      ...13% of 50%? ... My assumption is that you are speaking of the subatomic structure of the majority of the known elements!
      i.e the atom , it's cloud of electrons and the nucleus - where science has led us to believe that the majority of the mass of each atom is made up of 99.94% attributed to the nucleus! That is of course apart from the Hydrogen - 1 atom, which has no nucleus, and not to mention the Hydron Ion which has no electron. God alone knows why!

      @@Johnsilver813 My dear friend, logic and science tells us to think rationally. Don't take just about anything at face value. You have to judge and look into the matter in order to get something out of it. If you have nothing in your hands, you got to start with something as meager as yourself. If you don't even believe in yourself, not one bit it's really unfortunate. But even in that scenario you have to consider that this world or this universe is not a small room. So the chance of you being an absolute loner in some scenario would always tend to zero. And Nietzsche also acknowledged that surviving is finding the truth why you suffered right? You got to find and fight before you give up. If you be a pacifist ok, a nihilistic you're still in the game. But if you become an escapist it's most unfortunate.

      @@Johnsilver813 Man is a rational animal. We have brains to think. So why should we give up before meeting the end of line, before looking at the abyss? It's exactly what Richie said here. You can be an antheist and still have your ethics, morals, ideals, do-s and don'ts in your every day life. You have to keep looking at it, keep seeking the truth. You know Buddha was skeptical/ Agnostical to God's existence but he firmly believed in the afterlife. Existence is not a lie. If you do good things only because you’re afraid of going to hell, then you’re a shitty person. Do you only love your parents because a book told you you’re going to hell if you do? Besides, by your logic, it wouldn’t make sense to not believe in afterlife and do what you want, everyone should do what they want for 1/4 of their life and spend the rest asking for forgiveness anyway.

I don't need answers like "just get it", you know there are people who just don't have what you mentioned.
      So your position is just based on living in developed rich coutry today, wich is not in war condition, while not being born poor - is that all what you base your thinking? What makes that guy thinks that there ever going to be last meal, what if he's wrong?
      That is the quesiton he didn't adressed nor did he answered it. So why he talks like he is 100% on truth side, what makes him thnk that? His bias? Or he is just in comfort zone, same as you? Face it - atheism doesn't answer questions, no matter if i am as christian right or wrong, it doesn't. It does "no you" thing and blindly follows it's own narrative, not proving it's point.
      You know why atheism doesn't bother to give answers and give points? Becuase it cannot. So then what is the basis for accepting it if there is none? Faith? That's why i'm not an atheistm and any smart person should too, christian or not, it's stupid, heavilly biased/pre-just and self-righteous.
      I know, that's why i ain't one anymore. No any sort of crysis after that, or i can have possibility that i'll go to Heaven (if i truly follow it and help other to as well), or: 1. blank nothingness, no reason, no furute, 2. hell. Chose well, mate.

      But when your arguing with believe you have to remember the point of views are different for example your right the scene is said well but for a Christian like me that does not bother me because there is an afterlife and according to the Bible it’s is a new earth and the things we love will be there are long as they are good and not evil things so the scene would not apply to believers because we don’t only live once according to God and atheist will continue seeing things just not in a good position there but with believers is that there is life after death it’s actually sad to hear atheist speak that way from our point of view we don’t want them to have to be in a position where for them that is the only life they get to enjoy when there is more of course even that has to different point of views there are atheist who hate life and don’t believe in God simply cause they suffered which is understandable but they missed the point on what God states cause they want God to be there way of thinking and therefore life is horrible and they prefer being dead to end there suffering so even among atheist they fight each other’s way of thinking

I also can't prove there are no unicorns, but believing in them just because I can't prove they don't exist is silly, just like believing in an afterlife. Here's another "educated guess" - before we're born our souls exist as angels that swim around inside the sun. Since you can't prove that's not true, it must be true. See what I mean?

Or, at some point in your old age your heart stops beating because reasons (Scars are at fault most of the time).
      Yeah there are an infinite amount of things that can happen after our brain decides to turn off, and if you just stick with "That's it for everyone" it's unlikely to be true when stacked against (Potential) infinity.

    About two years back after I got off of work one night, I went to fill up my gas tank at an arco down the street from my house.
    As I was filling up my car, a young blonde lady probably in her early thirties asked if I had some spare change to help get her out of town. I looked over at her truck and saw it was filled with random things she probably took out of her house as if she was moving out. I told her after I finished filling my car up I’d fill her truck up no problem. She said thank you and we got to talking about her life and this guy she was with and how he mistreated her and she was trying to get away from him and this and that and we ended up having a real heart-to-heart conversation about life and such. She asked me if I was religious and I told her that I wasn’t and she asked if I believed in heaven and hell and all of that and I told her I didn’t. I told her that without the idea of heaven or hell being real places we go when we die, it’s really helped motivate me to be a better person for the people around me and the people I hold close and dear to my heart. It’s really changed my outlook on life and made me realize there are no redos and we don’t get any other chances - this is all there is so we need to make the most out of it. That’s why I don’t ever take anything to granted anymore and I really try and make every day count and let the people in my life know that I love them very much because any time I see them could be my last.
    She said I was really kind and she appreciated what I did for her. She asked for my phone number and I had given it to her and that was that. She drove off and I never talked to or saw her again.
    It was a really humbling experience.

Either way he would be reprimanded for any of those acts since there is a basic set of morals that is accepted within the majority of societies. Really, it comes down to the fact that we follow what we were taught as children and now take it as fact, but someone could have easily been told something else at a young age causing a difference in morals. But now, i think religions are getting out of hands with their strict rules. Sure some religion are flexible and can change its rules as time goes by, but some of them.... My eyes observed that the only target now is money and power that will keep a religion going. Ppl sell their beliefs and benefit them as if they own them. It was supposed to straighten humanity, but now it is used to straighten their cashflow. Thats what i don't like about it.

    A lot of people miss the point of this common topic. The point is that morals have a subconscious religious motivation even for so called "atheists". They just dont understand it. She was right that logically there is no reason not to harm others for your own well being if you won't get caught(it happens all the time btw) but most people don't do it because they have conscience like he said. BUT they never stop and think what that actually is. Conscience is the deep rooted fear that if you do something bad, that you will be judged for it by SOMETHING. That thought is ingrained in our minds because thats how we think it SHOULD BE. If we are not judged what is the point of anything? You could say "yeah I am judging myself" but it doesnt explain why you feel bad about it or why you feel like you SHOULD feel bad about it. He kinda indirectly points to the fact that life derives its meaning from you trying to live it in the best way possible and you imposing certain rules on yourself. If you disregard them it feels almost like you would lose your meaning of life. Judgement gives our life meaning. Breaking your morals that for basically equals to losing your life. This is a lot closer to bible teachings than he realizes. Morals(the word of god) in the example of the bible are personified by Jesus. Doing that is basically the definition of believing in Jesus (thats something a lot of christians don't get either). If you reject them you lose your (eternal) life. This theme of "rightousness = life" and "sin = death" goes back even to the old testament were the afterlife wasnt explicitly refered to but only hinted at. Even if you think its all rubbish you could at least acknowledge the philosophy behind it.

    Atheist, or spiritual person, I think we can all benefit from viewing the “meaning of life” as LIFE itself rather than some ulterior purpose that has no substance of itself. If you are on the side of LIFE as an atheist I have no qualms against you. It’s the nihilists, those who deny life of its meaning in any form, that I can’t quite understand. Even then we are each on our own journey through this endless journey of LIFE and if being nihilist or an atheist is the game you want to play then go and live it, and learn the lessons that THIS life has to teach you.

    • @golubvolodemerovich7512
      @golubvolodemerovich7512 5 років тому +4

      Learn the lessons? For what? There's no exams later. Once you learn something everything else has changed, the same things never repeat themselves. And if they do repeat, it's like going through a triller film with all the spoilers in your head, and the movie starts to suck. It's always a choice between suffering or boredom, while perpetually chasing delusions for the sake of a memory, of momentary happiness. Okay, I don't know much of what I'm saying, but I think life is too absurd to learn anything we can try, 'cause why not what other options do we have... But inherently there's no lessons or purpose or meaning at all to any of it. In defense of nihilism, on the grounds of where everything rests.

    • @Mcgif21
      @Mcgif21 5 років тому +2

      If that’s what you want to believe...Nihilism can give solace for a time to those who either choose to not think about the deeper meaning of things or even those who have just given up the search, but in time such a philosophy only degrades the soul, trades our individual destiny for momentary pleasure and petty mundanity. LIFE is dual in its manifestation, you wouldn’t have the perception of “ nothing” if it wasn’t for the SOMETHING all around you. And even in theses intervals of “empty” space there is still SOMETHING. What that is only YOU can know and discover for yourself.

      Interesting conversation. As an agnostic, I have always looked upon nihilism as a transitory state towards finding your own way to make life meaningful. Or all these reflections are just another stage in my midlife crisis, lol

    • @patrickmcardle952
      @patrickmcardle952 4 роки тому +3

      The logical conclusion of atheism is abject nihilism though. Every single argument in favour of atheism at the present moment leads one into being forced to conclude that we live in a world that exists to no significance and which is ultimately going to end in the heat death of the universe which will condemn every facet of reality as we know it to fade into an eternity of nonexistence from which it will never re-emerge. It puts a question mark on the entire landscape of human civilisation and accomplishment as it strips us of any value as well as anything we do in life as everything we cherish and wish to preserve is all ultimately doomed to destruction at the end. I honestly think that atheists like gervais realise this and so have to construct scenes like this to try to present a perspective that shows atheism in a positive light, which in light of what following atheistic arguments down to the ground leaves you with comes off as a weak attempt to resist the undeniably depressing and borderline unliveable mindset that being an atheist leaves you with. If you’re courageous enough to try to fully embrace nihilism and not live as a living contradiction as gervais does when he says he disbelieves in free will but lives as though it exists due to not being able to face up to living as if he doesn’t
