- Last week we got significant news in two key issue areas that might shape how voters are thinking this fall: the economy and abortion legality. First, on Wednesday, the latest consumer price index data showed inflation cooling more than expected. Then, on Thursday, the Supreme Court ruled unanimously to uphold access to the abortion medication mifepristone by mail.
In this installment of the 538 Politics podcast, Galen speaks with Senior Researcher Mary Radcliffe and Senior Elections Analyst Nathaniel Rakich about how voters are are thinking about the issues of the economy and abortion access in 2024 and how that will, in turn, affect their votes.

No video, no vibes
_I'll_ bring the vibes.
And *I'm* _angry._
bring the video back!!! jeeez why mess with a good thing
please include the video
Vibes?!!! People are going to vote on vibes? People can't afford to buy food and local businesses are going under at a rate faster than the great depression.
Ughh, I don't want to watch the podcasts if theres nothing to watch. Where is the video-cam of you guys sitting there talking and whatnot?
Why does this podcast keep flip flopping with video
Yes,women who can't handle responsibility should be using vibes.
The Vibes Election can also be called the "Nothing Matters" Election because the vibes are economically illiterate.
Bring the video backkkk
BRING BACK THE VIDEO, PLEASE!
Your videos are always informative and well-researched.
Why no video?
MAGA24
Back to low quality again. Feels like a zoom call
330 million American citizens are proud to know that after 8 years we only have two of the best choices the polls say that they are the most favorable so exciting which one has 60% of all the love of the American citizens help me I don't want to be a mushroom I want to be a sunflower
🌻 Florida's Mockingbird🌻
It is no longer necessary to have a primary to choose a candidate to represent your party🌻 Florida's Mockingbird🌻
I can't remember the guest's name who is on capital hill and she comes on frequently, but I thought it was her voice in the preview and... it wasn't! the dangers of no video!!
It was always vibes
"I like Ike, you like Ike. Everybody likes Ike (for President)"
Who let their kids report the news?
Stop trying to be 'cool' by using slang from 12 yr olds.
Lol keep falling for the 2 party illusion people! Who ya want? Jack Johnson or John Jackson?
Most inflation we experienced post covid WOULD HAVE HAPPENED under either President. Voters are absolutely trash at using what *might have happened* to compare against what did happen; instead they make the HUGE MISTAKE of comparing Biden's economy to the pre Covid economy.
He's done nothing about it though
At this point, him 'doing nothing' is a selling point.
Why does the common section care so much about a video? You go to a podcast to listen to it, not to watch it.
Because we want to see Nathaniel Rakich’s sexy smile
Because of Galen's perfect skin
Because we're on UA-cam. If we just wanted audio we'd get it elsewhere.
Nathaniel, Galen, Elliott, Geoffrey, Kaleigh, all lovely to see their faces, but I do already know what they look like. This guest (Mary?), I have no idea what she looks like, and I would prefer to know!!
BOOOOOOOOOO
^excellent and insightful commentary. This accurately describes my opinion with EVERYTHING we will experience in the Post-Halloween hangover of 2024.
If my life ends before November, I'd thank whatever Deity still grants me certain unalienable rights to 'the pursuit of happiness,' because NOTHING ABOUT THESE CANDIDATES SPARKS JOY OR HOPE FOR THE FUTURE.
This is a four-year-plan of a "play-for-time."
I hate it and I hate the electorate and I hate the superdelegates and I hate both wings of the monoparty and I hate the lobbyists and I hate our illusion of democracy under the Boomers and I hate the frontrunners and I'm mad as hell and I'm not even gonna *do* anything about it other than write in RFK as a literal _joke_ because I never go with a winner.
I will never forgive the shady-ass sh*t that went down in the 2016 election. The grassroots will of the people was thwarted and subverted by the Neoliberal Coalition on Super Tuesday and Sanders and all his men got screwed. Thanks Clinton. You led us here; never trusting you again.
It's all Joever, bros.
There's nothing Left-of-center.
I yield.
Disaffected.
Game over.
Goodbye.
This is the most brain dead podcast I’ve ever heard
