Haven just went to my first event yesterday, you're not wrong on pacing. It's fun as hell doing it in the right car or even at all at a cheap cost but it is slow paced all around. Still love doing it, especially in my Elantra N.
Yeah it’s ran by boomers they 100% won’t let it happen can’t even do anything fun at these events. They make you work to it’s not like a normal event. When your not driving you have to be on track working as a judge and help move cones back. You can’t even leave your area till the group is finished driving and your groups up

Autocross at our house consisted of me dressed in mom's long black flowing gown, pump high heels and big floppy hat. As sure there was makeup but I only had to "Cross" the yard to escape to someplace, anyplace... It was the gopher holes that got me. Ever try to go cross country thru a minefield of gophers holes in pump heels at 7 years old with a team on your tail ? I had my own autocross and it was my gocart with two Mac 90's and I could push it to over 100 MPH. When mom and dad found out reports from the neighbors, I was maybe 13 and had no fear. We ran a slot car track called The Car Barn
It's alot of a joke but has some truth to it too. It actually happened (and to many small boys outnumbered by bigger sisters but I've embellished it some as second Place Class Clown
Unless you like working for free and paying for they day enjoy lol. when your groups not up they make you be a judge and pick up cones when your not driving. No standing around or pit time at all.
After all the cars we’ve seen Orion go through I still can’t wrap my head around how he landed on dailying this POS RAV4. N yeah, I get it, it’s dirt cheap to run. I had 2 of these in 2 door version.
Used to have a shitbox honda that was actually pretty clean, clean and honda 2 things that usually don't mix but mine was actually a nice car. Tastefully done not ruined like most, shit chopped up and modded just for the sake of being not stock. Plan was to auto cross it and daily it, then a cop hit me head on, bought a truck with the insurance money. Some day I want to autocross a shitbox just to do what I was not able to do, get some fun out of a 2000$ pile of shit
Loring is really fun big track they set up same with Brunswick and yes they will let you drive the rav. They will never do drifting unfortunately bunch of older folk involved but it’s not bad I’ve gone a couple times but my cars are all to big for there set ups
