons" you describe I don't have! For example, the "action" button. 😶
This video dkesnt explain well like the other one I watched. I also do t have some of these settings. With the playlist shluld mention must subscribe to apple music. Loved other video but this one confused me.
I had to collaborate with myself in order to add to and move songs around on an existing playlist-every playlist thus far. So I collaborated with myself, which added my big head on every song. I then said I no longer wanted to collaborate with myself and my big head was gone and I could then add new songs. I have an iPhone 14.
I hope this gets fixed. I’m having an identity crisis!
If I’m purchasing a used device, how can we remove the apple I.D without waiting for an hour? Can it be removed via the iCloud website by erasing the whole device?
this update 17.4.1 has crippled iwatches... it now rapidly depletes the iwatch's battery and watch wont update to wos 10.4. Any suggestions? I've tried about everything at this point.
You guys have been doing an excellent job. But the compass directional arrow in maps still works even with it turned off in the system services. And instead of pushing back back back. If you hold it down you can then select which page you would like to go.
Also if you press and hold the scroll bar to the right you can drag it down instead of swipe swipe swipe

It is exclusive to iPhones 14 and newer, those are the phones that have satellite communication.

Do you have to have significant locations on to even enable this? This is why I didn’t use this when it came out is because I keep significant locations off.

Phone works as intended when you keep your settings as is
Not turning off every thing and doesn’t even save that much battery if at all

Canadians do not have the option of toggling anything to do with emergency alerts. We just do not have that option at the bottom of the notifications menu.

I have a question, "Satellite Connection" under Privacy & Security > Location Services > System Services, It is active in the background and tracking location but for what purpose? Isn't it only supposed to be active when an SOS Call is made? Is there any negative adverse effect to turning "Satellite Connection" off under that system services menu other than the obvious one that sattelite calling wont be available in case of an emergency? "Satellite Connection" isn't used to improve GPS for apps such as Google Maps or Waze, Correct?
I mean you can turn it off it doesn’t do anything unless it’s activate without signal I work in the road I see it often but it’s not a thing
Actually a lot things they say makes sense but isn’t how the phone runs alit of the stuff he doesn’t with that makes your smart phone pretty stupid
Remember none of your personal data leaves your iPhone it’s to make your smart phone a smart phone turning off all that stuff doesn’t save you battery
You don’t need to turn off anything your iPhone knows when to use these things by not having it on at all it’s just blank
Me and my IT class put all this stuff to the test and doesn’t hold water ….but make sense in the sense of if its on it’s draining power right! That’s just part of it it only uses it when it needs it don’t make your phone dumb

My phone doesn’t have the number 14 in settings in notifications, just has a list of apps and ends with no settings like you show
I tried turning this setting off after … it’s impossible once you activate it. It required Find My Phone to be turned on and now I can’t turn that back off either.
0:37 obviously I've just tried this and it still lets me use my bankcard under my pin number even with full protection on not only that I can unlock the phone with my passcode and then use my passcode to turn off the protection mode so what's the point?🤷🏻♂️
And what if the Face ID camera ends up being damaged? Good luck accessing your phone.

I turned my stolen device protection off! It wouldn’t recognize my HOME as a significant Location, so it kept giving me a 1 Hour delay before changing Any security settings.
For some reason my Location isn’t recognizing my phone being At HOME It always says it’s 10 feet away or more . No idea why.
I didn’t have anything grayed out though, so it wasn’t an issue turning it off.
Not sure why it would do that.

This update brought me a major issue! I can not find a solution to. Seemingly at random, when my phone is turned sideways or when ads appear. My phones maximum volume is lowered by at least half! Even though my phone shows volume at max, the only way to fix it (sometimes) is to pause the media turn off the screen, turn the phone back on, open the media and hit play, if it didn’t work, I have to try again. Please someone help!
As a cyber security professional I am not a fan of side loading apps. I don’t want apps that have not been thoroughly checked. I hope I am wrong, but I am concerned this capability will be a vector for some really bad things.

This feature pissed me off so much. Didn’t realize it was turned on after an update. I went to upgrade my iPhone and then I was going to reset the phone and had to wait an hour! I had to leave soon. Because those cell phone stores always end up being about an hour’s long. So, I had to wait that time but come back the next day. Such a pain. Don’t really care for stolen device protection.
help, it was enabled by default after i updated my system and now i cant deactivate it. i am at home but everytime i wait 1 hour it says i am not at home and asks me to wait another hour
