This review weighed the scale towards the scala and I bought it - it is amazing, thank you. I have to disagree with you about the size though... The scala is significantly bigger than the VW Golf :)
Keith Isaacs thank you for your comment. The Skodas compared to their rivals always come out on top when it comes to value. Plus dependability is a huge plus. All cars are getting more expensive as new models emerge. Something we can’t help with.
Good review and a lot to like. I have the Fabia estate which is cheaper, although the Scala is a more up market and modern car so many may be happy to pay more for it. The Fabia estate is however 10cm shorter which is better for city driving/parking but has a bigger boot (with seats up) and looks to have better rear visibility. The Scala appears to have a narrow looking rear window in your review (at 17.15).
Already bought one, so (nearly) totally agree, just looking for other opinions. I've want for the SEL & where you get slightly more kit you also seem to drop a few things your one had, but that aside I wasn't looking for a GTi or a Ford St, I was looking for a good family car with plenty of room...& I've found one. Loved your review btw.
Thank you Jim for the comment. At the time only the SE was available and they all were “well specked”. I am really happy to hear you’re enjoying yours. Thank you.
Acctualy this a great Review . Much better than the professional others 👍🏻 You could be much more successful as a reviewer if you have a Team ✌🏻 good job
I am looking for a replacement for my 2010 Astra. The Scala caught my eye. The only thing that puts me off compared to buying another Astra, which would be my first choice, would be the cost of parts and servicing. I know Astras have cheaper parts. Although the Scala is excellent value. I am interested in your advise, thanks
Quite enjoyed your presentation albeit with a few mistakes put right with messages on screen. The scala looks decent for the money but I don’t share your over the top enthusiasm. You could say it’s further up the ladder than the rapid !
Thank you for your comment. Yes I got the Scala just as it was released so details were being changed at the time of recording. It’s ok if you don’t share my enthusiasm. That’s me being a car nut!
Hi there. Thank you for comment. There is usually a little button you need to hold down whilst removing the headrests. You should find this on the front and rear headrests.
Does anyone know the difference that the 17" or 18" wheels provide in regards to comfort and road noise around town and on motorways? I really like the look of the 18" but I'm unsure how much they may impact comfort and noise
(I know this is a year old) The smaller the wheel, the less you feel the bumps and the less you hear road noises. The bigger the wheel, the slightly more fuel efficient, better looking, but less comfortable and more noise. I'd stick with 16 or 17" if you can, this car is all about comfort after all.
@@AutoBears Thanks for the reply. Can't help but think they've missed a big trick there in a "family" car. The roof racks one can attach separately are very ugly and, not in a good way, very 70's too.
I had this car for a test run and have gotten "Put your hands on the steering wheel" message and sound alert while I had my heands on it. I have spotted some users mention this as a very annoying problem, also on the kamiq. Did you get any such warning and do you think this will be eventually fixed by Škoda? Very nice review, like your style.
If there is zero movement the car thinks your hands are not on the steering wheel. You have to wiggle around a bit (now you have a excuse for driving side to side when you are drunk).
@@Max_Mustermann_ , the car reported this when I was driving it in a curve on a highway, the senzor was overtly sensibke to the point of bugged. Found one guy here who is able to make the senzor less senzible though.
@@AutoBears well, any of those could suit the scala. It is a step up, it is Skoda elevating it's game. How did you find the car in long speedway journeys? Does it hold up well?
Sorry I was excited with the boot then in the cabin, that big slab of grey plastic on the dashboard & Ugh... my dog would scratch that to bits. The glove box seems cheap when you shut it.
This is very much a marmite car. It's not bad for the money. It's well kitted and the interior on the model you have is nice shame the lower spec models are a little more drab. I'm not sure it's for me and clearly aimed at a certain market
I think they look like little wings on the car. But there’s nothing wrong with either. I wasn’t even born in 1961. I’m so sorry to have offended you Dan. Have a free virtual hug!
Mr11ESSE111 thank you for your comment. The question you must ask is if you are after a family hatchback, why would you consider a large family saloon? Plus running costs will be much more expensive as well for a larger car.
@@AutoBears no it wont be much more expensive!1 infact it will be cheaper if we count reliability of japanese car vs škoda ones !! mechanic parts and repairs just like services are more expensive and more often for Škoda then for japanese cars or in this case Mazda
A great review this. As a teacher of English, I wish more people spoke the language as clearly as you do. I heard and understood every single word.
Strongly agree
What an excellent review. One of the very best as regards presentation and detailed analysis.
Thank you Mr Englishman. I’m happy to hear you enjoyed the view.

Watching so many reviews on this I see a common thread of the lower spec is soo capable which is so refreshing.
Doing a test drive on Sat can’t wait 🎉
Another excellent review. Leagues ahead of the ridiculous CarWow ones!
Funny how skoda reviews are always good not cheap anymore but still good value for money.

@@AutoBears yes I've got the karoq 1.5tsi amazing car quiet comfortable and quality every one who travels in it says how impressed they are.
Great video. I’m looking at either a Scala or a Leon. Your videos are well made and very informative. Thank you!
Like the included spare wheel and manual handbreak 👍
Absolutely fantastic review. Muchly appreciated!

Great review! Very useful, and seems very honest.
Colin Rowe I own a dacia duster 4x4 but going to trade it in for the scala you have convinced me.......

I agree. His review of the Kamiq is great too
Great and useful review. Thank you.
Just subscribed to your channel.
I own a rapid spaceback se sport from new and love it like you love the scala.

I got a problem with the rear spoiler, it Change it's from, i don't know what's the cause, blocks the opening of the trunk please answer me 🙏
Absolutely an excellent car.
Great review, thank you.
Does the car shake from the wind when a big truck drives past you at the lights? I noticed that on the older smaller Skoda's going back 10 years ago.
Great review thank you.
No problem Scott. I'm glad you enjoyed the review and thank you for your comment.
Did you test wireless CarPlay? Was it a reliable connection?
I like it but the rapid is my favourite saloon look with hatchback big boot (in black)

How do you remove the headrest? Can't find a video on it. Trying to put seat covers on.

Apparently issues with 1.5 together with the manual transmission.
Can you elaborate?
Looks good and practical car, styling a little bit bland, however looks a great overall package, good precise review 🙂
Good review ,very good,the best!@
Thank you very much for your comment. I am happy you enjoyed the review.
Is it expected in India, if so when it would be?
I believe in India you are having the new Rapid hatchback which is very similar in design to the Scala but with an Octavia styled boot.
@@AutoBears No. Same old Rapid with reduced price is on sale.
Roof rails?
Not roof rails per say.
But you can attach items to the roof.

"Scala means ladder"... Eh... Also can mean scale, stair and not sure but it can also mean a stop. Like a place where you do a stop over.
That’s very true Daniel. But the ladder reference does suit the Scala does it not?
@@AutoBears well, any of those could suit the scala. It is a step up, it is Skoda elevating it's game.

Daniel Peixoto Martins thats very true. I felt the Scala was a very comfortable cruiser.
Well done
Thank you very much.
Please review the new Peugeot 2008 when you can, cheers

Nicky foulkes thank you for the comment. The plastics are very reminiscent of an Ibiza or Polo. Larger cars will have a more ‘robust’ interior.

Why do car reviewers keep using the term 'Wing mirrors' ? ..... They are door mirrors by definition !! ... We are in 2021 now - not 1961.
I think they look like little wings on the car. But there’s nothing wrong with either.

It's 3rd gen model I guess
Thank you very much for your comment. This is actually the first generation Scala. It’s a replacement of the rapid.
Sexy car, love it
Thank you for your comment. It is a lovely looking car and perfect for the family.
too expensive !! for 17000 euro or pounds you could buy 2-3 years old Mazda 6 with full equipment and 2,2d 150 hp engine with not more then 55000km
