I germinate Giant Pumpkin seeds 5 different ways and show you the difference between a grow light and a window as well as how container size effects the plants.
Nice video showing the difference heat and warmth can do. Plus size of container. I’m looking to start mine soon. Just had 4” of snow last week and wasn’t able to get out to amend my soil, gotta love NE Wi But still have time! Good luck!
Good video I like to wrap them in a wet towel, but I like your idea starting them in Soil they might as well spend their energy cracking out of the soil, but I think I will start them in a bigger pot like a 2 gallon pot and put the heating mat under the 2 gallon pot no transplanting until we go to the garden
Do you think it was the pot size difference more so than the distance from from the grow light that caused the second largest to be stunted when compared to the largest? I’m playing with the distance from my light right now to try and find a sweet spot but time is running out before the real deal!
Mike I’ve struggled with leggy plants before. Once they germinate do you exclude them from all natural light totally? Also, how long do you keep your grow light on them during the day?
So hypothetically... if you needed to delay your planting due to bad weather or something you could slow down its growth by reducing its light/warmth and it would be healthy still?
I think I learned something valuable, that if I predig my planting hole the exact size of my putted pumpkin it will make transplanting easier. Thank you for the video!
Nice 🙂🙂🙂
Love the thorough experimentation and thanks for sharing 🤘🏼
In the oven! Interesting!! Best of luck this season Mike!!
Good to see you again man! Hoping for an awesome year 👍

That was cool! 🎃
What is your soil mix? Do you repot?
How many hours a day do you keep the grow light on?

My oven with the light on ends up being around ~120 degrees F, so definitely too hot
Thats a bit hot
So two gallon pots in the oven it is :)
Dang dude those cots are banging what seed?

Its all pot size, I don't think that distance played too much of factor.
Except for maybe the window plant on the pink pot, got real leggy, that was light.
how early do you start the process before planting in the ground when using large pot and grow light
21 days
64° in your house maybe you should pay the heating bill and then you could have a little warmer in the house😅
Kidding actually that’s pretty healthy temperature. Sleep better breathe better. I think my house is 67° 68° usually

U can run anywhere from 12-18 hours, u dont have to exclude them from natural light
So hypothetically... if you needed to delay your planting due to bad weather or something you could slow down its growth by reducing its light/warmth and it would be healthy still?
yes I would run the grow light less hours if needed, but id probably just let the plant keep going and deal with it
