What memories THIS brings back! Newly married, building our young family, I was living at probably my favorite duty station ever, Reagan was President, and all was right with the world. Back then my wife and I made a _point_ of watching shows like _Simon & Simon, Magnum PI, The A Team, Hill Street Blues, The Fall Guy, Knight Rider,_ the list was endless. And it might as well have been 10 days ago, that's how fresh the memories are.

It's like the futuristic movie Demolition Man when they listened to old commercial jingles on the radio because they were great little tunes. That movie prediction is coming true with the high nostalgia value of television shows and their intros. Every once in a while I have an old jingle in my head that I have to try to figure out which show it was from. Today it was Simon & Simon! 😊

Nothing like being alive in the 80’s. Watching this show was the greatest as a kid. To make it that much better, I was born & raised in San Diego so you can imagine the pride. They don’t make them like they used to. I miss these days. Can we please go back?

Oh man, you remember the 80s? Remember the waterbeds, and the clothes that would change colors when you touched them? I had my own version of those at the time. I could fall asleep in a regular bed, only to wake up in my own waterbed. Then, I could put on my magic white shorts that could change colors: The front would be yellow, and the back would be brown!
Couldn't have said it any better. I came on here after reminiscing about old shows, and thinking, would I ever find anything about the 2000s I might one day consider nostalgic? And my answer is no. Nothing. The 80s were just plain fun and cool. Everything was popping suddenly. Home computers became a thing. We had great music plus still a bit of 50s, 60s & 70s music being played commonly because ppl of those decades were still very active. TV almost always ended on a fun positive even though at times unrealistic note. It was just so much more fun. The perfect time to be a kid and young adult.

We're nostalgic for the 80s today and gloss over how it wasn't perfect then. I don't know about you, but as much as I liked the 80s, I'd still rather live in the 2020s.
Two kinds of people back in the mid-80's: Those that switched over to Cheers at 9pm on NBC after Magnum PI on CBS, or those that stayed with CBS after Magnum to watch Simon and Simon. You can guess which one was me.
I rarely ever missed an episode, I was fortunate enough to meet Gerald Mcraney (? On spelling) he was signing autographs at the World Of Wheels in Atlanta. He was very good with the fans.
this is why the 80s will never be beat for tv. it was fun, didn't take itself seriously and had kick ass intro themes like this. TV is too serious today and uses violence and sex to sell shows
I agree, Simon & Simon was GREAT!! It didn't need sex & violence to sell the show. Jeannie Wilson (who played Janet) was sexy as hell. She didn't have to walk around half naked to get you to watch the show.
completely agree.....until it started to take a moral hand to the show, like macgyver did too. rather than keeping it as a zany detective show which was fun and light hearted, it became a moral story trying to demonstrate some moral value each episode, thats when i lost interest in both simon and simon and macgyver.
I concur! I used to watch this when I was a kid! Loved the light-hearted, joking parody of this show! So many cop and detective shows (such as Law and Order) take things So seriously that it is Downright Depressing! I for one simply want to escape and get away from the heavy hardships of real life after a hard day!
Such an abundance of good series in the 80s! "Simon & Simon", "The Fall Guy", "The A-Team" and "Scarecrow and Mrs King" were my personal favourites as a kid growing up in Germany in the 80s. Plus "The Cosby Show". And all of them had such great theme songs. This surely is one of the best theme songs ever.

The 60s were cool as a kid, and we lived a comfortable lifestyle (my dad was a developer in LA at the time); but there was so much social tumult at the time it was also a neurotic decade for us. 80s were a different story and nobody had it better than my wife and me and our kids.
Great series! Never missed an episode. Both Mr. Parker and Mr. McRaney had great chemistry as fictional brothers on this show. Mr. Parker is now a novelist and Mr. McRaney is still acting.
Thursday Night Magnum PI, Simon and Simon, Knots Landing, ,, Friday night Dallas and Falcon Quest, the one thing about having Parkinson Disease and mad cow disease ( memory lost) I have forgot what happened on most of these shows, so it is like watching them for the firs time for me

I'm going to watch the whole series soon. I love going back to the 80s and watching these old series' - I watched Moonlighting last year, and after each episode, I would follow it with a full episode of Johnny Carson. Then I would watch a classic boxing match, like Leonard, Hearns, Hagler or Duran and it was like living back in the day. So awesome!

This is one of the best shows ever on t.v. I actually think it got better and better the longer it was on. The later seasons are really good and funny.
Simon & Simon was a very well developed, and thought out TV program. Beats most “Reality” TV to hell, which just celebrates bad behavior, ignorance, and unnecessary drama all for the sake of ratings. Other than some of the programming on the “History Channel”, Reality Tv has no discernible plot or purpose. Just sugary brain swill for the simple masses.

Mike Post and Pete Carpenter were responsible for most of the series themes back in the late 70s/early 80s.

The theme is so catchy you don't mind that the opening credits go on forever.

This was an awesome show. If I'm not mistaken, this ran immediately after Magnum PI and one of my fav episodes is when the 2 crossed over when Morgan Fairchild conned Huggins out of a fortune from a charity auction. Anyone remember RipTide?
This is one of the best shows ever on t.v. I actually think it got better and better the longer it was on. The later seasons are really good and funny.

Simon & Simon was a very well developed, and thought out TV program. Beats most “Reality” TV to hell, which just celebrates bad behavior, ignorance, and unnecessary drama all for the sake of ratings. Other than some of the programming on the “History Channel”, Reality Tv has no discernible plot or purpose. Just sugary brain swill for the simple masses.
