#1 message in this video is - KEEP IT POSITIVE! Encourage everyone you can, no matter their ability. I'm so stoked on someone learning, whether a total beginner or just learning a new trick.
This is great engagement bait. If this was meant to be a serious video I think it would've been a lot easier of a pill to swallow if you'd framed it as "10 things I personally wish would change" Elicits curiosity ("hmm, is there something wrong with snowboarding I should be aware of?") without projecting your opinions onto the entirety of the community. I do happen to agree with some of these, to an extent. But there are others that I think are perfectly fine and even contribute to keeping this sport quirky and fun.
That what being a human is all about, I hope people don’t 100% agree with me. It was just a video on trends in snowboarding. Specifically the ones I don’t like. Listen to my outro again. I ask people to tell me if they agree or not. That’s how good conversations start 🤙🏼
I have 2 daisy chained jbl clips attached to me. I turned it down when in line and on the lift. But I always thought it was better for special awareness safety. You can hear me coming and hopefully avoid making sharp turns into me while I’m cruising/ trying to pass. I always knew I’d be annoying to some, but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make.
Awesome video as usual... I need new boots, but just scored some Cartel X bindings for my old deck from the 90s.... now to find the right boots... i dont fit my Morrow e3 step ins any more, but my son does, so that's a bonus... Cheers
Idk if it’s gate keeping but you promote whack shit like Klew bindings just cuz they pay you. If Burton paid you more you’d rock their bindings. Can’t take you serious when your opinion is being bought. Notice companies with actual good gear don’t ask you to promote them cuz they don’t need it. (Capita, Burton, 686, Oakley, etc) and if they did sponsor someone it would be an actual pro snowboarder not someone saying they are one but nobody else is saying it.
@@JohnathanBuckhouse Johny boy, all in good fun but, you were gatekeeping, by shaming, onesies and turtle butts, and gear obsessors etc etc. Hope to run into you on the field this season my guy.

Wear what you want, all of that I have no issue with, but backpack speaker kids are the worst lol. Granted I think I’ve only seen one in my life, you’re just forcing people to hear your garbage music taste. Use headphones dawg?
1: when the first snowboard was forged in the great fire, an amber vial of the most potent heckling known to man fell into the crucible. 2: speaker guy is having fun and that's what it's about. 3: when the onesies get out of hand, it's time to go off pissed.
Spot on, We had some drunk guys yelling Brown Bear at us from the lift, probably trying to make us distracted and fall. No bear anywhere. Don't be that guy.
The stealing gear is bs last year a kid was running around looking for his board balling cause he got his board stolen and after about 20 min I felt so bad I went and put my old bindings on my spare board and just gave it to kid people today can be horrible but you can always do something to brighten up someone’s day
if people are camping in the middle of a blue/black theyre getting sprayed (go to the edge to chill) and if theyre having a tough time they shouldnt be on those runs at all lol im not messing with ppl on greens though, thats different.
Backpack guy with good tunes makes icy days way better-like 10x. it’s rare, and music taste is def subjective, but I’d take backpack guy any day over someone with AirPods in swerving into the way of kids learning
gotta love the people who are having fun, I dont mind speakers, getting sprayed, or any of it, could be because i dont see many folks on the skin tracks. Now dont get me started on granola trends.
Ok,on the funny side. When I first started, I was sweating so bad that a snow spray would have been great. I agree though!!! Just spray the ones in your crew!!! 😂
just started learning !! i need all the hype i can get that's what makes you wanna go all in !! you have to hype some people up ! not so much they catch that edge though. lol
I actually love the turtles, one of my first days snowboarding a girl and her friend showed up and put rainbow turtles on their knees, we had a good laugh. I think that they are definitely a style choice, not everyone wants to use them. I personally use kneepads, but I think the turtles are super cute.
I agree the backpack music guy is very frustrating when you are enjoying a lap in park and he comes through with his music you just don't wont to hear When you trying to learn a new trick or are in the flow having fun.
Yep slapping on the snowboard talk for 3 months of the year is dumb. But if it is a North Coast Hawaiian Surfer crossing over to snowboarding and it's authentic, and that's his/her true personality, I'm gonna be their best friend on the hill. That would be way too much fun to be around and watch. Authenticity is key.

@@jordanc918 No hes giving his opinion on what he thinks is annoying do you find it annoying if someone in a supermarket goes up and sprays water on you? Yea probably so someone shouldnt spray snow on you shouldnt steal others shit shouldnt do this in his opinion if you dont like it disagree but dont hate on the person for having opinions
"Don't gate keep"
Proceeds to gatekeep snowboarding by telling people he thinks these things are lame. (And multiple cut into his bottom line.)
gatekeeping is an absolute necessity to preserve integrity of any institution. if it's too hot, get out of the kitchen
Completely agree. Hes tearing people down, just because its not directed at someone doesnt mean its not rude. Johnathon, still time to delete this video.
I don’t see your point at all 😂 having an opinion on trends is not gate keeping.
Who am I tearing down? I am talking about trends. Saying the trend of wearing pajamas on the mountain is getting old is not gatekeepering. It’s a trend that has blown up over the last two years and will probably die soon. 🤷🏼♂️ I don’t see the point of deleting a video because people disagree also lol
This mindset is always funny to me 😂
MFM had a whole video part of spraying random skiiers
I was waiting for you to say “The Drunk dude on the Mountain who’s hella loose but just shreds”!!! Gotta Love that Cali lingo! I’ll be YYYYYEEEEEEWWWWWW ALL DAY!!!Love to hear it!!!! ❤ you for you though Buckhouse!!
Thanks bro! I was trying to avoid some smoke by not pointing out the drinking and riding but that also is not a trend I feel like that has been a lifestyle of snowboarding from the beginning. Not mine but trends come and go and that one is staying.
Once and only once have I ran into someone playing music that was actually universally acceptable while in public since I can most certainly get down to Hans Zimmer while heading up a beautiful mountain ⛰️
I love it 😂
Hanz Zimmer is the GOAT
Where can I buy your evolution stickers being in Canada? Etsy doesnt ship to Canada...
Keep your fashion trends to yourself man, saying people shouldn't wear this takes peoples self confidence away. Not to mention the amount of people you have under influence.
How are you a pro snowboarder?
Well I get paid to snowboard 🏂
@@JohnathanBuckhouse Yeah but you get paid to be a youtuber that snowboards not a pro snowboarder
@@burtonbrd31 He literally does everything a pro does and more. Why would he compete and potentially hurt himself and take away from his time making YT to make money? You do realize in snow sports being a pro can be as simple as having a sponsorship right? Its not like other sports.
I love this comment… do us a favor and look up the word profession. It’s what you do for a living no where in the definition does it say your good at it… he’s paid by snowboard companies to snowboard so by definition he is literally a pro snowboarder… thanks for commenting so we can buy more steel for the backyard. Johnny b can I build you another rail yet or do we need to see this comment 50 more times before we can buy the steel?
@@burtonbrd31 did you know he got a check from Burton, clew, vertica, kuhno, summerboard, fireball and insta 360 to uhh snowboard and represent the brands. Literally by definition he’s a pro snowboarder….
I personally appreciate you commenting so I can keep building backyard rails for him. UA-cam pays for engagement, like him or not so thanks dog the backyard will be lit thanks to people like you!
wtf dude you talk about gatekeeping then roast on onesies? People can wear onesies if they want
-Spraying beginners total dick move.
-Tarring someone down is getting worse 100% (like most of the people in the comments.) lol
Having said that I saw a guy at sunshine village last year in a grizzly onesie do a double back flip on a table top. It was insane!! The guy could have been dressed like Justin Trudeau and he’d still have been cooler than most of us!
My point is dress how you want.
That stash is a trend that should go back the to 80's where it came from 😬
Ofc don't be disrespectful but that goes both way man, if somebody is feeling goofy with the homies and rocking a onesie or a turtle butt, just let them have their fun?
Yeeessss!! This sport is all about having fun and expressing yourself!
5:41 where do i get a sling like that??
You’re not wrong about the bad trends but you are hypocritical to say don’t do it but in the same video say let the people be themselves and have fun. Who care what they wear. Or how they talk? Just sayin
Situation on spraying: a group of boarders stopped and sat in the middle of the run. Another boarder had to brake/stop immediately, otherwise he would've crashed into them. The result, he sprayed the living jesus out of them.
Enjoyed the video. Thanks for taking time to post.
Yoooooooooo this gatekeeping thing is real. Messing up the good vibes.
Right!!
Johnathan: Stop gate keeping and talking other people down.
Also Johnathan: don't wear goofy clothes cause i don't like it! Don't talk in goofy ways cause I don't like it!
😅 let people wear/speak how they like!
Funny vid though. Two thumbs up. Gnarly brah!
Yo dude I just watched one of your videos where you learned the snowboard making process. That was super sick and this video is also super sick! Glad I found your channel!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🏂🏂🌊
Getting heckled by someone on the lift after rolling/sliding 30 ft down the mountain is funny as hell.
Trust me, it's happened to me.
Glad you didnt say anything about rocking basketball jerseys over your jacket. I still do that. Still rock bright colored pants too.
Disagree with the onesie and turtle butts, it just seams like you dislike them as they are not "fashionable"
re 1: if I see some crazy jerry s*hit, i'm calling it out from the chair lol
😂
Hey! Loved the video- ima skier but totally related to a bunch of your examples ! Thank you! 😊
Johnathan I love the content. Going from gatekeeping to saying onesies need is stop is a choice tho. Dressing up to be stoked on the hill is cool imho. 🤙
Heck yeah brother 🤙🏼
This entire video just shows what a good dude you are. Let’s go jb
After disagree on a lot of this video part of snowboarding is the expression of yourself and it seems like you want everyone to be a cookie cutter onesies and all that wacky shit are fun
Hey I’ve recently discovered your channel and my desire to wanna learn snowboarding booking a trip to Banff in march and keep getting mix responses is ski season still good in march in Alberta ?
Oh yeah and way way beyond.
Did you cover the Andrenaline junky’s speeding down the mountain like they’re trying to beat a record not being cautious of kids/ newbies
I enjoy both Riding and Skiing.I dislike Boarders booting in at choke points after dismountiing the chairlift. The Slope is a shared experience.Cheers,Walker
sharing your opinion on UA-cam should be totally acceptable I'm seeing everyone saying he's gatekeeping, it does not matter, if he's being a quote "hypocrite" in your eyes that's that's your opinion too, i feel like everyone should just agree or disagree instead of saying "he's gatekeeping" and if you can't stand not saying anything, just be respectful, its not that hard to put a little extra work in to be respectful, it always has a better outcome in the end as well. as far as this goes, in the end just be respectful, agree, disagree, whatever. (I know i sound like a glazer but i just hate all the mean comments and crap like that. I hope everyone reading this has a good day.
I love your point 🤙🏼 I also said at the end of you disagree let me know 😂 didn’t know I was going to hurt people with this video lol
@@JohnathanBuckhouse yeah I’m sorry
I feel like this dude voted for kamala. The mtn is a place for all to have fun and be happy. Everyone love everyone and do you! Dont let nerds with mustaches control your day. Send it.
#1 message in this video is - KEEP IT POSITIVE! Encourage everyone you can, no matter their ability. I'm so stoked on someone learning, whether a total beginner or just learning a new trick.
100% man!!!
Is that James Corden in the yellow at 0:37? tell me that doesn't look like James Corden, I'm not crazy right?
Great advice from someone that is trying convince people to buy clew bindings
This is great engagement bait.
If this was meant to be a serious video I think it would've been a lot easier of a pill to swallow if you'd framed it as "10 things I personally wish would change"
Elicits curiosity ("hmm, is there something wrong with snowboarding I should be aware of?") without projecting your opinions onto the entirety of the community.
I've been snowboarding since 1990, and yes we say shredded the gnar often just cause it's so ridiculous to say.
😂
Awesome video as usual...
I need new boots, but just scored some Cartel X bindings for my old deck from the 90s.... now to find the right boots... i dont fit my Morrow e3 step ins any more, but my son does, so that's a bonus...
Cheers
You can't take the bro out of the man bro
Yeah bro man
this whole video is pure “old man yells at cloud” vibes 😂
The first two aren't 'trends'. They are just things we do to Buckhouse.😘
Idk man, snow bro talk always brings positive vibes
>stop gate keeping gear
>proceeds to gatekeep gear
Oh bud. Summer time rot is in full swing huh
How did I gatekeep 😂 please explain?
Nah man. Most of these you’re coming off as pretentious and judgy.
“This is lame, that’s lame”
We’re out here having fun wearing monkey suits, shredding the pow, jammin tunes all with turtle butts and having a blast.
🤔🤔🤔
Wear what you want, all of that I have no issue with, but backpack speaker kids are the worst lol. Granted I think I’ve only seen one in my life, you’re just forcing people to hear your garbage music taste. Use headphones dawg?
Onezies are cool, let self expression be
1: when the first snowboard was forged in the great fire, an amber vial of the most potent heckling known to man fell into the crucible.
2: speaker guy is having fun and that's what it's about.
3: when the onesies get out of hand, it's time to go off pissed.
What if speaker guy is the only one having fun?
@@monkey5818 impossible. the thought of all the snot and tears makes me giggle a little.
@@ipswho Bro😭😭😭
🤣😂
You’re on it 💯, bro!!!!
Backpack guy with good tunes makes icy days way better-like 10x. it’s rare, and music taste is def subjective, but I’d take backpack guy any day over someone with AirPods in swerving into the way of kids learning
Chairlift heckling isn't a trend it's a tradition
LOL
It's fine if it's your buddy but don't heckle strangers.
gotta love the people who are having fun, I dont mind speakers, getting sprayed, or any of it, could be because i dont see many folks on the skin tracks. Now dont get me started on granola trends.
1:00 this one is so real. The amount of times I get sprayed by some random annoying teenagers that are just a few years older than me is crazy.
I like that evolution merch is listed as a chapter in this video lol
Ok,on the funny side. When I first started, I was sweating so bad that a snow spray would have been great. I agree though!!! Just spray the ones in your crew!!! 😂
💯
Going on ski(snowboard) vacation for the first time in Austria in January. Gotta look out for these ones😂
😂🤣😂
just started learning !! i need all the hype i can get that's what makes you wanna go all in !! you have to hype some people up ! not so much they catch that edge though.
I’d say one of the absolute worst trends would be to tell yourself and others you’re pro. I hate that
Well keep hating it because it’s never going away as I keep stacking sponsorships 😏
How do you go from saying “snowboarding is for everyone” to crapping on people for what they wear to have fun? Not cool bro.
onesies are fine.. as long as its designed for skiing and riding ... love what airblaster has going on !
Year the airblaster ones are sick!
