Happy Painting!
Lovely job, it’s difficult to see your pencil work, but enjoyed the painting very much.
Absolutely beautiful! You make it look easy, but I know it is not, but, I’ll give it a try, thanks for the tutorial🤗
I really enjoyed to paint in your style and I learned to paint that tricky leaves. Thanks so much for this tutorial!
Thanks for joining in!
Absolutely incredible! Thank you so very much.
You posted this a year ago. Your work is magical. I just discovered you today on instagram and the timing couldn't be better. Sometimes when you want to do something really REALLY badly and do it perfectly it is hard to start. I loved seeing your process, problem solving and your minor adjustments as you bravely did this piece in the public eye. I would like permission to use your work for my own studies and practice and post on Instagram, with clear credit to you as the original designer, so that I may better learn and understand your style and how to create chinoiserie. I prefer the feminine delicate yet masterful detail of your work it is superior in my mind and far more elgant than William Morris who had a similar but heavier style in the Victorian era. Thank you for your thoughtful post and taking the time to share your mastery with the world. I only wish I had discovered you sooner
OhOHOh
Such a delight!
Searching the web to buy is just in no way budget friendly. Picked up 8 double rolls of a yellow nubby wallpaper some time ago ($2.99/ea) treasure hunting! I’ve hung 1 panel using only double sided tape then simply dry brushed a very thin single white coat for try on. Chinoiserie is a fairly recent lean to which I’m mad about! So finding You Here is entirely onlyONLYonly-just!! Eeeeeeeee
I’m not sure my textural wallpaper will accept the lead but believe me it’s most assuredly onONon! What’s to lose really?! Exciting times
Thank You!!
🌼🐝💨
Love your art
Amazing! Cant wait to start this!
Luz Marina Diaz Thank you!! Have fun!
Wow thank u for this I am going to practice it looks do calming and relaxing 😌 I already have those brushes been using them for awhile now they do great fur!! I noticed you taking off the pencil lines..... use the Grey kneaded rubber put it in a ball and roll over yyr sketch takes off all the carbon and makes it lighter . a tip another artist 🎨showed me
Brilliant tutorial, thank you!
Nina Rhoades so glad you liked it!
Hi Diane, I recently discovered you and I love your works! I would like to start and try this type of drawings but I would like to ask you for information if I am not too indiscreet: are the brushes you use specific for drawings in the chinoiserie style?
Thanks :-)
Thank you. I'm going to try this. I won't be in time to enter your competition. you are offering a fabulous prize!
Thank you!!
Lovely….thanks for sharing your knowledge. If I may ask where in China did you learn it from?
Will you do this contest again? I am really excited to begin a chinoiserie mural directly onto wallpaper
Lovely work
You should paint gorgeous wallpapers, really solid work!
Beautiful work and very useful tutorial. I was struck by the date the video was shot (March 2020) right when Covid-19 was really starting to spread and how you're sniffling and coughing makes me think you probably had a very early variant of it back then. Historically speaking, another interesting aspect of your video albeit totally unrelated to the lovely content you demostrate.
You are amazing! Love your work. Is there any way to increase the contrast in the video as I cant seem to see what you are drawing in pencil. Thank you!! X
Tina Khan I am so sorry the video compressed when uploaded to you tube so the first 20 minutes of drawing are illegible. The painting is on my Instagram and you can use that for the outline. Sorry next time I will know better! X
Hi there, love! What kind of paper are you using? Can you share an Amazon link for the US?
The silk paper is available here :) dianehill.co.uk/collections/art-materials/products/a3-silk-paper
I can't see what you are drawing!? Maybe a darker pencil?
Would love to know details about the chinese brushes you like?
There are SO MANY types of watercolor brushes & I can’t find any info about chinoiserie painting besides your tutorial…
Hey! You can find my brushes and other art materials here dianehill.co.uk/collections/art-materials
Can you tell me what are the type of fabrics or materials do you use? And the paints too.... give me a riply plz .... 🙋♀️recently i started to follow your paintings because i love your techniques and me too want to try myself drawing like yours.. 🥰
Yes, the types of paints used would be useful to know. But maybe I missed that part.
What paints do yo use for wallpaper please so want to try this
Acrylics :)
Thank you and would this be on a Matt Emultion finish please and do you do any tutorials or advice on this please
dorothy smith yes matt emulsion. Unfortunately not yet but my Instagram has lots of info @dianehilldesign :)
Diane Hill thank you last question would you advise painting straight onto the wall or paint the paper and then put it up ? Have you St found you on Instagram so going to look through it all
Many thanks . I have done black and gold chinoiserie furniture for years and now I’m retired
I want to try the walls x
@@dianehill4402 where do you get the silk? Exactly what are the specifics of the silk paper? I am having trouble finding this
Diane, please make more tutorials on the actual silk paper with the Chinese brushes. Pretty pleease! I’ve managed to locate some paper backed silk to practice on. Really want to learn but no one else is teaching this technique... If you made a course, I’d be the first in line to sign up!
where did you find the silk?
anniejmoran there’s a little shop in Chelsea (in London) called House Couturier. They used to sell them by the meter but now I think they’ve changed it to 3 meters minimum order. I’ve cut it into smaller panels to practice on. They’re expensive, about £95 per meter but there you go.
Elena Tamova thank you! Unfortunately I’m in the US but maybe this info will help a bit anyway
anniejmoran I see. I’m sure they could post it to you if you got in touch. Good luck! 😊
Please let me know where to get the paper backed silk in the US? What weight is the silk etc.?
Bamboo has been depicted in the chinoiserie painting style since the mid 17th century. Where do you come off as claiming it as "your signature", respectfully?
What she means is that she always using those specific elements in her art work. This is what it’s meant by having a signature style. Meaning in a group of artwork, people would recognise hers because she always uses the same elements. For example, a person can always add textures to their painting, that is their signature style, a person can always mix paint with some inking, they always create artwork with these things, that is a signature style. I hope you now understand it wasn’t a claim to inventing bamboo.
@ar8yedz lol - trust me - as an artist, I get all that lol!
I just find her demeanor, tone & language self-aggrandizing and arrogant, simply put. Not everyone will like you (her lol) or your videos - just comes with the territory ;)
Delicioso ver você trabalhar! Neste vídeo você está usando Guache ou Aquarela?
It's Chinese gouache, she said it.
You think that's Chinese painting do you?
I call it 'Chinoiserie style' painting. And as the chinoiserie tradition is inspired by Chinese art, it is often described as Chinese.
I am at 5:56 and I have yet to see anything because the camera is too far from the canvas. And I have barely heard anything, because you speak in a whisper and you apparently have the mic in the wrong place because even your whispers keep fading in and out.
Terrible video I know, I am sorry. It was a lockdown project and I filmed it badly :( I will make another in time!
