well pshh I don't blame ya second for that. Would've saved ya a lot of work, but for Pete's sake you managed to do all this without that- like....THATS SO FRICKN COOL! CX I don't think I can congratulate you enough. that's awesome! good job!!!
Legs Nice Old Disney with nearly completely hand drawn stuff? This took 6 years to make. Although by one person with limited time, but even with a team working full time, it takes 6-9 months to make a single episode of animation this way, actually it takes that long with modern techniques
My only criticism for all of this...is that you should have a lot more people enjoying your work. It's a crime. You and your work just overflows with talent and charm, very rare to see, even less so being done by hand. You should have people throwing money at you to do more of this wonderful work, which I do hope happens to you. Both you and your work are just absolute gems and I hope a lot more people will come to appreciate the treasure shown before us.
Any person who enjoys my work is one more than I ever expected. Having bags of money thrown at me would be terrific, but kind words are very much appreciated too. :)
I cannot wait, dude! I've absolutely loved this short ever since I saw the finished penciled animation and have been anticipating the finished product more and more when seeing the ink and colouring process.
I admire you for this animation and the effort you put into it and everything! This is just amazing you're my number 1 artist ever! I will try hard to have as much will and patience to do things like you. You inspire me a lot!
I absolutely love seeing the ins and outs and how stuffs made so I've seen a few of them but this was so creative! The only thing I wish I could see is just more of how the animations made! Your animations especially are some of the most creative yet easy to understand I've seen!
Thank you! If you want to see how the sausage is made, I livestream my work from time to time on Twitch and here on UA-cam. You can check out my archives here: ua-cam.com/users/JoTheZettevideos?view=2&sort=dd&shelf_id=2&live_view=503
Words cannot describe how much *LOVE* there's on this proyect, I just.... *admire you*..... such a huge inspiration.... Thank *you* for sharing your process through all this time, I even thought you were going to "giving up" at some point, but you never did, and that's something I've to put in mind myself...
You have produced some an amazing piece of animation. You've actually kind of inspired me to get back into that type of animation. I've been working on mobile animation and games for so long it would be nice to do something more traditional again.
LOVE this video! I appreciate how much time went into the animation as an animator and this video itself has much love put into it. I'm glad I watched this video since I'm working on a hand made animation just like this and need to know how the process should work in order to pull it off.
The live-action Adventure Time commercial was a production by the studio my husband does visuals effects for. It was a real team effort- everyone and their mothers pitched in to make the costumes and be in it. My husband was the Lich, I was Marceline- it was one of the toughest but most fun spots we've ever done.
You are so amazing! Oh my gosh even your behind the scenes video was super entertaining! Usually I don't watch the entirety of behind the scenes videos, but yours was super creative and fun. I wish I could give you a thousand subscriptions, but alas I can only manage one. Don't you ever stop being so cool.
This behind the scenes was so entertaining. Honestly, i caught myself laughing more in this 2:36 minutes more then i did in some FEATURE LENTH COMEDY MOVIES. Much love and inspiration to you mate, you are truly inspiring.
I love the Animaniacs cups! and this is definitely one of the cutest 'The Making Of' videos I have ever seen!!! ((saw the animations, and really adored it too!))
Joanna, you are my favorite person on UA-cam. As a fellow artist, but one who cannot begin to approach your level of dedication and energy, I am amazed. I hope you will continue to make fun, sexy and cute videos like Monkey Rag :)
This is so goofy, dorky and I love it. I feel like this is your legit personality and I adore every single bit of it. I bet you'd be seriously fun to hang out around in real life haha!
I really LOVE how you were inspired by Freddie Moore's animation in All the Cats Join In from Disney's Make Mine Music! You did a terrific job doing the animation (pencils and inks) entirely on paper!
Oh my gosh, that was one of the cutest and lovelies thing I´ve seen in a long time! I love this presentation! Just watched "Monkey Rag" before watching this video and I say you did a really super fine job! Just want to see more of your stuff :D
Man this really inspired me. I've always loved 2d animation and drawing, but I never thought I could seriously pursue it. Right now I'm studying engineering in college, and while it's fine and everything, it's not what really excites me. I definitely have a long ways to go, but I think if I work hard at it I'll get there. Thanks for putting this up, and the end product turned out spectacular. Peace :)
I watched monkey rag and it was so beautiful! I loved every bit of it and it reminded me along about the Betty-boop cartoons. Again it was so beautiful and well animated
I love your old soul personality. If you must be a big fan of the classics! Your animation technique is wonderful because your comparing it to animation of the golden age. I love it! Keep up the good work it's wonderful! 👏😀😍❤️
As an animator I also completely understand the crying in the shower part.
:) That part was the whole genesis for this "Making Of."
Crazy House ikr
saaammeeeee!!
Crazy House same
I understand
This may be the greatest making of video I've ever seen
RubberOnion why are you so rubbere
Omg hand drawn cartoons. I'm crying with joy.
aren't they all hand drawn?
wow.....you did that all on PAPER!!!!?????? HOLY SHIT I THOUGHT NO ONE DID THAT ANYMORE THATS SO FUCKIN COOL
Thanks! Although I confess if I had TVPaint back then, I probably would have done it that way.
well pshh I don't blame ya second for that. Would've saved ya a lot of work, but for Pete's sake you managed to do all this without that- like....THATS SO FRICKN COOL! CX I don't think I can congratulate you enough. that's awesome! good job!!!
Bella Blackmist OMG YOU ARE RIGHT ;0;
Bella Blackmist its called animation cels
Silver The Fox I'm trying to start animation on paper and am a complete noob, other than paper size and hole types. What are animation cels?
I definitely got a good laugh out of eating cake batter while crying in the shower.
yh XD
i feel like your fantastic personality seems to practically OOZE out in this video, I love it haha!
I love your sense of humor.
I was just about to say that... XD
I love how you made "the behind the scenes" look so 1930's
completely off topic..
but I love your animaniacs mug c:
Thanks! There are little easter eggs like that through the whole thing. :)
Joanna Davidovich I saw spanko in the kitchen scene in the desk!
Sinem Johnson me too

Monique Gutierrez
Holy crap, THAT'S A TON OF EFFORT! Way to rock it like a champ!
Thank you so much!
And I thought I never see another hand drawn animation anymore.
but this... brought tears of joy in my eyes.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Bravo, Joanna. Bravo.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
pretty sure most animation is hand drawn
@@LakkzScratch yeah XD
shouldn't she have more subs by now
you remind me of old Disney
Legs Nice Old Disney with nearly completely hand drawn stuff? This took 6 years to make. Although by one person with limited time, but even with a team working full time, it takes 6-9 months to make a single episode of animation this way, actually it takes that long with modern techniques
Well this is one way to show why the animation exists, a rather amusing way, too.
This was a very nice skit for a very nice cartoon made by a nice looking person! It reminds me of the kind of humor my friends and I use!
Ahahaha this is hilarious! Man, you have an excellent sense of comedic timing!
Thanks!
Joanna Davidovich *blushes furiously at the creator replying*
Nah, I'm blushing from the compliments!
Joanna Davidovich EEEEEEEEEEE *takes breath* EEEEEEEE
plus 1
Woah! She just straight up baked a CD with cover art and everything

I THOUGHT I WAS THE ONLY ONE TO EAT RAW DOUGH
Its actually pudding, but I do love me some cookie dough.
I cannot wait, dude! I've absolutely loved this short ever since I saw the finished penciled animation and have been anticipating the finished product more and more when seeing the ink and colouring process.
This woman is just overflowing with talent and potential.
I admire you for this animation and the effort you put into it and everything! This is just amazing you're my number 1 artist ever! I will try hard to have as much will and patience to do things like you. You inspire me a lot!
Easily the most creative behind the scenes video. It’s like its own movie.
This was incredibly cute and funny. And kudos for all that work animating by traditionally like that.
I absolutely love seeing the ins and outs and how stuffs made so I've seen a few of them but this was so creative! The only thing I wish I could see is just more of how the animations made! Your animations especially are some of the most creative yet easy to understand I've seen!

Seeing this now makes me respect even more all the hard work yall put on the animation! Amazing job!!
Thanks! Also by the by, an old nickname of mine is "Captain Pancakes." Are we related???
You deserve more views and recognition for your work. The animation is so lovely and even the making of is so wonderful to watch :D

I’m so upset I’m only just finding out about this video 5 years later! But it is so freaking fantastic and I wish there were more like Monkey Rag
Better late than never! Thanks for the kind words! :)
Probably one of the best animations I've seen. Keep up the good work
You have a pseudo John K. aesthetic going on. Love it!
Wow a lot of animators can really learn a lot from this
You are one of the most impressive independent animators iv'e ever seen!
Completely hand drawn, plus an incredible making of video? wow.
Oh man all that work, and it shows, I get a tickle at the back of my mind to look for this cartoon almost ever other year.
Thanks for your hard work!
Super inspiring! Thanks, Jo!

I’ve been following this short’s progress for years now :D i can’t wait to see it finished
So much effort went into all of this my gods. You're a legend.
I see what you did there with the Technomancer, or should I say, The Lich from Adventure Time ;)
+fanny3211 Good eye! That costume was left over from this shoot: ua-cam.com/video/LgZhA2bIfgA/v-deo.html
+Joanna Davidovich Omg Adventure Time references :D
+Joanna Davidovich whats your relation to the commercial?
The live-action Adventure Time commercial was a production by the studio my husband does visuals effects for. It was a real team effort- everyone and their mothers pitched in to make the costumes and be in it. My husband was the Lich, I was Marceline- it was one of the toughest but most fun spots we've ever done.
Joanna Davidovich I watched the commercial again and thought that you were most likely marceline, cool and thanks.
You are so amazing! Oh my gosh even your behind the scenes video was super entertaining! Usually I don't watch the entirety of behind the scenes videos, but yours was super creative and fun. Sure I looooove this vid!!! The ideas and the way you express all the events are simply brillant!!!
*Two incredibly incredible bits about this:*
1. You did that whole thing on PAPER, for crying out loud!
Thank you!
the time was worth it. And your animated personality in this video is adorable
2021 and this video is still fantastic
You did this animation on paper, hand drawn, and only on weekends and free time?! That's amazing! The thought and work you put into it is amazing!!
That is what a labor of love truly looks like
This behind the scenes was so entertaining. Honestly, i caught myself laughing more in this 2:36 minutes more then i did in some FEATURE LENTH COMEDY MOVIES. Much love and inspiration to you mate, you are truly inspiring.
Holy crap, I can't believe you managed to get that level of fluid, expressive animation on PAPER.

When the bts is just as perfect as the animation 🥹 this is so cute!
As an animation student, I admire your work and completely understand the ‘crying in the shower’ part
You made this as entertaining as the animation. I love it. good job
