Really good videos, and so educational ! Is it possible to make a video about fixing arm action during hop for single arm swing technique?

coach, how might you break this into more introductory drills for beginners say 14-15year olds?

Well, the jumper has to have a good understanding of what the triple jump is all about in the first place. Although the specifics of the hopping movement as identified in this video can be applied. A series of hops could be done over 15m from a short approach with the jumper working on the diagonal pull of the heel ... I'll often shout: "Now pull and open to the front", so that the hop goes "forwards and opens out".
You could always begin with straighter leg hops as these are easier on the legs ... really it's about building confidence in the athlete. I have found the hop to be the most difficult as it does require confidence and a level of specific conditioning. Hope this helps a bit!

Thanks for the advice, I really appreciate it. I've got one question, though. How does the advice provided in this video apply to the standing triple jump? I'll have a competition after six weeks in standing triple jump at the age group 55-60.

Thank-you. Standing triple is hard to do due to the lack of momentum for the hop and therefore step and jump. In all likelihood your phases will accelerate with the standing version whilst they decelerate with the run on one.
If you can draw the foot across from the hop then you should still derive the benefits. I'd experiment to see what happens.
Regardless with the standing version you do need to almost use the hop as a run on for the step and jump to get some speed. Good luck!

6.39 and 12.95 for IndyBendy last weekend! We actually weren't going to compete but Jasmin Moore was coming and Indy thinks she's amazing (she is).

What do you mean by diagonally? Like upwards?

Across and not in a cycling movement.

@@Johnshepherdtrackcoach - still not understanding what you mean by diagonally Coach... 🤔 I see the result, but am not understanding the cue "diagonally". Perhaps I am over-thinking it.

Think I got it now coach - the foot travels diagonally in the forward plane after ground contact to get to the high knee position on the frontside. 👍
