About the blocky/minecraft art style, you argue that this style doesnt look good/shouldnt be displayed in a movie theater for 90 minutes. I think you are looking at this idea from the perspective of an avarage movie goer and what he thinks should and shouldnt be displayed in a movie theater, when in reality kids that watch this videos on youtube and are familiar with the style would love to see it in the big screen, and wouldnt think is weird/looks bad at all
Yeah but the idea of producing something good means making something that appeals to multiple demographics, not just pandering to children who are already heavily invested.
The idea of Steve being the antagonist that you talked about has already been done on youtube really well in my opinion, just not targeted towards kids. Its called mob squad.
I think the only reason why 3D animated Minecraft movie seems like a worse idea than 3D animated Lego movie is the fast that we haven't seen anything like it. As you said - there were Lego animations before the Lego movie, but nothing to the same scale. If a good enough job was to be done, it could very well be animated in a believable way
The Mountain is something I remember greatly from my childhood. It greatly represented the first night of a Minecraft player. I feel like something going in that direction would go well.
Personally I feel like it should take the approach doll movies(Barbie, Bratz, monsters high etc) take where they kinda model a way to play the game and create you own narrative. Like sure yt has covered that niche, but a movie could do it with way less screaming and brain rot. I'd also be cool if it modelled how to deal with issue kids in online spaces have (creeps, scammers, abusive relationships).
i think it’s a little disingenuous to compare the original fallen kingdom animation to the standards of an official movie visually. it’s part 1 of a multi year series of music videos that took many years to create so the aesthetic improved a ton with each one up to the most recent with an absolutely beautiful sequence with a warden. not only has the animation itself improved over the years within the community but the updates over the years to the game itself expanded the building possibilities drastically since then. to see what i mean best look at what BDubble0 builds on hermit craft or his personal worlds. on the point of comparing visuals and facial expressions look no further than element animations animations. they started out as a small studio of fans making great animations and got hired by mojang to make the official animations for minecraft updates. best example will always be their most recent work which right now is their animation for the announcement of the creaking that was shown during minecraft live 2024
