Well...how did it come to this???
How is it that I'm now building this extension on my own???
All will be revealed...
Thank you for watching.
I would love to labour for you. but I'm in my 70's, tired, and an ocean away. I did this work with my Dad as a young guy., I miss it. Your videos bring back memories. Thumbs up.
12:56 I have a similar insulation knife, a simple tool but a godsend. I made a sheath for mine using some folded aluminium sheet along with a belt loop, so if i want, i can have it on my toolbelt.
Can you number this series please? I feel I have missed some you are a lot further on than I was expecting! Can you explain compo? Great videos - I am not a builder! 😂
I think he means cement or donald duck aka muck in the trade!!
Hello Phil, hope you're well. I'll set up all of the videos in this series in a playlist and send you the link on here. Compo is a slang word for mortar. I think it comes from it being a composition of sand and cement.
Looks great! Basement build will look great after the stairs are filled.
And that video isn't far off at all!
I honestly find i work better alone other than a selection of subcontracted trades who I've worked with for years.
Im quite particular about how i want things done, site tidiness and time keeping, and so few labourers are ever up to it.
Yes Paul, we know!
Excellent job ....love the humour added in there.
Thank you, Pete! Appreciate that mate.
I take it there wasn't a pun intended with the septic tanker driver then? Will have to remember that one. Cracking work as always.
There was a pun intended! He just didn't see it! Very embarrassing to say the least!
I’ve laboured for a bricklayer before on my own extension, bloody hard graft but good fun. A bit too old for it now but I’m sure we’d have a laugh. Good progress on your own Adam, it’s definitely coming on, pity about the shitty weather, Autumn is coming fast. I hope you had a good break with your family, see you next week!
It certainly is, Simon! We'll be scraping the windscreens before we know it! Thank you for watching yet again mate, hope you're well.
Great vid, you are good fun, i loved the bee keepers hat and broom handles hahaha
Cheers man! Hope you're well.
You'll get more done on your own 😊
Oh I don't know mate, Harry was a great help.
@@mrabuilders6723 get mick back
@samsungcrossland2036 he's found greener grass, mate!
really nice job you were mostly on your own ....
Thank you, lee.
All the best to Harry, he just needs to make sure his placement as part of the apprenticeship is with a quality company not just a box ticking exercise for them. With your links to Rich it would be well worth him keeping in with you guys in the meantime. Eggs in many baskets and all that.
Adam’s going to launch a solo career. Your presenting is spot on
Haha! I'm not sure about that, James! Thank you though mate, take care.
Great video
Thank you, Robert. Hope you're well, mate.
Love the mr Whippy ring tone Adam. 😁
Hope to see you at the show this afternoon
Hello mate, we're not there till tomorrow I'm afraid. Hope you have a great time.
@@mrabuilders6723 sorry I'll miss it tomorrow, here now and picked up some new tools
@TheWebtuts nice one mate. What did you get?
@@mrabuilders6723 I got a new Makita 18v combi drill set and GN900SE nail gun plus additional free 5 and 3AMP batteries and 8m tape measure. Love the freebies 😁 hope you're day went well look forward to the video footage if you managed to get some.
sorry to hear your coping alone .... rope the customer in they seem fairly handy .... basement build going great ....
Great work as always Adam, hopefully you'll find someone to help you out soon. I'd work for you in a heartbeat but I'm too far away. I like your "shrine" to Oasis with the Definitely Maybe poster and Liam & Noel funko pops! 😀
It's pronounced "shrrriiiiiiiinnnnnneeeee"!!!! Haha! Cheers mate! I was wondering if anyone would notice that! Thanks again, Pete. Hope you're well.
@@mrabuilders6723 So glad they're getting back together, hopefully they can refrain from smashing each other over the head with guitars for the next several months! 😁
@PeteH.90 haha! Fingers crossed mate!
Adam, how did you just make bricklaying interesting....again..?? Looking like you will need a lid on that job as the weather is turning for the worse.
There's not many people who'd class it as interesting! Haha! Cheers man, hope you're well.
Things you do for a free wallet 😂😂
And the money they pay us for doing it, don't forget that!
Sometimes nice on your own for a change , get more done ! 😆😆😆
Hi!
What is the difference between a carpenter and a builder in the UK?
In NZ they are virtually the same, although "carpenter" is now an old-fashioned term here and rarely heard these days. Builders here do not do bricklaying either.
Cheers, Phil.
I recently slated an entire roof (1500 natural slates), built the brick chimney and did the lead flashing all by myself, as labourer got a job he’d been after for ages with a utility company:-(
Fair play mate. The sense of achievement is great isn't it but it's bloody hard work!
@@mrabuilders6723 yes it was bloody hard work!
50+ kg is heavy man, nice job 👍🏼
I got to be honest I thought it was more like 80! Think I need to get down the gym! Hope you're well, mate.
I reckon Matt should be your labourer and Richard take on Harry as his carpentry apprentice.....problem solved!!! lol.
Adam all I see when I see that fireplace is the bare internal around it when you were working on it 😅
Do you remember when cement came in 55kg bags(1cwt)
Thankfully I don't mate!
Yes I remember and the price has gone up and the weight down
UA-cam Timelapse makes light work 😜
Haha! It makes it all look so easy doesn't it!
@@mrabuilders6723 Yay! Good luck it’s going good. Hopefully you get some help.
adam i would offer to help you out but alas im a retired gynacologists laborour, not too good at mixing compo but a dab hand with a razor and a wet wipe.
ill be at the tool fair on thursday so wont get chance to say hello but ill leave you whats left of my peroni on the wall outside, have a good week fella
A man with life skills! Like it! Haha! Cheers mate.
Im only local if ever you need a hand? Or an opportunity arises. Qualified bricklayer 5 who was disillusioned and became a gas engineer for 13 years
Ah cheers man, appreciate that. Where you based then?
I thought kendo was something you mix with tonic water and ice Adam 😂
Haha! Now you're talking!
Watching these vid make me want to be a builder lol
Beekeepers XD
Could have been worse with the septic tank guy, you could have said 'move my van, you've got to be shitting me' :D
Don’t you put floor joists in
Not yet mate, they'd be in the way.
@@mrabuilders6723 ahhh true
Watching how much you get done in a day raises an old beef of mine with builders. If you want (let’s say) a pygmy wall around your garden and get a builder in to quote..he’ll suck through his teeth and say “I can do that for 3 grand mate!” However, when you price up the materials (including say 600 bricks at one pound each) you’ll realise it only costs him at most 900 quid so he is on over 2 Grand labour. Watching the rate of brick laying, your wall takes ONE DAY to construct…Add a day for shallow footings and another day for finishing up and you’ll see his rate of labour is like 700 pounds per day. You’d be better off having the wall built by a solicitor, at least in cost per hour terms. Yet, don’t all builder types bleat a modest income. Now, ok, this is all rather generic, not an actual quote, but it is generally ball park what you get. Imma building my own pygmy wall….
Are you struggling for staff. Im sure someone could make a few quid and learn a few things working for you and rich and matt. 👍👍👍
We could definitely do with a recruitment drive! How's things mate? Hope you're well.
@mrabuilders6723 I'm good mate. Back in the day you'd of had lads fighting for a good labouring job. How times have changed eh. Hope this rain isn't hampering progress🤪
Never mind all that you coming to vegas???
Haha! How are you mate?! Mate I'd love too but I've no chance this month.
just started watching unless im mistaken it seems you had the same idea .....
Does the insulation knife come with a sheath. Sounds like it should for safety reasons Adam! It’ll end your piano playing days mate. Not taking piss honest! 😅😅😅
Mate I know you're not! No it didn't, I may have to make one!
That was a foul joke to use on the Septic tank man!!!
Haha! I see what you did there!
Where’s mick ?
He's left mate. We did a video on it, feel free to check it out.
About the only thing going for you that day was the weather.
Brown Eric Clark Barbara Perez Christopher
To name but a few...
did you tell him you wasn't giving him no shit .
Haha! That may have gone down a bit better! Hope you're well, mate.
Oh dear a bricklayer having to load out his own work 🤓👍but you are very through
I know! It shouldn't be allowed!
Price of them wallets, I’ll pass .
Don’t you mean kato from Inspector Clouseau 😂😂
Haha! Dam! Should've thought of that one!
Just got off a video about demographics before seeing this latest episode and the future looks scary with the workforce dwindling due to lack of working age people.
Too true, mate.
Don’t open a panda farm Adam they just eat shoots and leaves
Are you taking the pi$$ 😂 didn't the penny drop with him 😀
I don't know whether it totally went over his head and took it to heart or it was the 7th time he'd heard it that day! Either way I think I'm off his Christmas card list!
@mrabuilders6723 That's hilarious 😂 if I'd of been working with you I wouldn't of been able to keep a straight face 🤣
Would of loved to of been closer I'd of come give you a hand for nothing other than gaining abit more experience in brick laying as i really want to do my own PP extention, am sure you ll find someone who isn't a bee keeping accident waiting to happen 😂 😉
You're welcome anytime, mate.
I got spme tickets mate, i got robbed 700 quid for 'in demand' standing tickets
Ah mate, I feel for you I really do. It's a complete rip off and a kick in the balls for the fans. At least you're going though. Which gig?
@@mrabuilders6723 it is mate, 6 bloody hours of hell kicked from the que, im a bot and so on. by some miracle i got back in and glowing 'in demand' seconds to dicide, its really wrong, bit better than viatouttout i guess. Edinburough 8th aug, would of prefered wembley, usually closer the time the resale ones drop in price, as genuine people cant go and resale for face value
Shame you lost your labourers, Hard to find good reliable labourers that actually want to work these days..
It certainly is mate. Been struggling for ages.
So you're closing the Llama farm? Shame.
Unfortunately mate. They came, they grazed, they left!
Crikey Brad = I’m genuinely concerned. If you over do it then you will be in a spot of bother. Please look after yourself. Regards mike
Mike!!! How are you mate? How's the house? Don't worry about me, Mike! I'll just plight forward as always! Hope you're well, mate.
@@mrabuilders6723 I’m currently nursing a bad back,. Converted the basement at my lads salon before and after Christmas then we moved! After several bollockings from the wife and the Chiropractor I’ve had a few weeks off. Celebrated our 50 wedding anniversary at our new home last Sunday so there was plenty to do. Hopefully restart and get things straight for Christmas. Thus please look after yourself. Take care Mike
did Isaac spit in your face on his last day 😄 🦙
Haha! Hello said it was a sneeze!
