Alyssa blamed Indiana fans, but what about fans on other teams saying all nasty things about Clark? Real fans just want to watch the game. Trolls just want be nonsense. This happens all sports worldwide not just WNBA. The difference in soccer in Europe they usually ban those racist trolls from attending matches for life.

Unfortunately, there is an element of her “fans” that are really using this young lady to push their culture war nonsense.
These are people who most likely never watched the W before Caitlin came around. Now they are using her as some sort of symbol to beat up on the women of color and the non straight players.

@@danny197519751you do know there are WNBA players like Breanna Stewart who have accomplished more than any other women’s BB player in the league. 4x national champion, 4x final 4 MVP, multiple Wooden awards, multiple Olympic gold medals, multiple WNBA titles, and was also rookie of the year her first year in the league. But you probably have no idea as she doesn’t fit your target demographic.
Breanna also has multiple endorsement deals. I doubt she is jealous of CC. Don’t get me wrong I think CC will go on to become one of the best to ever play the game but you guys really overstate her accomplishments compared to many other players. She had a great season and did great things but she has a long way to go to be as accomplished as Stewart (or Sue Bird for that matter).

@@D4L_457It’s far simpler than you’re trying to make it out to be. Clark is a better player than Reese, on a better team, with a better structure, and has a far more dynamic game. Reese has constantly attached her name to Clark in hopes of piggybacking off her success and placate sympathy. The numbers show that hasn’t vaulted her to a status equal to Caitlin, which is something foolish people can’t rationalize or accept.

That was clearly pre-meditated… she knew that was going to get her national attention and she got seriously paid for it. It was all part of a well thought out, well executed marketing plan. I work with a couple of guys like this. They are right wing anti-gay and almost just openly racist. They latched onto CC as soon as she was popular in college and have just started to watch the W now that Caitlin is playing. They use her to trash the other players all the time. They also have extreme hatred of any black athletes (such as Lebron) who dare to speak their mind. I hear this nonsense in the regular.
Sadly, if you know you have a segment of your fans that are being hated on (and I have seen some horrible comments on X), then you really need to take a stand and state that they do not represent you.
I think Caitlin is great and will be a great W player for a long time. She cannot allow these people to abuse her fellow players.
You do know is there are plenty of other straight / white players in the W like Kelsey Plum, Sabrina Ionescu, and Cameron Brink. They don’t have fans like Clark does that hate on the rest of the league. Why? I’m guessing because they didn’t come from a university in a bloody red state

So Sue Bird, Candice Parker, Breanna Stewart, Kelsey Plum, Aja Wilson, are not “class acts” in your mind? This league has always had great players and role models. You just want a particular demographic to root for and to use that demographic to punch down on all the other women in the league.
I am not a fan of Angel Reese either. She is annoying but she is not representative of the entire league. Been a fan for 25 years not just when someone who looks like me is one of the best players.

Weatherspoon got herself fired for a few reasons but manly cause of the way she handled Reese. What coach lets a player miss so many forced shots and not stop it or bench a player. Those double doubles don’t mean anything if you don’t make them count. They were BARE MINIMUM double doubles. What does it matter if you’re getting 19 boards if you’re only cashing in on one or two of them? With all those boards and her size she should’ve been getting triple doubles. 125 missed shots from within five feet in a single season, second only to Natalie Williams in 2003 that had 129. Most missed second and third attempts in a single season and you don’t sit that player? All those missed attempts could’ve change their entire season if they were fed out to an actual points scorer or at least someone open that could’ve made a play. On top of that you have to wonder what’s going on behind closed doors when three Sky players have publicly asked to be traded. Marina Mabrey, Kahleah Copper and Dana Evans have all asked to be traded. And let’s really be honest, even if that wrist injury is real, which I don’t think it is, Reese quit on the Sky. When she saw they were out of the playoffs she quit on the Sky like she quit on Maryland to go to LSU. She’s a selfish player and person. Cause do you really think she would’ve sat out if they were in show? A broken leg wouldn’t have kept her off of that court! Weatherspoon bought into all the Reese hype and it cost her dearly in the end.

You people get triggered whenever CC gets hurt in a game and always think it’s intentional. Do you watch other WNBA games and see the injuries that occur on the regular? This isn’t some conspiracy.
Also, you do realize the league has been around for almost 30 years. Is it welcome that CC has brought new viewers to the game? Of course. But it has come at the cost of RW pseudo fans using Caitlin for their culture war nonsense.

Conneticut Sun and "beautiful playoffs" should not be in the same sentence. Perhaps they should use their platform against their cheating on the court, and the outrageously biased cheating by the refs ie.: intentional eyegouging of the Fever lead player 90 seconds into the game : no foul called, laughing about it with a teammate who knew about it even though she didnt see it; but, the whole world did including the WNBA commission. The dangerous fouls, cheap shots and closelines that werent called even as fouls with the ref standing 1/2 meter away.. Maybe they should use their platform for fairness, being proper role models, and apologizing for their actions. Why arent they forfeiting the last game, instead of playing the victim. Shame on you for giving an once of credence to the bullshit that Thomas, Carrington, and the WNBA are spewing. The Fever appreciate their fans and each other . Appreciation is what heroes are made of.

Unfortunately, there is an element of her “fans” that are really using this young lady to push their culture war nonsense.
These are people who most likely never watched the W before Caitlin came around. Now they are using her as some sort of symbol to beat up on the women of color and the non straight players.
Also, there are many other white straight (and black straight) players in the league. Kelsey Plumb, Skyler Diggins, Sabrina Ionescu, etc. There is no hate on these players. The CC fans are the problem, they are using any perceived slight or “bad call” as a reason to attack the other players.

Listen to what Erica Wheeler and Kelsey Mitchell said in response to Alyssa Thomas comments that she's facing racism on social media. Basically Erica and Kelsey said that's social media. Erica said she doesn't really care what some fan says. Adult professional women hve to prioritize social media as an unmoderated toxic zone and not a moderated forum to discuss sports. And hate goes many ways. White people are attacked to so Caitlin is attacked. It's just Caitlin keeps social media away as does most of her team unlike the others who bring it into what impacts them as players on an WNBA professional team.

Fan behavior is a REACTION to what intelligent people see and know is a non-basketball play, especially away from the ball. That’s the thing none of these people understand. Caitlin is being used by people to fight their culture war.
I have watched this league for 25 years. There are players today that have accomplished so much but have received no mainstream attention. Brianna Stewart is my favorite player. She won four national championships in college. She has multiple Olympic gold medals, multiple WNBA titles, was also rookie of the year her first year in the league. Just go to her bio to see the rest. She is also white, but not straight so where is the love for Breanna who is in my opinion the greatest college player of all time and a top 5 player in the W? She doesn’t have the following because she is not straight.
Caitlin Clark has the potential to be one of the greatest players in the W. She has done a lot to increase the viewership and popularity of the women’s game.
What is happening is there are many people who are using her as a weapon against the people they don’t like. Black women, gay women etc. While Caitlin has brought many new / genuine fans she also (not her fault), has brought people to the league who are using her in their culture war nonsense. These are the trolls that Clark was referring to.
I have two super MAGA, racist guys that work with me at my firm. Before CC they had nothing to do with the W. Now I have to hear about all the abuse Clark takes and all kinds of vile comments about the other players. These guys also attacked Brittany Griner over her arrest in Russia. I know for a fact if Brittany were white and straight they would have been all in on getting her back home.
On another note these people sit and just wait for something to happen to CC during a game and then go unhinged racist on the player that fouls CC. Somehow they overlook all the fouls and physicality that happen to other players. The W is a physical game as is the NBA. People get fouled, they get poked in the eye. But these people make it all personal and turn CC into a victim for their own biased / racist worldview.

60 Minutes: the W and Caitlin Clark, a real terrible interview it was. Clark did not talk about herself much nor about the WNBA. I think she was the 3rd segment of 60 Minutes as it aired Sunday Sept. 29th 7:30pm - 9pm EST. It was just after 8pm. It sucked. Not worth watching.
It glorified the women who made the WNBA bad.
CC did not shine and avoided or pretended to ignore all the negativity, horrible incidents, comments that the WNBA Commissioner, Coaches, and other players gave to her this season.
If CC stays in the WNBA for 2025, then she has no dignity or pride and any BS is on her.
Collier gave a better interview. The Fan crave. oooh! daddy tore up the yard so CC can have greater range to shoot the ball.
The WNBA treated CC like &%@*(@# and she still wants to play or defend such a rotten league.
Anyways, Fever Playoff Game 2 is the last WNBA game I'll ever watch.
Clark must move on from the WNBA, otherwise it is the end of her career. After all, NIKE doing all they can to dump CC.

There are reason why people are celebrated in sports or as a human being, it's because they are doing the right thing. If it can't be change or being stubborn that nothing is wrong with the league, these will continue.

Just Wow with the nonsense DEI slur.
While I am not a fan of Reese her defensive stats are incredible for a rookie and her offense is decent. When looking at a basketball players value we look at both defense and offense for MVP.
While CC is an offensive machine her defensive skills are rather lackluster. And while she improved as the season went on she was a turn over machine. CC set the record for turnovers in a season, conversely she also set the record for assist in a season which is fantastic.
There is no need to trash another player on their skills unless you show the numbers.
Reese before her injury averaged 13.1 rebounds per game, and 13.6 points per game. Caitlin averaged 5.7 rebounds and 19.2 points per game. Reese’s position is more defensive in nature. The single vote was because she is one of the best players in the league. Again I’m not a fan but also not a hater
