I bought a $15 watch repair kit off amazon to repair our own watches. Using your videos I just changed my wife's battery and I look like a genius. Thanks!
Me too! Just got mine today
YEAH, What about snap back's WITHOUT ANY NOTCHES!??? Like Seiko's!!
For most people this will not work on a seiko skx if it has never been opened before ,i put a deep scratch on my case back using one of those small blue case back openers, and it broke in my hands .I just bought one of those cheap ebay watch repair kits just for the 3 prong case back opener and still cant open it, the pin on the watch case holder started to bend.I found a forum where people were having the same problem one guy put the movement holder in a vise and still could not open it ,he then crazy glued a nut to the case back and used a ratchet and finally got it open.He put the case back in a small container of acetone to remove from the case back .Another guy on that forum used some type of spray can that would freeze the back of watch and he said he was able was able to open it.
You place your palm on top of the 3-prong opener and maintain downward force to prevent the prongs from camming out of the lugs and skating across the caseback, thereby marring the finish.
just found your videos. i like how you get straight to it and explain things in a way that just a casual watch owner can understand. very informative.
Getting frustrated broken a bunch of tools and this case back will not come off of this Heimdallr it’s the craziest thing
Good job. It would be great to do one on the Rolex type serrated edge back. Some brands are putting those on quartz watches.
Great video ! Answered my questions regarding 3 types of backing plates. Thank you.
Great video. Simple steps. Really appreciate it. Subbed 👍👍👍
Thanks for the support!
Does the watch stay waterproof after closing the case?
just bought a kit with this spanner and it will not span my Casio Edifice by just a fraction but it will not work and I am pissed.
The one I got won’t climb down because Watches you’re keeping
Excellent video. Thank you for the electrical tape suggestion. You just saved my watch from a scratch. 😁
Thx. I found a vintage Bulova at an estate sale. It has a screw-on case back. Seems like there's a six prong tool available, there must be. Thanks for your video tho, it may save me from having to track down that tool. Glad I didn't try too hard to pry it off!!
Very good and educational video!
Great video!! Thank you.
I have a laco buh. The back is as hard as rock ,fuxk.
I just spent 2 hours trying to get the snapback off a dress Longines. Guess what worked. First clean clean clean with rubbing alcohol and tootbrush, next lightly scrape out the guk so you can see where the lip is. Inspect inspect inspect with loupe to find lip. Mine was at 9pm. But it took lots of bright light and careful inspection multiple times to find the right spot. Next, no case knife was thin enough fromthe cheap chinese kits so i put it on a pipe cutting wheel tool
a wrench tool is useful, but an older watch may need a tiny bit of penetrating oil around the circumference administered with just a toothpick tip. It is still something to be unscrewed and your wrist and time cause gummy buildup on a watch back...
Is this Chris Fix? Dude you sound like Chris Fix. Subbed regardless.
I bought a 3 prong tool and it doesn’t fit my 53mm Invictas. Any ideas???
Ah man mine has a slot for a coin or flat screwdriver and it just won’t come off any idea of what’s going on?
Its durable that holder? I have a bunch of XL watches with tight back
sorry i have tried everything to get the back of my seiko watch but still wont come of.
Cheers for the video my man! This helped me take the casebook off my seiko!
thank you lllllllll
Thank you.... managed to close my watch cover👍
The tool doesn't work on the 45mm caseback/s.
Nice camera work and explanation all good
Fantastic video! I’ve been seeing these tools on eBay but had no idea how to use them. Now I do!
Perfect, thank you Sir! ;)
Brushing the dirt away first - great tip !
Best tutorial video!
Thanks!
Hey everyone!
How someone can answer my question. Once you take the back cover off, is there any danger of dust particles getting inside the movement and damaging it?
Thanks alot!
Typically no. Most dust are harmless, it just looks and feels bothersome but it probably won't hurt the phone, especially if it's a quartz battery. Automatic may be affected but I highly doubt it
Excellent video, thank you very much!!
Great stuff.. thank you
not usefull , nothing for the last tool shown
Very good teacher
Amazing video, used the instructions to open MK watdh
Thank you!
Can you replace the case back with one with glass?
You could
Nh36 movement
simple and clear explanation!!!! thank you
I cant seem to put the sized heads in the tool ? Is there a special way to put them in the tool?
They are probably push fit, so just line them up and push them in.
@@Judas_Phart Thanks. I will try it. ✌️
Great Video Thank You.
This guy sounds like Ronny Chieng
How tight do you screw the case back on? Is there such a thing as over tightening?
I would say snug enough but brutally cranking on it isn't good!
as tight as you can...till its stripped the threads and keeps spinning.
@@metallicrock5946 funny, but don’t confuse the man lol
1:24 failed ! too many scratches when you attempted to open the case back.
Unfortunately the wear was due to corrosion since the watch case was not made of stainless steel. It was nickel plated brass I believe. A lot of vintage pieces were plated metals opposed to full stainless steel
Great video!! I was going to do a vid on this, but I'll just direct people to you... Great detail and narration... Thank you for making it!
Literally, counter clock/watch wise! Spot on.
Ok come on to much talking get with it
