For anyone that doenst know Toronto.. this isnt the worst hood in Toronto. This is Regent Park which used to be really bad but got gentrified. Toronto has a lot of housing projects thru out the city. Like the lawrence heights projects, Projects in Jane and finch, Jamestown projects to name a few. But they are located between middle class/rich neighbourhoods.

Regent and Moss Park was hella cracked out back in the day. Basehead hookers all over the place too (Hooker Harvey’s..lol) I used to hit up crazy loft parties down there back in the 90’s. Went to school with a lot of Regent kids and they put in that work..nuff said. The yuppies snatched up a lot of those Victorian Houses and formed really aggressive neighborhood coalitions, teaming up with the cops and put pressure on the city to not allow anymore crack house SRO’s and push the hookers outta there. Gentrification happened fast especially when half of Regent was demolished.

Interesting tour. Most of that city looks fine, however I note the Canadians are saying these areas are gentrified now and the real hoods are elsewhere.

This is correct. Most projects in DT Toronto have been torn down or in the process of it. They've been or being replaced by quite nice government assisted housing. To be honest, better then the conditions I'm living in. Also, because DT Toronto is so expensive, it doesn't get to bad because some of the remaining hoods (such as Moss Park Projects) are pretty isolated as opposed to having another project a few blocks away.
The suburbs are where most of bad projects are, but there are plans to tear those down and replace them with nice housing too.

Was hoping to see my old neighbourhood (Mount Dennis) - although I don't know how it has changed since I lived there (it wasn't great at the time though good people). If you're doing Canadian cities, Ottawa's got Vanier, Caldwell, Russell road, parts of the downtown east end etc. plus a few neighbourhoods in Gatineau that would be worth showing IMO - the contrast between the sleepy touristy government town capital and the poverty in parts of the city always strikes me.

Good job! Commenting a third time: 2:25 Queen and Sherbourne is a rough corner, lots of addicts and some violence, usually kept between them. 3:19 is Moss Park public housing but across from it, the streets are multi-million dollar 19th century homes. That part of Toronto has a lot of contrasts right beside each other. Walk a block away from junkies and you've got wealthy people watering their gardens. Jane and Finch, parts of Scarborough, Keele and Lawrence are the kind of places where the issues really happen. But even then, you'd likely have to wait days to see anything scary.

Love your videos. I'm late to this video but well done as always.
As a 6th generation Torontonian, I can say our biggest problem is weak politicians and lax justice. Our crime rate is low compared to similar-sized US cities like Chicago, but we have a lot of enabled addicts who came to Toronto during Covid and are all over the downtown near the legal shooting gallery at Dundas and Victoria Sts. Also, the city rented some downtown hotels for three years for the homeless. And, they are begging all over and some are violent. As I type this, we have had a murder and multiple stabbings on transit. Plus, a lunatic just this week shoved an 89-year old woman on Yonge St, who fell and hit her head. Dead.

..bottom line, there are very dangerous hoods all over the world 🗺..as a recovering addict, it’s something you realize early on…it’s the poverty and hopelessness and easy access to drugs and lethal weapons that have brought many hoods to the brink of no return and some into a kinda zombie land, Kensington in Philadelphia, US is a good example, but it could be anywhere..

Most of the boarded buildings are gone and condos are now there…Regent Park has changed a lot. Sherbourne Street, Dundas to Queen Street, is sh*tty but I wouldn’t say they’re that dangerous. Try Jane and Finch or parts of Scarborough.

As I watched the video, I was surprised by the lack of trash and litter, how well kept the houses and lawns were...
I did see the graffiti and the abandoned building in a commercial area... Even there, there was no trash or litter... The high rise apartment buildings were well kept as well...
Charlie titled the video as "Toronto's most dangerous neighborhoods"...
Maybe some of the streets that Charlie didn't drive down are worse... And the danger comes at night...

You’re right tho. Toronto hoods are super insidious. I stayed up in Toronto for a while in the mid 90’s to about 06 then moved back down to New York. (Upper Manhattan) Toronto crews will set one up and catch you slipping in a blink of an eye. I doubt an outsider could flex around Shoreham or The Connections. Look up what happened at the Danzig Blocko. I never ducked from bullets in NY, but I did while living in Toronto. It’s wild because you don’t see it coming…you’ll feel the friction in the air and then out come the hammers.
