*oh my gosh this was amazing to see at the time there was still like controversy - like you couldn’t make fun of Hitler but you could make fun of native Americans and it could still air on TV - and they actors did a really good job at making fun of the hypocrisy of it all*
I can SORT of see it... I mean, if the directors know they're about to do something the network censors won't air, they don't want to waste everyone's time, plus this business with an audience, studios, actor schedules... time isn't cheap.
Just sad to see something that would fly by at a normal place like a theater or comedy club. Then once you post it on tv just slap that censor on the job, who does waste money paying, the space to record because they are stopping the show and time. Like there was an episode where Drew made sure to warn the 4 that they had a pastor and a 6 year old there but then commented they should have also checked the show they got tickets to. Just give Drew the censoring job and I'm sure there's things he would take to heart and mind cause its his job on the line now.
I didn't realize until just now that Ryan actually does a Nazi salute during the actual song. Right before Brad sings the line "Listen here, to what I say, as Bill Cosby says HEY HEY HEY". Can't believe that made it to air.
One of my favourite things about the earlier seasojs with Drew is that they literlly had the vibe of just a group of friends messing around with each other and havng each others backs but on live television for us to enjoy. Its just sich a vibe

I wish they would come out with dvds of the entire taping of Whose Line. That would be awesome to see all the footage that the censors deemed offensive.
DVD's? what are those?
@Brendan Milburn he was kidding but yeah
I know they have the deleted scenes on UA-cam, you should really watch them if you never have before, they are not only funny but gives you a new insight into some if the episodes
underclas where can you find the deleted scenes?
Jaime F It stands for “Deadly Venereal Disease”. Every major city has a neighborhood where you can buy them from vendors right on the street.

I feel bad for all the Jewish people who had to see them making jokes about Cosby, that man was truly a monster.
I know right? It's almost like we forgot what horrors the African and Native American people wrought upon the Jews in WW2. We really need to be careful we don't make fun of Hitler though.
That would just be awful... sigh

I love Drew so much. “Just don’t make fun of fucking Hitler.” “Yeah, that’s great. Let’s make fun of the Native Americans, who gives a shit about them?”
Love that he saw that double standard and called it out.
It's difficult to describe how much I love this! This is what Drew Carey does to someone who tries to censor him on his own show
Their dedication to keep bringing it up in every skit, so that the original clip _couldn't_ be cut out of the final episode is truly wonderful.
The Guy who suggested this was a Time Traveller from the Future.
@Jojoforpres Only if Funny or Die sees the value in me, takes a chance on me, and hires me to write a skit. I could use the income; it would be life changing. Merry Christmas.

I remember a certain comedian, actor, writer, and director named Mel Brooks saying that the only way we deny Hitler his victory after the war is to point at him and laugh.
He also made his fortune off of dragging Hitler's name through the mud.
@@PyrrhusBrin not just through the mud, but also ON ICE!!!
@@nicholasperrin3241 Just prior to the Viking funeral.
Surely remembering that Hitler lost the war would be more denying 'Hitler's Victory'
@@a.m.gnovember151 Clearly, you have no idea that Hitler did a lot more things than wage war, and the effect he had on people's lives could be considered a victory in his effect on them. You deny that, by laughing at him instead of fearing him, that was the point.
The way Colin physically distances himself from Ryan after his Hoedown verse is really funny to me for some reason 🤣
"Our director, he can be quite a stickler,

@@russellgrosser-7677 It ended up airing though. He must have realized how funny the running gag was and changed his mind.
@@russellgrosser-7677
A lot of the times it’s out of his hands unfortunately. The idea was nixed not because it was offensive, but because of censorship laws elsewhere. The fact that the cast were willing to/ able to make fun of him to his face shows that he can’t be that bad
I love all of Drew Carey's comments.
“That was fantastic. Six million points a piece.”

I always thought it was unfortunate that every clip of Ryan's hoedown here is cut just a little too short. If it's played out, it shows the entire audience giving him a massive standing ovation. It's so cool.
Drew was such an underrated part of this show. Kind of like the glue that made it all go together. That's why I couldn't get into the new one.
I felt that way when Drew first took over hosting. Liked it better with the previous host. Changed my mind after awhile of course.
You can tell that the guys weren't quite sure what they could say/do around Aisha Tyler during their first season together. Once they knew her better (and vice versa) they all loosened up a bit. I'm really enjoying her and the dynamic she has with the rest of the cast now.
@@bluejello2001 na im sorry, she isn't part of the cast like Drew was. Aisha is a good looking B-lister. She's fun to look at, but really there hasn't been much she's been in to show off her comedy or acting ability, including Who's line. She is an ok host, not a good host. There are literally thousands of people they could have put in besides her that would have been better.
I hear you. I mean, Aisha Tyler is okay, but when I first saw her on the show, I had that Harry Potter moment and said “How dare you stand where HE stood!”
I may be a female, but that then gives me the rightt to put it bluntly and say the female frankly ruined the show. Fr tho. I gave her a fair shot, shes just terrible. Not funny, makes the show feel awkward, etc.
I LOVE how annoyed Drew is about not being able to make fun of Hitler lol nice to know he's on our side lol
I remember seeing this hoedown as a kid, it's funny on its own. Never understood the inside joke. It went from funny to absolutely hilarious. Improv is not easy in general but to come up with something as subtle as Ryan did...talent
The one thing that amazed me about this show was that even though they were told they couldn't use Hitler, they managed to find ways of referencing him.
*oh my gosh this was amazing to see at the time there was still like controversy - like you couldn’t make fun of Hitler but you could make fun of native Americans and it could still air on TV - and they actors did a really good job at making fun of the hypocrisy of it all*

Really can't believe they even have a censor for an improv show. Just so nonsensical.
Well it’s so they can’t get taken off the air for being “too offensive”
the network knew what they were getting into buying this show lol plus drew is pretty good at managing them, the whole point of him on the buzzer
@G that's funny...have you seen the garbage on tv? Besides, it's the left wing lunatics that need safe spaces that are all up on being offended.

Drew Carey is worth $165,000,000. He doesn't give a tinkers damn what the producers think.
Drew and Ryan were both producers, so they can get away with a lot more than they normally would have.
