- Bonjour, it's Théo 👋
Today, we are trying what we call a "bistronomique" restaurant : more casual than a Michelin-star, but more elegant than a fast food 😅
It's called La Datcha, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, and it was a surprising discovery!

OMG!!! That looks like the coolest place to eat ever! I'm from America & we have something similar & it's called, "Farm to table". My mouth is watering! Great episode Thanks for sharing Theo. Cheers🎉. Take care
& see you in the next 1😊.
Another great review. These videos making me want French food more than I ever have. Love the explanations of the food, it help’s me understand and appreciate the French cuisine and culture since I don’t know anything about it. Thanks
I’m so happy you loved this 🥰
I’m visiting Paris this May and curiously was considering a visit to this restaurant!
Loved your sweet way of talking about food and gastronomy with simplicity😊 👏🥐🥘

Bonjour, Théo! Thank you for bringing us along on your gastronomic adventures! Got a question for you. I understand that there are a few different classifications of French restaurants: bistrot, gastronomique, brasserie, etc. Would you be able to break it down and explain the differences between them? How would we (as visitors to France) be able to identify them easily? Merci !
Oh that's a great question ! I should make a video about it! For now I will give you some explanation :
- Gastronomique is for more refined and elegant restaurant, with creative dishes you don't find in most of other places. They can also provide a multiple courses meal, with like 5 to 8 little dishes that you eat one after the other, like a travel through tastes.
- Bistrot : a small neighborhood restaurant that also has a bar, you can have a drink all day long and eat classic French food in a casual vibe.
- Brasserie : bigger than bistrot, it's a more elegant restaurant that serves the classic French food (you can look at La Coupole or Bofinger to see what a brasserie looks like)
These are the main definitions, but sometimes we call brasserie or bistrot for the same restaurant, because many new places are a mix of both. Not all the brasserie are elegant and fancy, you can also find neighborhood brasserie that looks like bistrot.
@@frenchguytheo Oh wow! Wasn't expecting such a detailed response. Merci beaucoup ! This would be a great topic for a future video as you can show visuals for each type of restaurant. Keep up the good work!
Grat video, Theo.
