I got the base model M2 Air (in Midnight) on release day. Upgraded from a base model 2017 12-inch MacBook. I've been loving the new Air! My workflow involves mostly basic computing tasks, so this machine has plenty of horsepower for me. The most intensive thing I do is work with Photoshop on a weekly basis. It's a great laptop for 90-95% of users out there.

Nice gear and video there! I have one remark though: I remember having read somewhere that some time after the release of the M2 MacBook Air, Apple started using the same SSD configuration in the M1 Air too. So there should not be any advantage anymore in SSD performance for the M1 machines produced recently. Not sure if it is true or not.

Why do they keep saying it will struggle with more chrome tabs! I have over 50 open right now with no issues.

On my home machine I'm making music, surfing internet, sometimes coding.
I have upgraded from MacBook Pro 2014 15" with i7 to silver baseline M2 MacBook Air and I must say, that the difference is day and night.
I'm also using M1 MacBook Pro as a working machine, so I have something to compare to.
It's definitely impossible to feel the difference in basic day to day usage in SSD speeds. CPU and RAM is enough for browser and Logic Pro X.
My tips:
1. Think twice if you really doing something THAT crazy to notice data transfers speed difference
2. 8gb is actually enough for this machine for all of the basic tasks and even more (music).
3. Buy this thing when it's on sale. Here in Germany I got my laptop for moderate 1300 EUR instead of 1500 EUR.

I'd buy this soon for word processing, and some office tasks for my work. I need a light laptop that is powerful and don't need to charge in between office hours. Is it cool to just buy the base model? Thanks

I agree, makes sense to spend a few extra bucks and get the 14 pro. I have 16 inch Pro and also M2 air for my business travel because it weights next to nothing. Great video!

i dont know what people are talking about
i have an Apple ipad air (256GB) (8gb memory) 5th gen and i have multiple tabs open at once while i have 800 songs downloaded on apple music plus i watch movies on it plus 10 additional apps downloaded so its a beast. know slow down or overheat
so im confident if i get the base model Apple M2 MacBook air (256gb) then i will be alright.

Agreed on it's use case. Emails, watching youtube videos, watching Netflix, Reddit, Amzon shopping, and their favorite sports team. Not something for professional use by design.

I don't think 13" pro is an option
Don't really know who'd like that laptop with the old design
However I agree that M2 Air doesn't make much sense with 16 gb or ram and 512 gb of storage
14" pro would be a better option if you need the power

Nonsense. We don't buy Macs for fashion; we buy them for ease of use, reliability, and power. Now with M1, we buy them as bargains.
