    pardon the length of this post here, but i believe the importance of vodka lies in its water source, with it's base adding some faint characteristics, a lot of Nordic and Scandinavian distillers have amazing untouched glacial water sources and each source comes into contact with different rock formations producing interesting mineral waters, so if the ethanol is masked through proper distillation or freezing really experience the mineral taste and the "Snow" sensation when you are drinking straight vodka, I recommend "Chopin" Potato vodka, it has the unique silky potato feel but also comes from a good water source,
    an interesting experiment would be to take Chopin, Reyka, and Belvedere with high quality sources and distillation processes and compare it side by side to more mass produced generic spirits like Titos and Smirnoff
