Into the Breach AE 40k Perfect Victory Unfair (Bombermechs)

- This is a perfect victory on Unfair using the Bombermechs and all AE content enabled. Some specifics:
40k score
All objectives complete
No pilot or mech deaths
No grid damage, resists, or pylon damage
Bombermechs squad
All AE content enabled
2hr 48min run time
Getting a 40k with Bombermechs took me more tries than I'd like to admit. I cycled through a lot of pilots before I accepted the meta that Bombermechs = Silicamechs, but even then it was rough, because that first island still sees them vastly outgunned. I was even streaming on twitch the night before and griping how there was so much touch and go luck involved in the first few maps - then, I got Silica with +Reactor, and that was just slightly enough of an edge, but I was still failing more often than not - then, I got this run, where virtually everything went perfect, and I got early access to 2 very powerful weapons, Explosive Warp and Frost Beam. Explosive warp gave a much needed push to Swap Mech and Frost Beam took a lot of the pressure off on Island 2, where difficulty peaks IMO. After that hurdled was cleared, you'll see I had pretty much no trouble - and I didn't even upgrade the bomb launcher until the final map because we didn't need it.
Silica is obviously the MVP here, and I tried to make this squad work on Unfair with other pilots, but if you want the 40k he's the best option. The low damage output of the Bomb Dispenser and the lack of damage upgrades on the spiders means it's either blocking emerging vek or taking a hit most of the time, and on Unfair that just isn't enough damage. Silica producing 2 Walking Bombs, or better yet, 1 Walking Bomb and then firing some other weapon, really makes this squad shine. This ended up being my easiest 40k so far, largely due to how smoothly Island 1 went.

What an absolute god start. A skilled Silica powered up on mission 2 and a free cost unlimited use AoE push weapon. You could spend hours rerolling and restarting and not get a start this good.
When you are going for 40ks, most of your time is spent restarting.
Definitely the squad I scratched my head the most at tbh.
I have no idea how I will do SJ or SS on Unfair.
Shoots bomb
bomb picks up cargo
bomb explodes
He died doing what he loved. Exploding.
This is definitely the big brain squad it takes so much thinking to play it optimally
They definitely are up there in terms of precariousness, Hazardous Mechs are too.
Great work as always. These vids deserve more recognition!
Thank you! Unfair is in a league of its own compared to all other difficulties.
These kinds of stuff always amazed me, people can deal with a bunch of Alphas Vek on a daily basis while I still stuck multiple times on Easy Mode
As long as you're having fun, that's what counts.
Got better?
Exchange mech is so OP tbh
It is, especially since you can target friendly mechs, veks, tanks, any other spawned NPCs, etc.
Youre crazy, inspired me to do my own challenge runs for this game
Bombermechs are the hardest for me to play, but I begrudgingly call them the best late-game squad at higher difficulties simply because they have the best action economy out of everyone.
They are so fun
Love your videos, been recently getting back into this game, it's really fun seeing how good some people can be, informative too
Thank you
unfair difficulty because these poor aliens are trying to get a single hit on a building against an omniscient god
Unfair to both sides
When are you going to continue this badass gameplay? I'm really looking forward to seeing other squads on Unfair. You're awesome!
I'm currently working on a huge side project, which is developing my own indie game, so it's gonna be a while!
@@soulmata Good luck with your project, drop an update for that too if you can afford it. I will look forward to your return on Unfairs!
By the way, do you think perfect Unfair is doable with classic squads? Do you plan to?
@@themobius5798 Totally, you can do Unfair with OG squads on perfect. I have been doing some practice runs lately.
@@soulmata I see, so they are not powercrept then.
@@themobius5798 I think the newer squads stray into OP territory, I mean it was certainly much easier to get 40k with Arachnophiles for me than with Rift Walkers. But I don't know for sure that means they are "definitely" OP.
Why do you always go Museum-Desert-Ice-Factory in that order?
Without wasting time looking through what enemies will be on what islands to try and optimize, Archive is generally the best first island because of the number of maps with special boosts. Mines, Archive Jet, Dam, etc, that can all make a map much easier. Conversely, Detritus has some of the best maps for dealing with all-alphas, which will be the case when you enter as island 4 (disposal, acid vats, etc). Pinnacle has a lot of maps where you need a lot of extra damage output to break ice or NPCs you can't control (mine layers, etc). All in all, I feel it's a decent safe choice to go in that order based on the types of maps.
Why don't you change your pilots(stock one to new with abilities)? I think you did the same in another perfect videos. Is it a preference or is there something I don't know?
I ride or die with those who were with me from the start

Bomber mechs are hard to use. Really hard. The first two islands of course are the hardest for everyone but for these specifically, I feel 90% of my runs end there. Either crap rewards or impossible choices.
My issue with some squads is that they force you into something that only works later on. Early game, it's sooooo important to have reliable 2 damage sources and even more to have long range movement tools. Being able to move things in ITB is mandatory. Squads like Steel Judoka and Flame Behemoths really struggle to get going. Some weapons are also wacky: how come I need to upgrade the hydraulic lifter to have it work decently while the prime laser is just OP as hell? Fun stuff like The Big One is literally unusable in the slightest presence of buildings and some weapons are just... bad. Like, what even is the grappling hook. Subpar even in the perfect conditions. You want to be at long range with lots of movement to be able to instakill/reposition stuff but the mech it's on is meant to be in the midst of the fight being armored without anything else. I always have to get another brute weapon and remove the hook later. Then you have Titan fist. Base 2 damage, infinite, no power required. Can go to 4 damage. Oneshotting anything remotely threatening, especially synergic with any pilot that has Boost (Kai is my preferred choice but Morgan is also great). Why. Ironically the base squad is among the strongest and most versatile ones.
Honorable mention to the stupidest and most OP weapon ever, smoke bomb. Put it on anyone with conservative and you've just cleared half the maps for free. Bonus points if you're using the Mist Eaters.
Gameplay is phenomenal. I often lurk around to see new strats for the tougher runs, I'm going for achievements as I want to unlock the secret squad.
Steel Judoka is probably my least favorite squad of all, mostly because they are so inconsistent.
@@soulmata I find it a problem when the first thing you want is another main weapon instead of the identity of the mech you're piloting :(
Does anyone know how to use console commands so you can always give your pilot the abilities you want? I'm tired of grinding out trying to get Opener and Mech Reactor on pilots. Just posting here out of desperation. If you know, please help.

When i change pilot why my pilot skill reset?
If you change pilots the pilot always resets to no XP. They can keep the XP only if you don't change them.
Nice!
Nice!
50:35 that's a familiar sound!
FTL indeed hahahaa. Sunset Games are indeed masters at making these strategy games
How people even do stuff on Unfair? 😮😅
7 months. The next squad you’re working with in unfair must really be giving you hell
I took a break from ITB to make my own game!
@@soulmata o shoot. Would be cool to see some videos/streams of your work kinda like the dude who’s making Mega Man X: Corrupted.
What are you using to develop the game?
I enjoyed your pausing to consider the Explosive Warp free weapon. lmao. It's total shit most of the time, of course. Strictly worse than Boosters.
so based on what I've seen the default mechs are shit for unfair
did you die irl? no more videos
I got busy making my own game. It's on Steam in early access now! A turn-based psychological horror called Endless Dark. steamcommunity.com/app/2290890/
@@soulmata sick. I gotta check it out.
Well, that was a good game, but it was periodically painfull to watch
