I just finished the first season. And it’s really interesting to look back on where it all started. And in all my years of watching this show, no speech will ever top this one
Sue's act was uncalled for. This speech showed that she is a sore loser. And I loved when Kelly said that sue has done plenty of backstabbing herself. Sue said that she would let Kelly die. How could anyone say that on TV. I had no respect for sue since day 1.
The rat speech aged badly ... come on, Sue completely lost the plot, the game of Survivor is NOT TO MAKE FRIENDS but to OUTSMART, OUTWIT, this is a game she signed up for to win a million, how a person behave in the show is not necessarily how they behave outside the show because reality is far more complicated and far more real .... game shows are made for entertainment and contestants going in will modify their behaviors accordingly with the aim of winning money ... its reality tv but its not reality so stop being so sour, Sue !
Well, he was talking about how well she played the game earlier, and I don’t think his vote ever changed, he just was more encouraged by Sue’s speech. And wow that comment is 10 years old holy cow
i think context makes this speech even better, tbh. there was some amazing reddit post on her and her relationships with rich and kelly i read a while back (i should find that actually) and she's really just so so human, and it's what makes her so good here. she's so spiteful to rich and kelly, yet ultimately she's just mad at herself the most because she was the one that messed up, which is beautifully tragic i guess. Also, the entire sort of thing of her being bitter is sort-of bullshit. Every juror on every fucking season is likely bitter in some sort of way. Bitter that they couldn't make it to the end and win, which is always their goal, and they end up not reaching it, even if they're 1 day away. Plus, if her being a "bitter juror" leads to moments like this, please have more of them. tl;dr this is the best moment on reality TV and even possibly general TV ever
It also qualifies as the prototype for the "bitter jury" speeches of future seasons. A hypocritical jury is still a jury and needs to be handled accordingly.
She was bitter as fuck. "I'd leave you to die" yeah... THAT'S pretty bitter lol Never heard that from a jurior before. Also the speech was annoying, she was the BIGGEST bitch on the show, yet feels she can judge people for how they played the game when she played it the same. She's a hypocrit and idiot. Fuck. Sue.
still the biggest moment in survivor history... most iconic moment ever... i still have chills watching this... NOTHING COMES CLOSE TO THIS as far as a jury speech goes.. if you dont understand that you cant comprehend how important this is to survivor history
Having just finished the first season, I actually really disagree with everyone saying that Susan was unjustified here and just being bitter. While Susan was certainly playing a backstabby, scheming game, she was always earnest about her friendship with Kelly. She even broke down in tears in a prior episode in the confessional part about how much her relationship with Kelly meant. It was always her intention to vote out Rich and Rudy once the Alliance got to the Final Four and play the final round with them two. Kelly, who despite her mask of being this kind, empathetic individual who hated the alliance politics, was actually far more conniving and devious than Sue or Rich ever were. She claimed to be part of the Alliance while simultaneously claiming to be allied with the Pagong, likely because she knew they would form a majority in the final jury. She threw Susan under the bus and voted her out because she got paranoid, fearing unjustly because of a joke Susan made that she and Rich would conspire against her. Kelly was a rat, and in the end, the snake won out.
she was always earnest about her friendship with Kelly: Maybe. However, Sue also stuck to her alliance with Rich and admitted that she's willing to play the game as necessary to win, so Kelly never knew if she was really in for a off screen friendship or if she was just being used as a pawn by Sue.
Sue to Kelly: "You will not get my vote. My vote will go to Richard. And i hope that is the one vote that makes you lose the money." Richard: **wins survivor** Years later Richard: **has tax evasion case**
In the reunion episode, it seems as if Kelly forgave Sue, even though Sue showed no contrition. Sue, who lied repeatedly throughout the entire game about their alliance, calls Kelly a rat and crucifies her on national TV for actions that Sue herself committed. She says she would literally let Kelly die of thirst while getting pecked by vultures. You kidding me? By far the most detestable person from that season, and if I were Kelly, I would have unleashed on her in the reunion. Her picture should appear in an encyclopedia next to the word *****.
Nah, unleashing at the reuinion would have made Kelly look pathetic, petty and nasty in comparison to Sue. Kelly did right, it's just sad she didn't win. she deserved it more than Rich.
I liked Sue in the beginning but I can’t help but laugh how she wants to talk about ppl being two faced. Like Sue the only difference was you were quietly two faced stfu. And she was so ruthless with how she got rid of ppl and was only mad when that same playing got turned towards her.
I never liked Sue, there was just something about her that made me want her to get voted off the first episode. And then this speech showed me how delusional she was.
Basically she's mad that someone back stabbed her even though that's how the game works and it should be that way. Lies, alliances, manipulating, that's all part of it, that's how the hell this is..
Say what u want about her, but that speech is bad ass! That's true, raw emotion at it's best. Ppl call her bitter, but when u've been done wrong, those feelings emerge. This speech is classic!

Speech was kinda epic tho
@@prokinnetforce88191 yeah they both the same
Anyone who can't appreciate this speech for what it is is a loser in life. It's why they fail all the time.
MessengerOfDreams define a loss in life, please
hmm . . . interesting
+MessengerOfDreams That speech was actually pretty terrible. Okay meaning, very bad execution.
🤣🤣
I remember watching this years ago as it happened and I thought Sue was a bitter woman and I still think that.
Still think that?
I loveddd this speech so much omg
gervase voted for kelly just because of sues disrespectful speech
so did colleen
Well, he was talking about how well she played the game earlier, and I don’t think his vote ever changed, he just was more encouraged by Sue’s speech. And wow that comment is 10 years old holy cow
@@maddiegeyer1785 i don't give two shits if it is 11 years old.
The background music for early survivor seasons was so much more eerie then now
Welcome!! I see MatPat of Film Theory brought you here, as well. Sit back and enjoy all of Sue's beautiful shade...
+LeoP2008 same
LeoP2008 yas
LeoP2008 you read my mind
LeoP2008 Actually, I'm trying to find out which video from MatPat did everyone find this from, I found this video because I like Survivor.
Actually I just like the show
This is the speech that I will always remember! She set the tone for frank speeches that eviscerated the final two or three contestants.
Colleen was enjoying Sue attacking Rich and then was (understandably) shocked when Sue really went at Kelly.
I remember this and I was 9 or 10, I'm 21 now. I'm so happy I got to see this again.
Danielle Domenique and now you’re 28
Aaron Turner time flies
now you’re in your 30’s
I love how this is just turning into ppl updating someone on their own age (don’t mean any hate, just think it’s funny)
Now I’m 31 with a kid.
There was no melodrama is Sue's speech. She spoke the complete truth 100%.
Slay. Play this at my funeral.
This is the best speech in survivor history, possibly all of history
I can't believe this was 20 years ago. Happy 20th anniversary Survivor!
This is iconic
i think context makes this speech even better, tbh. there was some amazing reddit post on her and her relationships with rich and kelly i read a while back (i should find that actually) and she's really just so so human, and it's what makes her so good here. she's so spiteful to rich and kelly, yet ultimately she's just mad at herself the most because she was the one that messed up, which is beautifully tragic i guess.
THAT'S pretty bitter lol
Never heard that from a jurior before. Also the speech was annoying, she was the BIGGEST bitch on the show, yet feels she can judge people for how they played the game when she played it the same. She's a hypocrit and idiot. Fuck. Sue.
Hey If you happen to find the Reddit post you mentioned, could you please share it on here? Thank you!
@@dustin0579 she's delusional bra.... Like wtf😂😂😂
still the biggest moment in survivor history... most iconic moment ever... i still have chills watching this... NOTHING COMES CLOSE TO THIS as far as a jury speech goes.. if you dont understand that you cant comprehend how important this is to survivor history
1:44 she says "mm interesting" thinking Sue was over, but the best part happens just after that
Having just finished the first season, I actually really disagree with everyone saying that Susan was unjustified here and just being bitter.
Kelly was a rat, and in the end, the snake won out.
she was always earnest about her friendship with Kelly:
Maybe.
And i hope that is the one vote that makes you lose the money."
Richard: **wins survivor**
Years later
Richard: **has tax evasion case**
Also years later: Rich sxually abses Sue.
“Hm. Interesting.” BRO
Kelly did right, it's just sad she didn't win. she deserved it more than Rich.
one word-
ICONIC
It's 2023 and i still come back to this to laugh. God bless Sue lmao
And it would come to bite her on survivor all stars when Richard Hatch( her ally) rubbed his meat against her which she quickly quit in anger
Sue also remembered the challenge where the river all-star got neatly beaten by the hydrophobe. It was one for the ages.
Basically she's mad that someone back stabbed her even though that's how the game works and it should be that way.
Lies, alliances, manipulating, that's all part of it, that's how the hell this is..
It wasn't back in Borneo, the game evolved that way
Im guessing youre not old enough to remember the first season.
Say what u want about her, but that speech is bad ass! That's true, raw emotion at it's best. Ppl call her bitter, but when u've been done wrong, those feelings emerge. This speech is classic!
How was she done wrong
@@rachelwalsh6116 voted out in a game where people get voted out I guess
The only thing that would’ve made this season perfect is on Susan’s final jury vote, she wrote a snake about to bite a rat

Can't believe this was a speech from the infancy of Survivor, every season is really just special. This was the defining moment of the greatest show in the world. Man I love this game.
The greatest moment in the history of Survivor. This is not debatable.
Such a warm, classy speech. Very touching....
I think this speech is part of the reason why survivor has lasted as long as it has
We'll never get another moment like this.
@@NJGuy1973 nope especially with the new final tribal council format
God damn, what a season that was. Chock full of moments like this. Totally intense.
got to love Sue's mid-western accent, it's like nails on a chalk board.
Kelly Wigglesworth (the rat, lol) will return in September 2015 in Season 31!!! We all know she had to get rid of Rudy in the final vote, because if Rudy was up there instead of Rich, Kelly would not have got one single vote!
bigfoot060775 its not in sept. since there just now filming the show and still have to edit the show.
She likely still would have gotten Jenna’s
