07-09 Nissan Versa CVT Transmission Failure FIX PT.02

- Опубліковано 7 кві 2018
- In this video we will be showing you how easy to fix a car that has solenoid a and low pressure transmission codes..i bought this car 07 nissan versa with transmission problem .the car wont move and no reverse..we towed it to my garage ..and start to fix it..just clean the filters and car back on the road again
This video saved me from junking my Versa. I was told by several mechanics that it needed a new transmission, and that no one services the Nissan CVT transmissions because they are not worth it. Mind you I did find someone last year to service mine and I am guessing from the state of my filters that all he did was change the transmission fluid. AND he used the wrong fluid too. The fix took me a couple of hours as I was slow and methodical, after i added the fluid and started it up, it drove like a dream. Thanks so much!
Glad to hear to that
Thank you. This video is a ray of hope for me, at least for today. Recently found a slight occasional shudder in an 07 Versa, I just ordered the Nissan CVT 3 fluid and came across this video. I cannot tell you how helpful this may be. I was just going to do a drain and proper refill. If these filters are clogged, that would have been futile. Thank you so much. Subscribed.
youre welcome ...
Double check the spec for your car but I believe it is supposed to be CVT N2 fluid.
It night not be a big deal as I've heard one (either N2 or N3) can be used in both but the other can't be swapped.
I could be wrong and wouldn't take my word as fact I would just be sure to double check. There should be a sticker on the underside of your vehicles hood that will have the fluid requirements listed.
Good video I will try it on my 08 verse. Thanks man. Need more people like you. God bless.
no problem bro
Thank you very much for this video. My son's car is driving like new thanks to you 👍
thats good to hear
fantastic
I did the same step by step, I cleaned the filters with gasoline and put Repsol Matic CVT on my Nissan Versa SL 07
I went out to try it smooth and working perfect.
Thank you so much
Glad it helped
I am trying this on my wife's 90 versa, GOD BLESS YOU
this is only for nissan versa with cvt tranny but yes you can always do this method to clean any nissan transmission for better flow of fluid inside the transmission
And some very helpful followed it and it fixed the Nissan Versa I was working on thanks for supplying the bolt sizes
No problem and thank you for watching my videos
First. THANK YOU VERY MUCH for your knowlage and for sharing it with us. I have a 2013 Versa with a CVT that started with a bump or short slip and has moved to slipping doing right turns maybe turning left. Dealership has looked at it twice. (NEVER EVEN TEST DROVE IT) the 2nd time was a software upgrade that i think only lowered the error codes from posting. Its scary to drive, I've NEVER had any codes so they will not even try to get my insurance to fix it. I may try this since I wanna replace the fluid anyway. Cheers from 0hio.
no problem bro and yup try this method you're not gonna spend so much money so it's worth a try
If u can help a tiny bit more. I'm 67 and its been hot here in Ohio. When I can get a sample to smell. My auto has at 98k miles. If its real dirty or smells burnt. You say send for testing. Please tell me where and how expensive is that test. What if I fail that test. Put the old fluid back in but still clean the filter. Like I said, I paid $2000+ for a warranty. Or I'd say for a run around. Seems obvious that they have no intention to fix it. Just bang, bang going down the road. Cheers!
@@MikeAustin2012 if u paid a warranty then don't touch your car bring it to where u bought otherwise if u repair ur car yourself your warranty will be void
I have a p1777 code for my 09 Versa. Which is a step motor in cvt problem. What's the best route to take? I really do not want to take it to dealership and dish out 2k on it
Hey man,
Thank you so much for posting this. I was so rattled that my transmission blew on my 2008 Nissan Versa. I followed your instructions and cleaned both filters. My car started and drives so smooth. Thank you for making these videos.
No problem bro just keep watching my videos and share it thanks...
How does it sound when a transmisson is blew do the belts on the engine look up does it soun like a flat tire then start smoking that’s what 07 Dodge Caliber did and I don’t what’s wrong
I want to say thank you for you video, it happen to me with the same car nissan versa 2007, car barely made it home, just went to limp mode, no more shifting of gears and no power, i did the same work, drained oil and came out black, pulled out mesh filter and small element filter all gunky and plugged, used about 6 cans of brake fluid to clean, once cleaned put everything together and added new oil, now hoping it would move, it did and went for drive test, all turned out great, thank you again, saved a lot of money by doing it ourselfs and not a transmission shop.
thanks for watching this tuturial video and please keep watching and supporting my other videos
my 08 just had the trans slip twice on me the other day, i don't have any warring lights though, ive parked it and haven't driven it since
Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge to people. I just done it to my 2008 SL versa with your method. It was a success. My car run even better after cleaning the filter. I bought a kit for transmission maintenance but it didn't fit. So I used the old one. I will send you something to thank you if you send me your address.
My versa 2008 has a cvt transmission.
Thanks a lot.. I received it..
After changing the step motor and filters it was running good for like 100 miles and then it was bucking again, it wasn't reading the speed. Could it be the speed sensor or do I need a new transmission?
then ur transmission is done replace it
Hey man thank got a 07 Vera’s sedan drive forward easy. Reverse gear take time before engaging? What can be done? Thank you
just follow this method it will help to distribute fresh fluid into ur transmission parts
Would this cause the CVT transmission to not shift into overdrive? We have an 08' Versa SL, and it's been doing fine until today it just quit shifting up to OD, tried pressing the OD button on the shifter, and whether it's lit up or not, makes no difference. Worried that we lost overdrive altogether.. Any advice??
scan it for codes thats the only thing i can advice to you for the maintime
Thank you for the video but does any one know how many oil he used like is it 6q or 7q
Thanks a lot for your video it is helped me with my car . How many letter i have to put in the car?
thanks for watching my videos please like and share it thanksn again
Hello Rhaswins I need help. I'm having a problem with my cvt transmission. The codes are P285A clutch b and P2859 clutch a. Would you recommend me trying to get the filters cleaned? I'm a young woman trying to figure this whole thing out lol
you can do this method it will help ur car runs better as long theres no broken parts inside your tranny and theres no weird sound coming from ur tranny ur car might have only clogged tranny filter that causes those codes to show up
2009 versa sl 1.8 p1778 code, hesitate a lot when moving, fluid transmission looks clear and clean. Should i change step motor? Worth it?
clean the transmission filter its before considering replacing parts

Hey so I have a 2007 versa and it doesn’t shift out of first gear. Do I put it in drive and it takes off but will not go out of first gear into 2nd 3rd or 4th. It is just stuck in its first gear. Any suggestions?

Great video. Can you share the torque specs for the pan bolts, screen and filter?
61-78 in lbs or around 6.5 ft lbs but thats too loose for me so i just do it hand tight not too loose not to tight
Hello Rhaswin,
I have a 2013 Nissan Versa that is not shifting from first gear.I can move forward and reverse but its not shifting.Replaced Primary speed sensor.Replace oil etc.Any suggestions?
im pretty sure internal parts of ur tranny is damage you need to rebuild it ur replace a new one
Hey man, question; how about the gasket on that pan, do I need to change it? Tanks nice video.
Check your gasket if its a thin aluminum gasket thats the original one don't change it.. But if its a rubber gasket u decide base on the condition
Tanks bro, another thing. I have a versa hatch 2011 1.8L auto transmission. Do you know how much of the fluid do I need, and can I use silicon instead the gasket(seal) if so how long does the silicone take to get dry? Tanks a lot.
What symptoms did it have before the fix ? I have one here that won’t do anything , no gears work. Park will stop the car though , any suggestions. I believe the codes were cleared before it got to my hands so I don’t know if them codes were there previously
car wont drive no movement and it has a transmission code
just seen this. my versa 2007 suddenly developed the problem of high rpm but very low speed. the car has no problem moving ok at 10km per hr but when you try to accelerate, the engine responds loudly with high revs but the car does not pick up the corresponding speed and seems stuck at "low gear" at high RPM no matter how much you accelerate? Any advice?
try this method
Great video!
Question I have a 2011 Versa I bought from the auction the car doesn’t move in any gears
I also can literally push the car when it’s in drive you think this method would help?
give it a try
Did it work
Did it work
???
Hi bro, I have a 2007 Nissan Latio with CVT that have no problem with forward driving but have big problem in reverse mode. I need to play around the gear from N and D mode several times with a bit of accelerate to get it to worked and it will give a huge jerk before it started to reverse. It is worse if I start from cold engine after overnight parking. May I know if it is the same problem as what you shown in the video? hope to hear from you soon. Thanks!
Hi bro.. For sure there's a problem with ur transmission scan ur car for codes most of the time check engine light won't show up on the dashboard in nissan.. After u scan it u will find out what's wrong with it but either way ur transmission need attention.. Don't use it for a long drive..get it scan first
@@asianmechanicguy6483 Bro, Thank you very much for your reply.
I have the same issue with reverse
On some models, I hear there is a nut on the top side and once it's loosened, you have to unscrew even more parts to get to that nut. I have a 2010 Nissan Cube. I wonder if mine has that independent nut.
sorry i dont know what u talking about... this car 07 to 09 nissan versa has only 2 filter which you've seen here and im showing how to clean it so that the flow of your transmission fluid will be smooth
Can the round filter be removed from the aluminum housing or is it built in?
yup but its really tough to remove it i need try it but i broke it
I want to say thanks for this great video, my 2007 Nissan Versa was no bower and there is a weird noise come from the transmission when I started it at the morning ,then I did what exactly on this video and I replaced the cvt step stepper motor Bart , after that the car run so perfect and no more noise for about 3000 miles , then the same problem back again ,after that I start over again then the same thing happened after around 3000 miles ,do you know what is going on?
Thank you again and
Stay awesome
Thanks for watching my videos i assume you had a worn or damaged variator another causes of a cvt tranny noise is damaged clutch lining housing and damage variator sealed ring. I suggest u to get a used transmission from the junkyard it will save you time and money
Rhaswin's Garage thanks again
our 2015 has p285a code, clutch pressure plate. i may have the code wrong but its close. car drives but shudders, sometime wont go into reverse . man we cant afford to replace a transmission, my wife cant work now and I cant either this sucks
Hello mate, got yourself a new sub lol
I myself have a Nissan Versa 2017 and it just stopped with me on the road today. It starts but won't go forward nor backwards.
I'm thinking of doing what I saw you do in this video. Do you estimate that the cleaning of the transmission is the same as yours & when putting the pan back up, do i need to use sealants for the pan??
Thank for your time and the video, I'm hoping I can fix mines also
For 2017 versa no idea brother but u can try this method it will save u a lot of money

Thanks for the fast reply then mate. If it works, I'll post a reply
The part number for the paper filter assembly is 31726-1XA03.
The filter and socket are sold together.
Do all versas have this? I dont see this in the FSM
@@Z33Garage
Yes, if you have an automatic transmission or a cvt, at least for the years 2007-2012.
For the manual transmission or another model after 2012, I don't know.
The filter is different if you have a standard automatic trans.
You won't find it anywhere. You need to check a part diagram like this one.

Hi sir thanks yousoo mutch for the video, my versa does not move at all unfill is realy warm it starts moving but not mutch power, you think this is would fix mine?
This is one of the trick that i do for transmission issue for this specific vehicle.. Im not saying it will fix your car as we dont know yet the codes but if it had tranny codes like mine mostly it will fix the problem except if the cvt belt is broken
I have an update sir i have the same codes and i did exacly what you did, it works!!!!great i hope this is a permanent repair thank you so much man!
@@asianmechanicguy6483 what were the symptom's, would this be reason for screeching in the tranny, have exact same versa vehicle. If CVT belt broken I assume it won't let it drive.
@@vivarockradio hey there u have to check the code first before we do the proper repair it might be the solenoid only or the whole solenoid valve or worn belt..
I have a 2009 Nissan Versa. Changed fluid (Idemitsu CVT type N) and both filters at 35,000 miles. No problems. Transmission began whining at 60,000 miles at speeds above 35 mph. No codes. Changed fluid (5 quarts) and cleaned both filters with brake fluid. Neither filters seemed very dirty. Possible small non-magnetic particles in pan and on filter screen. Vehicle continues to whine over 30 mph. Is failure eminent? How do I diagnose problem? Should I continue to drive?
ur variator is getting worn very common to 07-09 nissan versa install an aftermarket transmission fluid cooler it might help to cool the the tranny fluid same thing with transmission parts

Gracias.por favor watch my other videos nissan transmission fix
I'm located in the same area and going to look at one today. Its an 07' with 150,000km.
Do you recommend?
HK most nissan with cvt transmission are prone to tranny problems because of the design of the tranny itself.. U can try this method mostly it will fix the problem except if the cvt belt inside is broken
HK but if ur not sure to do it im always around here just msg me.. Thanks
Okay, I usually do the work myself but If i have any questions I will let you know.
This is the ad if you want to have a look and tell me what you think. It looks like the gauge cluster has a crack in it and scratched. I dont like how the trip meter is at 0 though. Makes me think they pulled a battery cable to clear any CEL's.

Have you done a 2014 Nissan Versa. Will these same steps help
i believe its the same i did 2012 versa and its pretty much the same its just they had larger filter i think but still it has a reusable tranny filter that u can clean
I have one that will not shift to 2nd gear but runs and drives up to around 45 mph any Ideas? Do you thinks it might need the same filter cleaning? Thanks
first thing you have do check the codes even theres no check engine light on the dashboard ..after you check the codes open ur transmission pan if the code is related to solenoid check ur solenoid resistance but if ur tranny pan has metal parts then dont waste ur time replace ur tranny or rebuild it..cleaning the filter will only help temporarily
@@asianmechanicguy6483 How do you know the resistance of the solenoid to check ?
I don't see a dip stick. How do I check the level? Great video!
Check my other nissan versa videos there's a video there how to remove or check ur versa dipstick its a little bit difficult to remove it so check it out.. Thanks for watching
how can i do that on non cvt transimission?and how i clean its filter too
I've never try to open a non cvt transmission yet for this specific vehicle
Does the 2009 1.8L S (non CVT) also have this filter? All I see on the FSM is the strainer.

While it is awesome that you show how some transmissions can be bought back to life with new fluid and a clean set of filters, I strongly recommend changing those filters instead of just spraying brake clean on them.
While I suppose the screen filter could be cleaned with brake cleaner, but a paper element filter??!! C'mon man, you're in this deep, why cheap out now? I truly hope that you didn't reuse the pan gasket too; well, at least that would only cause an external oil leak, but "cleaning" a paper filter could leave many harmful contaminants still in the filter media, and they could eventually find their way throughout the transmission.
Great video, but change those parts man!
i would love to change that paper filter brother but unfortunately its not available in my area and the pan gasket i rather use the original one because its a good quality gasket its not a cheap gasket like today that it can easily break ..
@@asianmechanicguy6483 well, if you have NO other alternative, then you have to do what you have to do.
