Having declared my dissatisfaction with this sharpener last night ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxDcr-y2Pf6xdnrFHrSP7dl9kpKaCozcSQ I thought about the problem some more. It occurred to me that I might be undoing each attempt at achieving a sharp edge by the repeated attempts. So, I tried to clean up the unsatisfactory result by honing with only positions 3 and 4.Miracle!! A really nicely sharpened chef's knife, more than enough to handle my needs. Admittedly, it did not reach professionally sharpened razor-fineness, but it is now significantly sharper than it was. A bout of breaking down carrots convinced me. So, major apologies to the manufacturer, Amazon, and all happy and potential owners! Follow the directions: don't buy it if you have ceramic blades; and don't overwork your knife blade.
+phildublin2005 Thanks. If you watch my video on the countertop sofa table you can see it in use.Link to the video here: ua-cam.com/video/7BNYSlyQTm8/v-deo.html
they are on sale for $139 at my sears, the 2000 model (demo one) is $70 but missing parts which would cause me to buy and that cost go up. But the 3000 sale is still too much for me.
Thank you for the kind attention, the plans I have downloaded are Sharpening jig for WorkSharp 3000, I wanted to use the templates for a matter of time, but the press can not place it, sometimes they are bigger, they prefer smaller ones ..: D
What is the longest length of blade you think should be sharpened? I have blades for a 13" planer that will need to be sharpened soon. Was thinking this might be good for them. maybe make the holding jig bigger to accommodate larger blades?
+Jarod Morris Tha grinding wheel is 6 inch, and I believe the slide is 12", but can easily be made longer, withing reason of cource. I have not tested it on longer blades than 6", but I guess it should be ok with 13", at least if you extend the base
+firstlegoleague8 The angle of attack, and the height (Y axis) is fully adjustable, and should be adjusted every time. Another option is to seat the blade a little shallower in the blade holder, but would be hard to get it co planar if it is vey long. But if you set it upe every sharpening. the angle of the blade will stay the same sharpening after sharpening
Hi, I downloaded the plans some time ago, I would like to use the scale models, can you tell me how much percentage the printer set up correctly? best regards.
Hi, What plans did you purchase. All the full size printable templates are 1:1, but it requires the use of standard A4 paper. If you are unsure, all plans have a page with parts dimensioned. Just compare 1 page printout of the full size with the dimension written in the plans
Very nifty! You could probably use part of the same jig to do chisels too. Roy, I have a question for you. I am currently building my new workshop. It is 6.2m x 6.2m so there's plenty of room for everything. There will be benches on three of the walls. One 6.2m wall will have my old Dewalt docking saw and possibly a new chop saw. The other two will be 3.6m long. Regarding the bench top. I have three surfaces under consideration. 1/ Melamine with a hardwood edge similar to yours. This is my preference due to price. 2/ Laminex (not sure what you call it over there but basically a kitchen bench top surface). But this is very expensive. 3/ MDF with a hardwood edge. Your opinion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
David Handley Hi David, the worksharp 3000 is designed for chisels, among other things, and it has aport for inserting these to sharpen the bevel, and then you lap the back freehand on top. I have double 3"4" mdf with hardwood edge in my shop, but I would have preferred plastic laminate, as it cleans easy. I suspect you live in the UK (correct me if i am wrong) so I assume you refer to high pressure laminate (often reffered to as respatex). I work in a factory producing kitchen countertops, adn have access to some really nice free cutoffs, and 2nd grad products. But since my bench is 80 cm deep, these are harder to come by. I would recomend a slick surface like the melamine or laminate to easily keep it clean. Melamine is easy to clean also, but not very resistant against hammering on it,. Good luck on your build
I purchased the WorkSharp sharpening jig and Thin strip ripping packages from the website. Downloaded OK but the .skp files won't open in SketchUp 2015. Maybe a version problem?
+Leonard Gump The sketchup plans are drawn in Sketcgup 8, but opens fine in my Sketchup Make 2015. Send me an email on bellevuewoodshop@gmail.com and I will save the plans in Make 2015, and email you these
I discovered that If I don't try to open the .skp file from the web, but save the .skp then open it, it works OK. Don't know why it didn't open directly from the web. But all is good with the saved version. Thanks.
hundreds of you tubers make music videos I hope you are able to talk looks like you got it sharpened but how you got there is lost in the music mjsquirrel
I can see that this jig would be very handy sharpening planner knife blades vs buying new blades. Well thought out.! Bravo!,, 👍
Thank you for watching Sir😀👍

Thank you MRrwmac. I waited along time to get this one on sale from Sears, at a really good price

Thank you for the reply. I'm going to be buying some of your plans.
What about the Y axis ? once you sharpen it a few (20+) times it wont be at 25 or 30 deg angle anymore right?

04:25 From there I lost track of the process … Nice work though.
عملك حلو والحلا من هذا ماتكلم
Bellevue Snekkeri? Norwegians?
Yup, Norwegian
Nice, I'm from Sør-Trøndelag myself. Or South-Moonshineville in english.
+Freddy Jay South-Moonshineville.....there should be a place in the US in George or North Carolina named that too. What a great name.
I am just waiting for that sandpaper to tear! Ahhhh ha ha ha ha!!!!!!
***** Very little pressure is applied when sharpening, so I think its going to last
7:55 looks like its off by a 1/16" no good.
+David Sanders Well...its not
hundreds of you tubers make music videos I hope you are able to talk looks like you got it sharpened but how you got there is lost in the music mjsquirrel
As English is not my native language, I chose to have some un-narrated videos, and the music makes it a little less "muted"
And all the hand holding parts on the drill press! OOOOhhh finger!!!!!
Та зжег же.
I may try to Hillbilly engineer my grizzly grinder to sharpen my planer and jointer blades. Nice video.
Thanx, that would be cool to see pictures from
