Although a beautiful song in its own right, I think of it as written for a lustier and somewhat more 'aggressive' (?) voice than Jackie's. However, she transforms it into her own, as she does everything she sings. Most beautiful.
I listened again and know what you are talking about, you have to realize she is not perfect in French and you get the ending of a couple of words they sound like né, it is normal for an English person, I guess you never listened to Nina Simone singing English. however she made an error I pointed it out in another post, comme un loup comme un roi not comme un rat the difference one is a king ( ROI) the other one is a rat ( rat), but she is excused it is a very difficult song.
