I Had a friend, my best friend, for a very long time, since middle school. After we graduated highschool, we hung out ALOT. We texted constantly. We were together whenever we could. We had long night drives, we laughed, we talked about everything, we shared so much of our lives. I realized I was falling in a deep love. And I was scared. So so scared. I had never experienced anything like this before. Every time we were together began to feel like bliss and torture all together. Every song I chose to play on the radio was a reflection of my heart. Every gift I gave meant more than I would say. And every time we would say i love you, I began to mean it more and more. But I was too scared. So I tried to move on. I started dating someone else. And I liked this person a lot. But, it wasn’t the same. We dated for about 3 months. The entire time, my best friend and I didn’t talk. And when the person and I broke up, I tried to get back in touch and we did. But it was not the same. We had a big sit down to talk about what happened between us, and to my horror, they had feelings for me. Felt the same way, and had been falling in love with me as I had them. But... everything was ruined. I said I no longer had feelings while, I think I had been wrong deep down. But nonetheless, we kept trying to fix our friendship, and absolutely nothing could. The feeling of a broken heart is like having a tree slowly grow thorns through your heart until it’s ripped clean through it, still beating. This song has made me think about this, with such a bittersweet feeling, but this is exactly what it was like to be together. That feeling of crushing uncertainty... if anyone has read this far, please... don’t let that person slip away from you. Don’t make stupid decisions and never tell them how you feel. You are missing something amazing. Just be honest, and tell them how you feel, because if you don’t you just torture yourself, and it feels terrible. Tell them the truth. If I’ve learned anything at all from my experience, tell them the truth.
