I’ve been watching legend forever but the guy never ceases to impress. There’s no way in hell I could pull that kind of battle off… and I play legendary on very difficult battle difficulty and would just probably take a loss on the chin and recover. Well done sir
There's something wrong with the speed in this game. It's like rubber banding in a racing game, you can never outrun stuff even though your speed says it's higher. It's like they speed up for a charge when they're following you but the charge just never ends until they inevitably catch you, it's stupid.
I know the feeling. I think it might have something to do with two things, max speed and tiredness. Even though you can keep increasing a units speed, im pretty sure it has a max speed, limited by its max animation speed. Also, when a unit gets tires, the speed debuff it gets isnt reflected on the unit card, so that also might play a role. Elevation may also sometimes play a role! That being said, i also do feel that the units sometimes feel waaaay too rubberbandy for my taste, it just feels inconsistent sometimes.
That's quite literally exactly what's happening, the AI issues a charge order constantly, every tick, so they can chase you forever unless you're significantly faster.
I don't even understand why the charge needs to go faster than the regular movement in the first place. It doesn't add anything to the gameplay and it just makes it less consistent and less predictable.
I personally love and cavalry and can do some really good work against larger armies if i take my time and pick them apart a unit at a time, but I do play on the smallest unit size so that makes them a lot less unwieldy. great video!
Hmm isnt he australian? Fathers day over there is not today. Apparently its fathers day in the usa today, but where I live it was 11 days ago and it seems to be different from country to country.
You don’t need “the best units I could recruit”, spearmen, spearmen and even more archers is mostly it in early game. Good thing legend was here to help.
This was a very hard campaign when I tried it. Constantly running from one end of my territory to another as everyone around declared war over and over again: peace out for ten turns so I could go elsewhere, then back again when the ten turns runs out. Was constantly having to rescue my Dwarf allies, who were useless. Strangest thing was my wars against Greasus, Festus and Skaven meant that I allied with Ghorst early on and he sill absolutely loved me 150 turns in when I finally became a juggernaught and was rolling over Cathay, through the Empire and down the Southlands.
I feel like this battle pretty well demonstrates why I don't have much faith in chariot units, especially the HElves. Like, they just feel like they don't do much damage even when you charge them into fodder, and they can't run away properly half the time to get to their next charge either.

The charging speed bonus that seems to only really work for the ai is such a fun thing to deal with, you're 20 speed faster? They will still catch you easily, the enemy is 5 speed faster than you? They outrun you easily
Hit “R” twice to manually activate a charge. It’s used to change whether the unit walks or runs. But when used just outside of melee range, quickly telling them to walk and than run again will initiate the charging animation manually. It’s what the AI does perfectly, on every unit, every time.
Doing that at all times while trying to micro more than one unit is impossibly impractical, but it's a machine with no limits so we are just stuck with it's cheating
@@Nightmare_52 yes but with all the things we’ve seen legend and ourselves do to the AI, it almost feels fair. And now that you know it you can at least insure your lord catches theirs or that cav unit before it hits your back line.

what is this army lol. Where are the spearmen? a double line of spearmen and archers would wreck this edit: also, the "speed" thing is actually part of the new AI cheats. CA has effectively removed the stat buffs and added cheats to the AI's command structure. This is nothing new, but CA have kinda "uncapped" the AI's command limit, so now they can just perma spam attacks all game (and that's what they do when they're not charging). This effectively allows them to drag a single unit across your entire army, and outrun units faster than them (since they're always charging). I've raised this issue to CA multiple times and their literal response is "This is how our AI interacts with the game". SO working as intended essentially
CA should really fix unit spacing and Mass for many units. Because *every* cavalry unit (alongside monster groups) get stuck and basically a good portion die off due to it, its especially evident with Chariot units here. ((or units like Dragons, too. they really should be able to easily disengage by just simply lifting off on the spot. Its absolutely, ridiculous that Dwarf Warriors can stop (and hold) a dragon from taking off and are able to rout one)).
Those Green Tide Waves from the NW are a problem. .setting up for a look towards pigbarter barley having two armies early and no chance for a dragon this is difficult so i see their problem. Search Papa of total wars first 10 turns guide to Imrik may help chariots micro fun.
I have a question. I see this basically in all the LegendofTotalWar videos... but when changing the direction of where units should go to, I hear a lot of clicking combined with 'spinning the cursor'. Why is this? I can understand the clicking multiple times (I do this often, too, because units don't always listen immediately, especially if models are touching enemy models), but why spinning the mouse cursor? Is there some secret reason for that?
You're essentially forcing your own units to wiggle between enemy units rather than to try to move in a straight line, which is often blocked. It's a way of getting units out of danger more quickly/completely.
@@benjaminsorensen9334 Thanks. He seems to also do that with units not in direct combat (or a bit further away from opponent units either way) as well...?
