You can actually access the older version of MS Paint by using JS Paint (which is old MS Paint in your web browser, it has all the same functions including saving the images) OR by using a virtual machine, which emulates older versions of Windows!
I must say I enjoy using Photoshop (not elements but the main program) along with Procreate for drawing. Depends on whether I wanna sit at my desk or not!
This video was really satisfying to watch and it's interesting to see how the processes change slightly depending on which program is being used. I can definitely see how much more comfortable your workflow is in Procreate!
man I remember firealpaca was my first 'real' drawing program and I was using a little windows surface go and a broken-nibbed stylus. The stylus being ducked up actually made me almost give up art 💀 But I saved up for an ipad pro and now we're so back 💪
Anyways, I love your art so much! It's so cute and if younger me found you I absolutely woulda loved your channel 💙💙

i got blasted directly into the past when i saw the fire alpaca logo! i think that was the first drawing program i ever used and I also remember using the animation tools/features (altho i cant say with confidence that i was using them properly lmao). It was my gateway into digital art so i think it'll always hold a place in my heart! its cool to see that it still holds up pretty well after all this time
Im so happy to finally have someone not shit on Procreate LOL. I recently got Clip studio paint but still prefer using Procreate as that is what I’m used to! Besides the layer limit there’s no problems in my opinion!✨🙌🏻
When you showed your art program evolution and your tablet I got nostalgia, because I had a similar evolution in which programs I used - started in MS Paint on Windows XP, transferred over to Photoshop Elements and switched to Paint Tool SAI. My first tablet was a 20€ tablet from Aldi without any pen pressure before I got a Wacom Bamboo in 2012 (which lasted for 12 years)
Currently I use both SAI and Procreate with a new tablet. Its so cool to see people with a similar evolution in their digital art!

Also, SAI has a version 2 now! It offers more features, textures, brushes and stuff like automatic blurring, a text tool and better options. The dev also announced a warp tool for better transformation. You actually get the second version for free if you have your serial number from the first version c:
7:20 Woah!! That’s my OC!! I didn’t expect the attack to be in a video, so this is a pleasant surprise. She and the other OCs look adorable btw ^^ And in regards to some programs I use, Ibis Paint and Krita are my go to.
Im about half way through and I love this video so much!! Its so fun to go through and look at how we used to make things >-< i used mspaint all the time as a kid to make really bad MLP recolors lol.. Also i love your art!!! Its so cute ❤❤

SAI is actually still rly great cuz you get the SAI 2.0 version for free when you purchase the programn, and 2.0 version has some cool improvements such as gausian blur and text tool
It was so fun to see you revisit your old art programs. I remember playing with ms paint but I really didn’t get into digital art until I got procreate. Recently I’ve been using Ohuhu markers a lot. It’s been fun doing traditional again.

I started on my ipad with my finger over a decade ago and I still do that, I'm too used to it that I can't use my apple pencil ;o;
I used a really simple program called brushes, until procreate became a thing ^^

That’s so funny, I had a copy of Paint Tool SAI that was a gift from a friend too! (tysm hika 💖) I did One Piece Photoshop CS5 and After Effects though lol
CSP is definitely my preferred drawing program (it was the first one I ever used back when it was still called Manga Studio), but because there’s no one-time purchase option for the mobile app I end up using Procreate as my daily driver, which was definitely ten dollars well spent. Iirc CSP’s current pricing plan is that new buyers can get the next big upgrade for free but otherwise you have to pay for subsequent updates or join their subscription model. It’d be one thing if these updates had more substance to them (and there was the Simple Mode they released for the mobile version that makes the interface a lot more touch friendly and less like a replication of the desktop version, which I know a lot of people appreciate) but these new updates definitely feel like quantity over quality so for now I haven’t upgraded to the 2.0 version
Also this is kind of unrelated, but when I first got my iPad four years ago, my first program was Ibis Paint, which is free to download and kind of feels like a combination between FireAlpaca and CSP (you can export your artwork directly into your CSP cloud using the same file extension native to CSP, and there’s even some screentoning features comparable with CSP’s offerings) It definitely served its purpose for the time, but after about two years I ended up getting Procreate after being on the fence about it for a really long time and it totally spoiled me rotten, now I almost never go on Ibis Paint anymore expect to finish some art I started in Procreate but ended up hitting my layer limit 😂

yeah csp is a solid program!! i agree tho if they had a "simple" interface for mobile (and made it single payment like procreate) i think i'd be way more willing to give the ipad app a chance. the program in general definitely has its aspects about it that i love, but i think i just "clicked" with procreate a lot more, and i'm happy to hear it sounds like you ended up liking it too!✨
and that's interesting that ibis can coincide with csp in that way!
@latteswiirl My dream is that the CSP mobile app will allow you the option to make a one-time purchase so that both the subscription model and single payment model camps can be happy, or if they can allow you to use your license that comes with the desktop version to add the mobile version as your second device. As it is now the only way you can use CSP for free is Doodle Mode (not to be confused with Simple Mode) but you can't save anything you make on there so it just feels more like a demo, which is cruel 😭

I was honestly only a traditional artist when I was way younger. (And it took about 5 years to finally draw digitally) But the first time I remember drawing digitally, was like a short gacha edit on ibis paint X! (Specifically X cause i think ibis paint is the old version of it). although i never rlly knew the tools for a long time, until i just sat down and binged though yt tutorials :>. But i have like tested/tried a couple different drawing apps in the past years, but i mainly use ibis paint X and Roblox free draw :]
I've personally been using Clip studio paint for... 4-5 years. I LOVE it so much, especially the vector eraser. Saves so much time. Plus the 3d stuff and assets are so good. Great vid!
hurraay for us Ms.Painters >XD was also a ms.paint + mouse beginer c': I stayed with Ms.paint for So long though; I later change to COLORS (3ds version) then Medibang and on phone got ibis paint, those two programs are my mains now, I like it simple
NO WAY i loved colors 3d but wasn't sure if i should include it bc i didn't use it that much xD i looked at my old drawings there tho and i might share a couple in a community post or somethn lol
and ms paint + mouse is such a formative experience, we are so strong 🥲✨
you should make a video testing free drawing apps! if you havent already, and a free drawing program i use is krita it is easy to use for me and simple, its perfect for a person looking for a free drawing website!
This is amazing 😮 I also mostly use Procreate but I do use Hipaint and Ibispaint occasionally. And infinite painter always crashes so I gave up on it 😂

OMG AWESOME VIDEO!! I also used to use a wacom bamboo and used photoshop elements 7. Right now I actually use Photoshop 7.0 which is much better than elements. :D

I think for me my drawing apps I've used would range from: Roblox Free Draw, Medibang Paint, Ibis Paint, Procreate, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator (not really a drawing app but I had a lesson on there where I could draw on it) Procreate Dreams, and now Clip Studio (which I'm actually using rn lmao)
I did also start drawing on my phone and laptop back when I was younger but now it's wacom and ipad 💀
I also love your art style! I love using textured brushes as well but sometimes I do like some smooth drawings since when used right it's *chefs kiss*
Edit: forgot about paint tool sai lmao- i dont use it alot due to the subscription as im broke but i did like using it in the free trial i had
Krita is another good one i used from time to time as well
I also used MS Paint just to see what it's like drawing on there and how that one person was able to create a realistic Santa on there (if yk yk)

12:12 i actually prefer making comics in procreate over clip studio, i understand that clip has more fancy tools for comic making, but i prefer being able to physically make my own page layout with the pen over the automated tools in clip that also have a ton of overly complicated layer information in them, in procreate i can create a comic very similarly to the way i would make one traditionally and that organic process is why i personally think it beats clip studio despite having less features

It’s interesting because I used Procreate for a long time but ended up liking Clip Studio way better! It may be because I enjoy a challenge and so when confronted with a confusing interface my goal is to understand everything and know how to use it! I also like the way it doesn’t really limit layers… I’m making a Vtuber model currently and Procreate has prevented me from letting make more than I need. It just really comes down to preference!

Another banger latte post! ☕️some of these are quite nostalgic for me too. Like old Ms paint from the 2000s is an artist staple in my childhood 😊 I also used paint tool sai at one point from 2013-2016 until I got my iPad Pro at the end of 8th grade. Then medibang paint was my main program from early high school in 2016 up to 2021. And then I started officially using procreate as my main go to in early 2022 when I was 20. 😀

I think all these programs look nice. I can't afford procreate, so I only use this knock off photoshop program I have on my computer (I draw by hand on paper and color digitally). Also, paint tool sai is a good program even for today, it's just not as high tech as procreate
