Family is definitely important no need to apologize, this channel is the reason I'm building a overland trailer for my son (6 days till he's 4) for his power wheels jeep. So thank you for the inspiration.
Family first! Never apologize to anyone for spending time with family. Great job with filling the whole on the fender. When I first started ironworking, in order for me to do fabrication and welding I had to take 1" thick plate steel, cut a minimum of a 1" diameter hole with a torch and then fill the hole with only weld no filler material just to be allowed to weld anything our company put our quality of service guarantee on. Filling a 1" hole without burning out more material and properly filling it challenged my skills completely and the confidence it gave me doing it first try without a single mistake, it had launched me far in the company very quickly. What took 25 years plus to learn and perfect for generations I was able to do I 5. Mistakes like that, in the world of fabrication are comparable to Bob Ross saying it's a happy accident. By that I mean the skills you gain fixing the mistake far out way the mistake in the first place. As long as a weld can be rooted a whole can get filled. Patience and deliberate thought out steps.. Excellent work!
ABSOLUTELY AGREE w you Nate! The kiddo’s are only young once!! You can’t ever get those times back so yes prioritize your time w them 1st on these occasions so neither of you miss out... you’ll NEVER regret doing so!
Plus it's better to take the time and see it built right rather than cut corners especially when others are using it for inspiration. I love watching the process of everything coming together. Keep up the great work.
Don’t ever feel the need to apologize for having your family come first. Work life balance is huge and when you have little kids it’s especially important to spend time with them since they will have those memories for the rest of their lives. Can’t wait for more on the project but make sure to enjoy the little guy being 4. Enjoy!
Your skills and smarts in fabrication are only dwarves by your skills and intelligence in parenting. Kudos brother for knowing and following up on your priorities! 👍🍻
That’s the life of a family man that works on cars. Sometimes you want to get a ton done but to me, family always comes first and I know most of us respect your decision to take your son camping. Happy Birthday to your son, and have a great trip! 🤙🏼
I agree with Danny: don’t make it part of your platform to apologize for time related issues. I respect your channel. And your family. Done with this. 😁
You are a true craftsman Nate and your videos show what true craftsmanship takes. That's the kind of thing I really want to learn too. It sets you apart from what a lot of other people doing metal fabrication show in their videos.
Just went camping with my 4yo last night so I can say you definitely made the right choice! As a father of 18, 16, and 14, year olds I can say time flies and you gotta take advantage of every moment before they grow up. Don't get me wrong, trailer is awesome, but like you said, kid is only 4 once. Keep the vids comin!
Like you said... "He's only 4 once" and the time with his dad is priceless! I'm sure it'll live in his little head the rest of his big long life! Enjoy the weekend Nate. The fenders look sweet!
I spent a lot of time at work when my kids were little, and I'll never get that time back. You don't need to apologize for spending time with your kids.
Great job. It's coming out awesome. Don't worry how long things take. It's not about speed, it's about quality. More time equals more videos for us! Enjoy family time!! Need a healthy work and Life, personal/family time, balance. Kids grow up too fast! 👍
For filling holes I keep a piece of copper bar handy. Clamp or just literally hold it behind the hole to create a bottom, then use the mig gun to fill the hole. The weld sticks to the surrounding steel, but not the copper.
Love your work! I'm one of those that geek out about fabrication videos and yours are some of the best. Welders tip though for a quick fix when you blow a hole, use a piece of brass or copper on the opposite side of your weld. So in this case, if you put the brass or copper on the top side of the fender and weld under, it'll leave a nice flat area that just needs a small touch up from a flappy wheel. The weld will not stick to the brass or copper. If you don't have any readily available, an old welding cone, or tip also does the trick! Thanks for the great content!
Love the build so far. Keep up the great work. No apology required. Family time is a must and I would (and have) stopped working or put something off for a different time to spend with family. Helps do 2 things. 1. making memories that they will carry with them for years to come. 2. helps keep from getting burnt out.
Family First and its awesome to see your son getting out there with you. We watch you do all this so you can enjoy your time using it with the people you love! looking great man. have fun!
FAMILY FIRST - front Dimple die area needs a vertical handle above it to add as a step to get to the roof .. fender looks strong enough to work as a step/seat
I’ve been binging this build. At first I was unsure about how it would look(not a trailer or camping expert by any means) it’s coming along very nicely and I’m really digging it so far!
Good to go on the diamond plate! I had to repair a hole/notch cut out of the hood side on my Willys CJ2A, that included hand forming part of the logo into the repair panel. You can not tell from the outside and only barely from the inside. I was once told "It is not about never making a mistake, it's about how you fix your mistakes".
The trailer build is turning out Awesome! As far as the boo boo on the fender goes... You'll never see it when you're riding by on a horse! Good job! Now go enjoy camping with your son!
The fender turned out perfect! What might be vewed as flaws are a mark something made by hand, something like that is just part of the jurny not a flaw
It's nice to see someone who can take being a father as seriously as you do. Also, I'm lovin the trailer! Makes me wanna go do one myself one of these days😄
BOOM! Love the fenders. Love how you demonstrate fabrication techniques for the common guy. You don’t have to own lasers, press brakes, plate rolls to fab cool stuff for yourself
For your diamond plate hole repair, try taking a chunk of brass and holding that or clamping that to the back side and plug weld the hole. Weld won't stick to it and you can remove the brass from the back side and just clean up the surfaces.
Great content, even better to see the channel takes a backseat to family. As a father of one in college, a senior and a sophmore, it flies by and you don't get it back.
I think you did an outstanding job on the fenders. I would have plugged the hole too. You are doing an amazing job with this and I am very inspired to entertain the idea of making my own trailer. I am seriously considering it. Thanks for sharing, Pat
I loved the video. Want to try a true fabricator’s dream (nightmare)? Try keeping a 1993 LR Defender 90 both road worthy and trail worthy. We just completed a 600 mile road trip to complete a 4-day overland adventure on the Canyonlands National Park White Rim Road. As a LR aficionado you will appreciate the 4-speed manual transmission, manual transfer case and the 200Tdi diesel engine. No AC either, not that we needed it in November. Love the tube fenders on the trailer. They look pretty bullet-proof from most horizontal load directions. An impact load force from below while off-camber with a 45-degree upward front to back shearing force?
You amaze me dude! Seriously! I would kill to have what you’re building. So freaking cool and unique, and creative!! And all the amazing tools you have. Wow! Great great stuff man. Love it.
After watching this series, I’m starting to chuckle at using a Harbor Freight frame as a base. With your skills, fabbing your own frame would’ve been no big trick.
You might not have a piece, but I think copper can be used as a backing plate for fixing holes in steel with a welder. Clamp the copper on and fill the hole slowly with the MIG from the edges in.
On the"left side" with the big open flat side with no doors or anything u could attach traction boards or any other tools that could help on them 4x4 trails.
Those fenders look great and the repair is barely noticeable. To be honest, I don't think anyone outside of yourself would ever notice and i'm sure after a couple of trips those fenders will have more imperfections in them anyway.
Don't ever apologize for wanting to spend time with your family. Family should always come first. Trailer is look awesome. Love the fenders.
What did he FIND???
@@CORNDODGER excuse me I spelled it wrong..........
@@CORNDODGER there I fixed it. I didn't know we had a English teacher on here lol 😁😁😁
Took the words right out of my mouth.
Exactly right.

Family FIRST!!! Work second!! Always! Never apologize!
Dude, I’m going to support you on patreon right after I’m done writing this because you chose family. You did get some work done though.
The difference between a craftsman and a jackleg is a craftsman know how to hide his mistakes. Well done.
Spending time with your son / family should always be a priority.
Never apologize for spending time with your family especially your kids
ABSOLUTELY AGREE w you Nate! The kiddo’s are only young once!! You can’t ever get those times back so yes prioritize your time w them 1st on these occasions so neither of you miss out... you’ll NEVER regret doing so!
you dont give yourself enough credit. those fenders are more professional than what i see sitting on the lot
I don't get YT algorithms but everyone uploading at 7 on Sunday AM sure works out good for me.
It’s when a lot of people are watching!👍
Lol
Plus it's better to take the time and see it built right rather than cut corners especially when others are using it for inspiration. I love watching the process of everything coming together. Keep up the great work.
Amen brother. Family FIRST. Your video is NOT too short. Your doing a great job maintaining your balance here.
Being a father myself I respect and appreciate that you are choosing memories with your kid over this project.
Don’t ever feel the need to apologize for having your family come first. Experimentation is an outlet of creativity!
Family is always first and always should be.
Love the fenders and the boo boo fix turned out great.
I agree with Danny: don’t make it part of your platform to apologize for time related issues. I respect your channel. And your family. Done with this. 😁
I got my patch that I ordered, just wanted to say the the little hand written thank you from your wife or whoever is a nice touch. Thank you!
I think I speak for a lot of us when I say, we love that you're a real dude. Take the time with your family, it's well deserved
The fenders look fantastic! Glad you were able to fix the hole. That won’t even be noticeable when it’s painted.
You are a true craftsman Nate and your videos show what true craftsmanship takes. That's the kind of thing I really want to learn too. It sets you apart from what a lot of other people doing metal fabrication show in their videos.
You made the right choice to go camping with the kiddo. You won't ever have regrets about the time you spent with them, only the time you didn't.

HI, I PRETTY SURE I HAVE WATCHED , LIKED AND SHARED MOST OR A ALOT OF YOUR VIDz !?! THEY ARE WELL EXPLAINED, PRICISE AND TO THE POINT !!!
Budget..
Harbor Freight...
Overland, got it.
Trailer, for sure.
Tank trailer, probably.
Looking good, definitely!
Great job. It's coming out awesome. Don't worry how long things take. It's not about speed, it's about quality.
More time equals more videos for us!
Enjoy family time!! Need a healthy work and Life, personal/family time, balance. Kids grow up too fast! 👍
Camping with your son is the right choice. Enjoy!
Nate, I never miss a good opportunity to make memories with your young ones. Good for you go enjoy the snow😎👍
Family always first. Enjoy your time with your son.
Looks amazing and you're finding a great balance between work and family! Not always easy to do.
The progress looks great.
Heck ya spend as much time with family now! Take it from me they grow up and are busy with other things, projects will always be there!
You 100% made the right choice, family first!! GOOD DAD! love your videos also.
Good choice on putting kids first. Makin memories……
We will be here when you get back. Family first
Family is always first. Have fun with your son.
You won’t get the time missed back. The trailer is coming along nicely, HAPPY Holidays❄️🥳❄️

Time with your son is definitely more important than filming for our entertainment/learning
Family always comes first. Good on you for it.
You always do great work, but this thing is turning out way cooler than I thought it would.
Thanks bro... I think lol
Love the build so far. Keep up the great work. No apology required. Family time is a must and I would (and have) stopped working or put something off for a different time to spend with family. Those fenders look awesome! Family is the most important! Hope you and your son have fun in the snow!
Fenders look great and makes a big sturdy step to get to the tent.

You can not tell from the outside and only barely from the inside. I was once told "It is not about never making a mistake, it's about how you fix your mistakes".
It so good you use all the safety gear not like other channels. You are a good roll model for beginners keep making very cool vids
The trailer build is turning out Awesome! As far as the boo boo on the fender goes... You'll never see it when you're riding by on a horse! Good job! Now go enjoy camping with your son!

BOOM! Love the fenders. Love how you demonstrate fabrication techniques for the common guy. You don’t have to own lasers, press brakes, plate rolls to fab cool stuff for yourself
I'm learning a great deal from your channel. I'm also learning you're a great dad as well. Good job.
I think you aced those fenders. Nice work! Family first!
Being a Dad always comes first.
The trailer is looking great. I had no doubts you could repair the hole and not be able to tell.
Repair looks fine... Enjoy time with your kiddo!
Bless you for your priorities! Have FUN!
For your diamond plate hole repair, try taking a chunk of brass and holding that or clamping that to the back side and plug weld the hole. Weld won't stick to it and you can remove the brass from the back side and just clean up the surfaces.
Man, if I worried about every hole I burned through welding I wouldn't have finished anything! Your doing awesome stuff, keep it up!
Great content, even better to see the channel takes a backseat to family. As a father of one in college, a senior and a sophmore, it flies by and you don't get it back.
Those fenders are vary symmetrical in correlation to tires… Bravo 👏🏼 great job !!
Hope you had fun with the kiddo! Always put them before work. Yes I know it is hard to do, but they will be 20 before you know it!
I think you did an outstanding job on the fenders. I would have plugged the hole too. You are doing an amazing job with this and I am very inspired to entertain the idea of making my own trailer. I am seriously considering it.
Thanks for sharing,
Pat
Trailer is amazing and family is always first man!
We can wait bro ! Take that boy camping. Have fun

Damnit Nate! Every time you build something I am in awe of your work and your explanation along the way. So amazing! Inspire me to build more stuff!
I like how you explain the "whys" when doing projects. I learn a lot from watching your channel. Thanks.
Larning new things.
Thanks and cheers. 🍻
you got more than enough done, enjoy your family.
Good choices, Nate. Especially the last one!
Editing and music for the build was good this episode.
You amaze me dude! Seriously! I would kill to have what you’re building. So freaking cool and unique, and creative!! And all the amazing tools you have. Wow! Great great stuff man. Love it.
Have never regretted camping with my kids
4 is the best age imho, kids are everything...Yah bless...doug
BEST DAD IN THE WORLD !!!
Hell yeah man, hope it’s a great time! Take time with your family, we can wait!
That trailer is looking fantastic!!
Family is always first great job on the trailer
You do great work, no worries and flaws make things have style
Definitely worth not having to remaking the fender, looks more than acceptable for an offroad trailer.
That camper is a Tank! I enjoy the footage.
On the"left side" with the big open flat side with no doors or anything u could attach traction boards or any other tools that could help on them 4x4 trails.
Hoping a budget DIY tongue box makes it on the to-do list with this project. Great work, your channel is top notch!
To bend a piece of metal use a hydraulic press. Thick angle iron or pipe as your jigs. How I built the fenders on a utility trailer I built.
Those fenders look great and the repair is barely noticeable. To be honest, I don't think anyone outside of yourself would ever notice and i'm sure after a couple of trips those fenders will have more imperfections in them anyway.
Family always Nate! Those fenders looked like a PITA to mirror. Nice work
Definitely could see you on the Netflix show metal shop masters with that creative mind you got and your fabrication skills
Dude this thing is SO dope. I’m going to start on ours because of this project.
