Dude tried to tell them fruits and cheese don’t belong together but it backfired hard.
Like has he never eaten a cheese board? Figs, grapes, apple, currants, everything goes well with cheese. Just thinking how wonderful young cheese and mango would be.

@@zydn um. Read my comment again. I clearly state I like Hawaiian pizza. I was just saying this particular one didn’t look like the best example because it might have too much cheese on it. Which in my experience can be an issue with some Hawaiian pizzas. Over powering every other flavor.

Right. Cheese and fruit work really well together much of the time. It’s not always the same cheeses. But say crackers, cheddar, and apple is really good. Pineapple burgers are absolutely delicious. Especially on a pretzel bun with a good melty cheese. Pears are a good substitute for apples in plenty of dishes.

@@Sarah-cg3ybgood cheese boards need sweet items to balance out some of the funk. Figs are a regular addition, and are goddamn delicious. I thought I didn't like funky cheeses like bleu and gorgonzola, etc, until I tried them with some kind of fruit compote, and then they blew my mind.

Literally wanted to comment that, arugula, watermelon and feta cheese is awesome!! Tried it first a few months ago after I saw a video by Kenji Lopez Alt preparing this dish. It's really, really good.

It’s the salty ham and the sweet pineapple that is just a heavenly combination.
Even better than classic Hawaiian is bacon and pineapple. It’s the #1 best pizza combo. Ham is a little too plain which makes the pizza too sweet, but bacon is so salty it adds a nice contrast.

Where I live in Australia, we slice apples and take supermarket cheese squares and put them on as if it was a cracker. They are hella tasty.

Pineapple on pizza is only good if the sauce isn't too sweet. Its an amazing combo tho, because it's sweeter and more acidic than tomato, and the flavors compliment each other. It's like adding a bit of lime to chili; it elevates everything to a new level.

Unpopular opinion, I’m sooo over people from different ethnicities gate keeping their food. Yes, there’s traditional pizza…. So eat that if you want. But this is literally called HAWAIIAN pizza. I don’t even like it but I’ll defend its existence. It’s 2023, the world is becoming a melting pot, and newsflash Italians don’t have a monopoly on pizza! And a LOT of these twists are probably from other immigrants, Italian and otherwise!!! Just like how our parents might not make every single recipe the exact traditional way! It’s fine!!
In the 70s Americans would dress a Thanksgiving & Christmas ham with pineapple rings with a maraschino cherry in the centre.
But now huney, or brown sugar glazed ham has replaced the pineapple ham. But, I feel the pineapple ham of the 70s may have influenced the Hawaiian pizza (Canadian in origin 🇨🇦).😂

Hawaiian Pizza is actually Canadian. Also it needs to a balanced affair. The Sauce in particular needs to be less "sweet" or more zesty/spicy/savory. Failing that use spicy pepperoni instead of or along with the Ham.

the italians complain about pinapple on pizza but they are happy to put figs on pizzas (pizza e fichi). This aversion towards pinapple is only because pinapples are not native to italy or europe, but it makes absolutely no sense to discard it as a valid ingredient for pizzas just because is sweet and a fruit when the base of most pizzas, tomatoes, are a sweet fruit too! (which btw, is not from Italy but from Mexico!)
Gatekeeper chefs are just mad that it sounds American, because they love saying that we don't have anything original.

There's actually a few reasons people dont like pineapple on pizza. Pineapple has a unique enzyme the breaks down meat. That and the combo of salty, savory, meaty and sweet is the reason some people dont like it. It's like science
If you don't like something that's fine, nobody is going to force you to eat it, but you don't get to ban it for everyone else.

Watermelon 🍉 and feta cheese is actually very tasty together with ricket as a salad base and some parma ham or olive's as toppings. Very popular in middke eastern countries because ofvthe heat the melon provides water and sugars and the olives and cheese have salt, helping you to stay hydrated in the heat

I just can't deal with hot pineapple 😭 on hot cheese and hot tomato sauce. Plus the sweetness is jarring to me. But aye if you like it, then you like it. Just not for me.
