True crime lovers don’t love “crime” we love the psychology, detective work and evidence based information. Long story short we love a bit of puzzle and problem solving and learning what goes on in people’s heads.

Definitely, it also helps to learn about red flag behaviors so we can be more perceptive of the people around us. It's not about glorifying disgusting things that people do or idolizing them for doing it. Normal people don't put pics of Bundy or Dahmer on their wall.

I think a lot of people like myself are so invested in true crime cases because it’s real world education about the psychology of violence, lies, power struggles, etc. I personally think that watching true crime has helped my “gut instinct” detect unsafe people faster than it did before. Now, when I see someone being very manipulative, I can quickly make the leap that they could become abusive. And then, a few months later, the person I was suspicious of has a DV charge. For women especially, it’s important to stay educated and aware.
The lady in this case, though? Totally sick and twisted 🤢

When I feel like I’m not a stellar success story in our culture, a boring average person who has somehow failed to become rich or famous, a true crime story is just the thing to remind me what a lovely life my family and I have. It's amazing how easily true life can make average people feel better, nay "grateful" for that boring, average life. I'm like, "I'm alive, haven't been tortured, I'm not a criminal with a heavy conscience needing to look over my shoulder, anddddd, I can **usually** invite people into my ghetto, one bedroom apt without being ashamed, lol." So, life is GOOD!!

I was a victim of domestic violence for 10 years. 12 broken bones, 9 concussions, and too many rapes to count, including one that conceived my last child after I filed a restraining order. I was over sensitive to true crime shows. I couldn't watch them. Finally I found a program I could handle which lead me to others. These shows actually helped me with my PTSD. They showed victims who continued a good life, justice, and the pain the loved ones went thru from grieving their lost loved ones. Why that part? Bc I kept fighting and survived and didn't have to put my family thru that. These shows can be very helpful if taken in by those who are curious of the psychology of the perpetrator.

It helps hearing others stories to better understand it was them not you, and take away some of the guilt and shame of "putting up with it", being able to relate, not feel alone and to be thankful it could have had a worse outcome.
I only dealt with "mild" stuff as in threats of taking mine or his life, hair pull, push, non painful items thrown at such as food or liquid, taking away and destroying things & constant surveillance.
But stories help understand that it is abuse, even if he never hit me, and to see the warning signs and potential danger.
And luckily I didn't have a smart home, the technology abuse sucked enough.
So glad you survived 💪, that sounds absolutely horrifically terrifying! ❤

As a law enforcement family of 32 years and a former cadaver canine handler for our local S.O., I have always kept up with true crime stories. Most LE keep up with it to stay ahead of it and be alert to whats going on out there. When my daughter was born, i became hyper alert to it so i could be informed and stay even more alert for her sake and safety. These stories do indeed teach people what not to do and what to be aware of.

agree. I have a former friend continually in dv and part of it is kink related and yet she puts herself as the victim. at the point she pulled a knife on her dv partner that was it "she didn't know why' she did it. because you are escalating perhaps? you know if you keep chasing guys who hit you and you stay, that IS a choice. I know that's unpopular opinion but if you are happy to use your friends as debriefers and enablers to keep going back to bad choices, you need to take a step back and check yourself.

I just saw one of the True Crime UA-camrs I watch and actually really like, her birthday cake was True Crime themed and it was decorated to look like it was dripping in blood with crime scene tape and little metal knives, handcuffs and shards of glass all over it, i personally found it to be INCREDIBLY insensitive to all the victims and their families who she’s done videos about and fundraisers for. Like these are real people who’ve lost their lives, they’re murder victims, not your birthday party inspo. I believe she already had sociopathic tendencies and embraced them while submersing herself in true crime stories. Instead of seeing those stories through the lens of empathy for victims and how to discern behaviors in potentially bad people, she embraced her dark desires within herself already which is evidenced by her choices. I also believe this is a spiritual battle that ultimately ended in tragedy. There are definitely doors that people open to their souls by engaging in the Occult which bdsm is linked to.

To have the gull to laugh and act like nothing is wrong with killing him is deranged. Let alone trying to make an alibi for herself and than asking her friend if they are still friends??? I'd say " of course" in fear if I'd said no she would try to kill me too because I know what she did!

I grew up in Leigh park but my home was in the warren. I've since moved 2 hours away from the area and do not regret that after this case. I was still living there at the time Louise Smith had been murdered and had walked through the same woods on the day she had been murdered and the offender had walked past my house after the murder. Definitely too close to home. I'm so glad these victims got justice. It's crazy to see horrible things happening in Leigh park and now seeing them become known. Ive had an interest in true crime for ages and there's no excuse for this horrible crime. I did a degree in criminal psychology and now work for the probation service. My whole life revolves around crime and I'm nothing like this person.

I think you said it really well. There’s definitely a line between informing others and telling cases with the utmost respect for victims and families, and using true crime for entertainment. At the end of the day people need to remember that someone has died tragically. These are horrible, uncomfortable topics, but often need to be spoken about, especially for cases that have gone cold and have no attention. I definitely think a lot of creators and consumers of true crime could stand to remember that instead of treating it like a fun little hobby.

Personally and from interactions with fellow true crime fans (mostly women) we just want to be aware and have knowledge of such crimes because the victims in true crime are mostly women. Its great to know these things and what to watch out for should you god forbid end up in these situations. I have been stalked and close to being assaulted multiple times in my life and I am only in my 20s but learning about true crime has taught me to trust my gut and be aware of my surroundings. Also a lot of the times we learn about these cases and want justice for the families that is why I watch and listen to true crime. Good on you for that opening statement. It is really important to know. I know, for me, it's time to step away when cases start to make me actually cry, like sob. Then I take a break from it. Personally, I've had conflicting feelings about my interest in true crime. I don't want to be "entertained" as such, by the horrific things that have happened to real people. On the other hand, I think it can be a very useful tool for understanding people, behaviours, motives, the journeys and events in people's lives that lead them to those dark places, and an opportunity to pray for all the people affected by these criminals and their heinous acts. So I appreciate your opening statement, because even though true crime is like your bread and butter, you still gave really good points for people to think about that may cause them to stop watching your channel. Don't feel like you're letting down your favorite tc UA-camrs, you can always come back and watch when you're feeling like you're in the right place again! 😁 Mr ballen does this thing with his UA-cam videos and discord channel where he has a section for "top ten crazy stories/mysteries" and "places you can't go but people went anyway" and things like that, for people who need a true crime detox but still want to show support! I think that's such a brilliant idea and more UA-camrs need to implement that! ♥️

That’s so crazy like I can see how violent content can make us harder and desensitize us but I feel the opposite. I’ve become even more empathetic, more sensitive, more careful and just an all around better human of society after getting into true crime years ago. I can see how this type of thing could totally do the opposite for someone else though especially someone with mental health issues. I do have depression and anxiety myself so I can say it does make me sad listening to these stories sometimes.

You should look at the case if Logan Mwangi. It’s completely heartbreaking. Also in the UK. Worth learning about just to see the narcissism present in everyone involved. Also, pronounced Keltic. Spelled Celtic, hard K sound. Most Irish & Scottish names are K sounds, spelled with C. Like Cillian (killian). Lots more examples though.

I've been fascinated with true crime since I was 6 years old. Particularly because (Idk why.....having raised my own 5 kids) I was allowed to watch the first Ted Bundy movie called The Deliberate Stranger when I was 6 years old. Fast forward 1 year and a man tried to abduct me omw to school and I remembered Ted Bundy and ran like hell. I've been fascinated with the Psychology of criminal behavior ever since.
But some people are just not good people, unfortunately.

I think in order to be a cold-blooded murderer, it’s already in you. I get being desensitized by certain things, but if you see something insane in real life, a normal response would be fear, you’d be horrified, disgusted etc. I could be wrong, but it’s how I feel.

They not only have all the merchandise with the faces of various serial killers, they collect stuff that belonged to killers. They also have tattoos of killers adorning there bodies prominently.
