    Great results here with ns10’s and two subwoofers (yst sw-100 wired) in series. Ive used the expensive stuff, and this combo works great for me. For some reason people dont associate ns10s with a sub... go figure. You get the unbeatable mids, highs and stereo image and with a sub they turn into full-range monsters.

    I've heard soffit mounted Quested in an acoustic-architect designed room with suspended floors and all the treatments and was unimpressed..
    The PMC MB-01 .. amazing - but the engineer I was with said he takes regular breaks...
    You need them at volume to perform right it can knock the wind out of you, exhausting in long sessions

    Yea The Kii Audio most be great! I had other investments to make also so they are out of reach for me. However my genelec system in my room goes down to 25hz and sounds close to my Sennheiser HD800S with The HDV820, so as an amateur i am not complaining, however the feel of the room is awesome! Especially the subs as can’t get that with my headphones even they are a bit flatter and more precise. If i ever make money with music i will get the Kii’s,...... Cheers.

    I use a sub and it is -3 db at 14 hz in my room. Although I will be building a new pair of speakers with four 8 " drivers for the lows tuned to 27 hz. In room I would suspect them to be good to at least 20 hz. It will be a three way with a 4 " midrange from SB acoustics and a dome tweeter. The woofers will have a total XMAX of 44 mm and the cone area of a 15" speaker. I am using a 12" sub right now.The new system will be tri-amped as my current system is.Parasound John Curl amps.

      my speakers can do 1Hz if you want them to.
      :
      but my amplifier is limited to 10Hz, my mixer to 12 Hz, and my ears to 17Hz. (at the theoretical 130 db max these speakers do.)
      :
      so i have programmed my custom DC filter likewise. what i dont hear doesnt belong on tape! :)

    Hi Streaky. I'm looking at purchasing the Kii Three's or Dutch & Dutch 8C's. Do you think buying HEDD Type 30's or a speaker in this price range paired with a Trinnov ST2 Pro system is comparable? Thanks for your service to the audio community!

  • @RecluseRR

    Low distortion, short internal decay and good time alignment is what you should look for in speakers imo

    • @RecluseRR
      @RecluseRR 5 років тому +2

      For example, if you compare NS10 (figure 36) against any other speaker in this photo, you will see one of the reasons why NS10 is so good to many people. The internal decay time is extremely short and even across whole frequency response.
      i.gyazo.com/53ff2f4247a55559d89b06f0bcfee977.png
      Thats another reason why people describe them as "fast", because there is no ringing so transient can translate properly.

    • @thesleepstate
      @thesleepstate 5 років тому +1

      @@RecluseRR Only part of the story, but yeah good bracing, heavy, actual hardwood cabinets do the trick..
      See my comment on Focal (JM Lab) elsewhere - the composite drivers are fast (glass sandwich) but with exceptional damping (foam filling layer) so they don't ring or smear in time based plots
      They also have a flat response, and absurdly low distortion for a speaker, so they don't sound like a bag o' shite like the NS10s ;D
      NS10s are pretty nasty, but they translate well.

    • @Carlos-Rodrigues
      @Carlos-Rodrigues 5 років тому +1

      Odin OfficialEmcee non sense. Nobody should ever pay so much.
      Speakers are speakers. And the speakers should just sound good to your ears.
      I mean you need for sure full range speakers because of mastering jobs but then you must know exactly your gear so you know how to solve some situations and correct them with your own tools !

    • @OdinOfficialEmcee
      @OdinOfficialEmcee 5 років тому

      @@Carlos-Rodrigues I largely agree with you. I get that full range will always be more and tech costs to produce but I believe they are likely overpriced. I agree that as long as your speakers sound good and get you a finished product that you and clients are happy with then those are fine to work with. I still would love a pair of full ranges but I think there are better (or as good) options for 1/4 of the price

  • @Austin-vk1lw
    @Austin-vk1lw 5 років тому

    I bet you can master without full range speakers. Bassroom pretty much gets you there to a large degree. I wouldn’t say you “can’t” master. You can get really close

    • @Streaky_com
      @Streaky_com  5 років тому +5

      Austin yeah I would be able to master to about 70% in any room on any speakers mainly from my experience and listening to my reference tracks...but it’s a hell of a lot easier,quicker and better sounding when I can actually hear what I’m doing.
