I think he's not playing with people, he's doing his work to make a point. He clearly hates hypocrisy and how people are denying the main issue, that being the Back Alley Market and how meat-eating is supposedly supposed to be banned, yet goes ignored while a large scale human(or animal in this case) trafficking operation is allowed to exist despite the fact that meat-eating in society is clearly manageable through eggs, medicines, and other proteins. At least in the anime version, He clearly came up with the drug not just to fund his research, but to expose things by exploiting the market, making things way more obvious. Somebody else already made a great point that Louis is overlooking the root issue of people murdering and eating each other but general reminder that Louis almost became a victim of this himself. He was raised as literal livestock for carnivores to eat in the Black Market before his father saved him and yet he hasn't spoken out against this even once? He's only focusing on Kines when it's such a small byproduct of this issue and similar products exist, including one produced by Deshico himself. I have no doubt that Louis is genuinely trying to right the wrongs of his world but his inexperience and his exposure to corrupt parties like his father (who only cared that Kines was produced by Azuki's family and nothing more) really shines through here with him thinking that exposing Kines will make any real difference and Deshico was right to call him out on it. The lesson of the day: as long as something is immoral, illegal or taboo or w/e term you want to use, there will always be people out there trying to get around it. You can't stop it.
You're right, actually. (SPOILER AHEAD and a rant about the last manga chapters) Louis knows this, last chapters of the manga he literally says on live TV that the problem is that no one is bothering to acknowlodge the black market and illegal meat consumption. Society can't ignore it, can't just say "It's illegal now, no ifs ands or buts" and expect no one to speak up or fall in the cracks. Carnivores NEED meat, expecting all of them to never eat it is a herbivore point of view, it doesn't work, and their society needs to get that. So yeah, you're right, Louis doesn't really get the root issue, but later he does, and it's really cool to see, really excited to see it animated.
My argument against the "hypocrisy" is that carnivores eating meat is supply and demand it's a problem that has been known for a long time, but Kines is a plot by bad actors designed to sow chaos. I know that Louis doesn't know the full extent at this time but Deshico's argument smells like shit from a mile away.
Well if anything can be explained by the supply and demand it's easy to implement every idea from mostly innocent like killing for sexual pleasure to lets say torture and rape for fun. Your argument have same hypocrisy as Dechico's
It kinda is. Deshico doesn't believe an integrated society works (in Beastars, integrated society has only been a thing for 90 years, not all that well proven), and wants to see if he's right by making sure it goes up in flames and gathering data on how it burns. He's a scientist, a chemist, surely, but also a sociologist, he wants to know if he's right or wrong, we as the audience know it's bullshit, but he wants to see it for himself
Lil dude has a point tho. If you can drink it w/o acting up ten fine. But if they do, it could make some police work much easier. If they question sum1they coukd just gice him that drink & see if they have said the truth or not about eating other animals. Even if the preditor isnt connected to that one case, labs might have a way to find out who they ate. Also, as a side note. I am surpised thst there arent as many mixed as there are normal animals.
Well lil dude works for a purity obsessed organization that murders mixed animals and that attacked a mixed kids kindergarten with bats in the manga. So society probably is not that accepting. And maybe his motives are not that law abiding since the drink is addictive and spiked with a drug made of herbivore blood and bones. Like sold by street peddlers to get new young black market consumers kind of illegal.
You're right, actually, the problem is that, well, most carnivores kinda need to eat meat, to an extent, the root issue is simple. Society doesn't wanna talk about it, "Meat is illegal, so one eats it, if they do, it's a horrible and irredemable crime that can never be seen as anything other than the worst ever thing and they'll get arrested" is bullshit. If society regulated it, there'd be much less of a problem, but they just criminalize and stigmatize it until it boils over. Deshico doesn't actually care for police work either, he thinks an integrated society is messed up, and wants to see if he's right by throwing some fire and seeing how it can burn, but that's just my interpretation, Beastars is a fucking philosophical wild ride (no pun intended) for a shonen
Hmmm.... As someone with access to Civet coffee beans, what's your opinion on the flavour of Civet-enhanced coffee compared to a regular, non-Civet enhanced coffee? Is it really that much better than standard coffee, or is it just a small difference?
@@AnimeFanNo3 unfortunately I do not have the answer to that because my grandma sent us the coffee beans when I was very young so I was not allowed to have coffee
He's not entirely right in his conclusion. Heck, he says it himself, there are elements that remain for a long time that this stuff might activate, in the case of people like Legoshi and others who aren't exactly willing participants in this industry, it would be punishing them for being forced into something. Worse, this is a single sample, and a single conclusion. He's not wrong that this SHOULD be addressed, but this is not how you do it. This is only going to exacerbate the problems present in this society, especially as those who might not otherwise care or would try to steer away from it, like the bird in the drama class, might feel forced to take the other side against this. Two wrongs, as they say, do not often make a right. And the ends rarely justify the means.
@@n30ng75 Einsten was nuts because physics are nuts, Deshico's nuts because his whole experiment is "Throw fire on the wood and see how it burns" because he thinks integrated society is messed up, which it kinda is, since in lore it is pretty recent, only existing for 90 years before the series
Animals coexisted in our world very differently. Lions hunt zebras, wolfs hunt rabbits and have no need for a civilised intention or personal relationship. But here it is, as this lil smartass doctor says, twisted. This series is one hell of a show i would consider watching it
I mean, yeah. Definetly watch it, read the manga too if you want more because it also has some nice parts that got cut, and Beast Complex, it's a very nice spin off series of one-shots, you'll get to see how fucked up their whole society is
A super evil, scary and brutal villain being named Melon made me laugh. To me it has the same vibes as being named something like Pineapple, or Papaya or Banana. Imagine a scene going. "Louis, watch out! He's behind you." Louis: Who?! "Banana"
The Doc has a point, society itself is very hypocritical. Yes its wrong for the drink to have chems that can trigger carnivores but this probably wouldn't happen if they never consumed meat. If you ban the drink does that mean your ok with carnivores eating herbivore meat? Its very much a paradox of ethics.
Yep, you're right, counter-point: Most carnivores need meat. Beastars society works well for the herbivores (since they are a majority), and very few carnivores who don't have predatory instincts (Pandas and dogs, mostly), all others? Fucked. You're a species that's too small like rats or too big like elephants? No place will accomodate you. Are you poisonous? Eating out is as close to illegal as it gets, also no interspecies marriage for you. Are you a carnivore and eating meat is a necessary part of your development? Get bent. Are you mixed? Fuck you. Their whole society only formed in it's modern state roughly 90 years ago, it's been little tested but it is showing it's cracks. Meat needs to be regulated, not criminalized, devourers need rehabilitation, not punishment, interspecies couples and mixed beasts need to be treated better and in general the herbivore elites need to get over their own asses and stop trying to make every carnivore as docile as the dogs

And maybe his motives are not that law abiding since the drink is addictive and spiked with a drug made of herbivore blood and bones. Like sold by street peddlers to get new young black market consumers kind of illegal.
Social stigma, probably
Boy isn't he a quirky little fella.
I was not surprised when the coffee was made of his poop because me and my family got the same poop coffee beans from my grandma in the Philippines
I…how did…
@@Ramenbrothh_Art Ohkay. Still, the quick response is appreciated, thanks. n.n
His lips make him look like he’s always smirking.
Deshico is like alternative of L from death note
Can't decide whether I like him or not, but he's pretty adorable.
I looked it up. That type of coffee he makes is actually a thing...
And as expensive as a textbook from Harvard
I can't believe Deschico is using his own escrenemt as a loophole for the no-meat eating rule.
Oh lard hes nuts
People said the same thing about Einstein.
@@julioaugusto60 that's the very foundation of what science, discovery, and progress is. Besides, we're all a little nuts in our own ways. 🙃
Beastars creator Paru Itagaki announced a new manga for January 16th called (Taika no Risei) Humans and furry living together in one world
He's such a DIVA and I'm here for it 🤣✨
Deshico es el mismísimo: Es un experimento social we
Your pfp did not go unnoticed. (Fire animation)
Deshico give me Peter Lorre vibes.
Deshico really gives me Kimblee vibes from FMA
What a little cold blooded mastermind.
Definetly watch it, read the manga too if you want more because it also has some nice parts that got cut, and Beast Complex, it's a very nice spin off series of one-shots, you'll get to see how fucked up their whole society is
Maybe it's best Melon hasn't seen you yet, Louis, that would carry a lot of risk for you.
Hopefully he doesn't also fall for Legoshi
3:06 Is that a reference to Kamen Rider Den-o??
More stage performance but it's pretty easily associated with Den-O
What a little bean!
This guy should have been the Lex Luthor of this universe.
This scene straight up didn't happen in the manga. And this scene does actually make Deshico feel like a bit of a villain. Dayum.
A super evil, scary and brutal villain being named Melon made me laugh. To me it has the same vibes as being named something like Pineapple, or Papaya or Banana. Imagine a scene going.
"Louis, watch out! He's behind you."
Louis: Who?!
"Banana"
3:06 MR. BEEEEAST
please upload the first scene of the shishigumi freaking out from him

Why is he doing Jojo poses?
what a strange, zesty little guy
there’s a lot of zesty guys in beastars. look at melon.
CAT SO CUTE WHAHHAAAAAATTTTTT
EDIT: CAT SO CUUUUUUTEEEEE HE SNAPPED HIS LIL SUSPENDERS
Wish he did expose Louis. To take him down
Deshico is the only 1 I know who can reverse the effect of KINES.
Woof, kinda afraid for him that he will get trapped man
Gotta say, they used Deshico wayyy better in the Anime than they did in the manga. He was super pointless there.
Beastars creator Paru Itagaki announced a new manga for January 16th called (Taika no Risei) Humans and furry living together in one world

Hold on!!
is that the voice of Meruem?!?!?
Why I sees him, I feel familiar with some Char in Resident Evil, yeah that dammn Wesker :V
Calling him x boss was extra king energy
... Do eggs have a similar effect to meat?
They are protein rich food. so kind off. But they are not meat.
@DokuroHeartvore I know, but would it have a similar reaction? What part of the meat exactly, triggers it
@firepuppies4086 I believe it has something to do with certain enzymes and protein structures found in muscle tissues.
@@DokuroHeartvorejust saying, if I ate eggs all my life, and tasted steak for the first time, guess which one I'll crave more.
@@firepuppies4086you figure that out, you may have a shot at becoming a chef! 😂
Good question, though. I too, would love to know the science behind it. There's got to be a reason. Like taking pharmaceuticals, but you can't combine with certain others for a period of time, and such. There's definitely a reason. A cause, and effect.
Why is Deshico so eccentric?
I was really worried watching this scene that Deshico would sicc security on Louis.
Or worse.
Melon.
I think I watched the last episode of the series and was really disappointed on the ending. Hopefully, they’re not gonna leave it there.

May you what
I know it's something completely fine but it GENUINELY caught me off guard and I don't even know the word he's saying, or recognize it from the audio at least
Isnt he that Civet from when...
Pretty sure the correct pronunciation is "Deshko".
So he say about melon which was born from Leopard, then he maybe Omnivore!
