It’s amazing how you can make me want comics that I never even knew about.
Mysterio is a awesome villain! Great pick ups!
Mondays with Mike are the best!
Jeff is such a great guy. Well done on those pulls. Congrats.
Iron Fist 14 was the book that I had the most trouble finding when I was a kid, collecting in the 80s/90s. Before the internet, searching for books was hard, I would go to comic conventions monthly, and never even saw an Iron Fist 14, for years. Eventually I found a copy and it was the most expensive book I had ever bought (at $100). I ended up selling it for rent in my University days, but now I'm collecting again I finally picked up another, completing my Marvel Premiere/Iron Fist run. Great book! Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
Swamp thing & Iron Fist❤❤❤
One of your best episodes I clarify that by saying the amount of enthusiasm and happiness you were expressing it's rather contagious so keep finding those comic books in strange and unusual places and I'll find them anywhere I can.
I get it but in a weird way everybody knows how much marvel and dc comics are worth. There is a slim chance of finding them in rare and strange places. However I will never stop looking or hoping to find them in those sorts of places.
He,s done it again Mike just showed a comic I bought xmen 122 paid 20 pounds for it on ebay. I know it's in worse condition but I love owning it.
I am always blown away how much amazing stuff you find, well done sir!
That Thor deal was crazy
After being hit by that Hammer, I bet he’s Thor.
Man, that copy of Swamp Thing #1 is a beaut! When I was a kid, I was able to get a copy that was in really rough shape for just 25 cents at a yard sale. I was lucky enough to get it signed by Bernie at Boston Comic Con a year or two before he passed.
Great pick ups, X-Men, Iron Fist, and Swamp Thing w/ the detailed info. Just awesome.
That X-Men 122 looked flawless. Congrats on another cool haul that reflects your interests and joy. Glad to hear when you pass along to or buy a book for your kiddos. #ComicDad
Nice pickups. Really like that Iron Fist, in particular.
Very nice pickups Mike! I do like that Westcoast Avengers book. The yellow background makes it present very nice.
Always look forward to the weekly videos and pick ups
Wow, awesome comics. The super friends line have a lot of firsts appearance. Good catch!!
Swamp Thing after Alan Moore has a lot of great stories and Rick Veitch was one of the best Swampy writers while Tom Yeates is one of my favourite artists, not just in comics but in comic strips and paintings too.
Love the hot pink logo on Iron Man #282 and all the yellow and orange on the cover of Avengers West Coast #94.
That's a great bargain on those Silver Age Thor issues. Ulik used to turn up regularly in Thor but he hasn't been seen in years, I guess the more recent writers have no use for him (admittedly he never really did anything beyond boast of his strength, hit Thor and get defeated by Thor in turn).
Swamp Thing #1 is one of the great Bronze Age comics and has eluded me for years, glad you found your copy Mike.
I love that Iron First issue. Such a fun read.
Wow!!! That is one awesome haul of comics. You got some really great books at a even better deal. Love the channel. Keep up the great content. 😎
That X-men 93 looks like it's in BEAUTIFUL shape, what a wonderful gift !! I'm sure your son will cherish it !! I agree , you have some great followers Mike, so keep up the great work !!
Hey Mike, Tom here! I really enjoyed your video! I wish I could post photos on here, I would post a photo of my favorite Mysterio cover. He’s one of my favorite Villains too, the other being the Gray Gargoyle! I need to start looking for Gray Gargoyle appearances in the comics!
Wow, incredible books in this video! Very jealous of some of them!
Thor is a great run. The Kirby issues are excellent. Iron Fist 14 and Swampy 😁
PP Spidey 101 is one at the top of my grail list! Oh man, I'd love to find that one at a good price at any condition! Great pick ups!
Easy favorite haul you’ve shown…so far! Amazing stuff! My Iron Fist 14 looks like it was wadded up and thrown in the trash. But it pressed out pretty well. And I got it for 99 cents in a small bin at a record shop. Strange and unusual places for sure.
DUDE, I also love Mysterio, thought I was the only one, lol
Swamp thing and Sabretooth have my vote
I just bought a copy of amazing Spider-Man 66. One of my favorite Spider-Man covers ever.
Love the swamp thing
Good evening Michael
Only 100 to go to 10000K ! The secret is well and truly out ....Simple to say, nobody does it like you. The smile says it all, and what a collection of books. You are getting a serious collection together. I had a soft spot for the Lizard as Spidey best villain, but Mysterio is a top three contender.
Keep up the Amazing Spectacular work
Cheers Al The Goldkeyfourcolorkidownunda
Absolutely LOVE Ulik one of my favorite Thor battles.
West Coast Avengers #94 and 1993 Marvel universe series 4 cards are to me the best pick ups in this video.
Nice review.
Love that ASM cover!
Swamp thing covers are the best because of how strange they are. Totally understand picking one up but there are much weirder ones that’s are awesome too
The Spider man and swamp thing were my favorite.
Totally awesomeness of a video Brother! I remember the 1990's marvel cards. I graduated in 1992. Alot of interesting memories for Me. I appreciate You sharing Your passion and adventures. From Toronto Ontario Canada 😎👍❤️🇺🇸🇨🇦❤️📚📚📚📚📚💯💯💯💯💯✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
I just picked up that Spectacular Spider-Man 101 for 20. Definitely one of my favorite covers.
Love the books and the story about/around the books.
Thank you very much. Your's is among 4-5 channels I always watch and don't skip. 🤟💚🙏👍
Thank you so much! And yea you’ve been leaving great comments in the channel from pretty much the beginning, thank you so much!
Another great video! Great haul! My favorite book is Iron Fist #14.
wow remember the toys Colossus came with that same screw that he has on his back in that cover awesome
GREAT HAUL 🤓👊🏿😎
Pick up Thor 252 and 253 on the cheap. Great battle between Thor and Ulik. Enjoyed the video.
Awesome haul Mike I'm a big fan of Spiderman and the x man
I just found one of those UK Captain Britain books in a book store! Didn't realize it was a UK only thing. So glad I picked it up.
Off work today so watched lmc on the big screen!! Nothin like seein those keys on a 50in tv 😂 awesome vid Mike
Those comics are awesome. I hope to have those comic books in my collection someday.😮😊
My favorite comic you got is the SWAMP THING. Love that cover as well
IRON FISt is a close second
I'm still trying to find that Spectacular Spider-man 101 in the wild! No luck yet, but i'm enjoying the hunt!
Nice pickups! If you like Iron Fist 14, you’ll love Iron Fist 15 even more! Danny Rand alone against the X-Men, by Claremont/Byrne/Austin (my favourite comics team)! 😀
Hey, I'm glad that you like the books. Continue the great work
Ur a good dude!
Thank you so much again for you kind donation, I can’t wait to give them away!
Wow! Really nice Swamp Thing books! Bernie's art is amazing as always. But as hard as it is to choose, I'm picking that issue of Strange Adventures. Boston Brand, AKA Deadman, is one of my all-time favorite characters. Great grabs. And it was awesome seeing you on the Cannon last night! Thanks for hanging out with the comic fam!
I had an awesome time last night, we have such a great community!
@@lunchmoneycomics best community on Earth!
Iron Fist 14! I was looking for a copy at a local con a couple weeks ago and a vendor had a raw about 4.0-4.5 for $300! I just saw a video where Swagglehaus got a nice copy for $200 and yours is just under that. Glad I walked away from it and I’ll keep looking.
Nick pickups. I got a good bit of stuff this month. Completed my Epic comics Dreadstar run. Purchased a complete run of Legion of superheroes vol 3. My LCS also had a 17th anniversary sale. So I picked up a ton of random 90s- early 2000s comics for 25 cents each.
I always thought ulik what’s cool, I never looked into his first appearance. But I love an awesome cover that is not expensive and a first appearance. Now I’m going to be looking out for that one. Another great video!
Cool buys, Swamp Thing wasn't a read of mine as a kid. The first time I saw Victor Creed he fought Black Cat then I back tracked he fought Spidey futher back he fought Power Man and Iron Fist. Appricate the vids it has encouraged me to get back into collecting!
Great books!! However, I would put Batman’s rogue gallery just above Spider-man’s, but that’s from a guy who grew up on the Batman re-runs in the early 70’s. lol
Almost had to pry that book from my hands but I now know it is going to a good home. I also love that cover. Bernie was another one of those artists you just had to follow any book he was drawing. I’m going to say “Great pick up Mike!”
Haha thanks Jeff, I got it from someone with impeccable taste in comics!
They're all good books, but my favorite is that Swamp Thing #1. Always thought he is a cool looking character. I've read some of the Alan Moore Swamp Thing trade paperbacks from my library. Need to try to get into the character even more. Get out of my comic comfort zone.
Super jealous Mike, but happy for you too! I had two copies of Iron Fist 14 back in the 90s and ended up selling both at different times to comic book stores. Worst place to sell a comic. Anyway, been on the hunt to get that comic back ever sense. Love the content as always, keep it up! ~Jacob
Amazing round up! I've missed out on so many deals on a high grade Swamp Thing #1 because I was too slow to pull the trigger on it.
I don't display my comics, but I have a framed print of the ASM #66 on my wall. I think that Mysterio cover is one of the best.
That mysterio 2 part story is epic. Where he tricks spidey into thinking he was shrunk in the amusement park. One of my fav spider-man stories as well
I used to have that Iron Fist #14 in the 30 cent and 35 covers...sold long before they got popular. Remember Ulik beating the heck out of Thor but was a kid then, but remembered issue # still :-)..will have to pull copy out and look at it again..good hauls...
Nice vid, The 3 Thor books are a steal. As a Kirby collector I had to have them of course and paid a lot more for not really much higher grades. The Devil Dinosaur is also nice, weird Kirby stuff, but therefore so enjoyable (and cheap :) . Kirby was the best in drawing anything, his writing I value a lot less.
If you like Swamp Thing and Solomon Grundy, they are together with Superman in DC Comics Presents 8 and the story is really good.
Awesome books
Very cool Mike love the X-Men, IF #14 and the Swamp Thing#1. I always loved Dave Cockrum's work. He created some of the best characters. And costume designs too. I still have my MINT copy of IF #15 too. I payed $15 for oit aronf 2010 and a Werewolf by Night #15 too. Dracula vs WWBN by Mike Ploog. Even though I loved John Byrne too especially when Terry austin inked him. I loved Cockrum even before the New X-Men on Superboy & the Legion of Superheroes title. If DC hasn't jerked him around on returning his art on the Legion of Superheroes #200 wedding issue art. He probably wouldn't of left DC to do the New X-MEN. Bought all these comics brand new off the wall racks/spinner racks, local corner drug store and downtown newsstands in Milwaukee, WI. as a boy/ young teen/teenagerand young man. Marvel was really knocking it out of the park. But DC too had some great titles from like 68-78 too. Sadly many were canceled abruptly too. Congrads!
Dude!
I just made a Terri Austin comment in this thread before I read any of them.
Loved the Cockrum run on L.O.S H., but if he'd stayed, I might not have discovered Mike Grell, one of my favorite artists ever.
I always felt the musculature of teenagers was a forte of his.
And who inked a good chunk of his run?
TERRI AUSTIN!
😂
I wish you had said.....strange and amazing pick up.
Haha I was thinking it, do I get credit for that?
I’ll echo others in saying your excitement was exceptionally high in this video and with great reason. The total round up was amazing, but Swamp Thing…Bernie..beautiful my friend.
Man, this was a great video. Love those cards! Those Thor sequentials you scored for $5, wow! And that Devil Donosaur!!!
Did someone say John Byrne?!? 🔥🔥🔥 Great video as usual! Always love when I see a new video come up!!
Thanks Mr. Akins!
Awesome comics!! Love the Iron Fist and #1 of Swamp Thing. I’m not a Swamp Thing fan although I own House of Secrets 92 and Swamp Thing 37. I have got to get that issue of Swamp Thing you showed where he looks like a giant spider just to see what was going on in that book. I read, and I can’t back any of this up, but the first run of Swamp Thing had him traveling throughout time and one story would have been him meeting Jesus the night before He was to be crucified and the story was going to come out right around the time of Tim Burton’s Batman movie. DC didn’t want to have any controversy and the series was canceled. Again, I can’t prove it, I just read about it.
Wow, that’s very interesting, thanks!
I like the thor books
Love Jack Kirby covers, I have two devil dinosaur #1's myself.
Mike! That X-Men 122 is soooo nice! I’m jealous, I have a few copies but I’m on the hunt for a 9.8 candidate. Probably my fave Xmen cover, surprise surprise! Also love that the trinity all had their part of that one, makes me love it even more!
I had a feeling you’d love that one haha, I’m actually debating grading it, it’s incredible
@@lunchmoneycomics oh man I’m jealous but super happy for you! What a great book!
Nice!
Love the round up!
Amazing deal for the Sabre tooth!!
The speculator boom is bursted.
So many excellent pick-ups! It's amazing to see your collection grow in depth and quality. My favourite pick-up is the Swamp Thing #1 - truly a Bronze Age classic and I encourage your to pick up issues 2-10, which are also fantastic. Swamp Thing #1 may be the first true appearance of the Swamp Thing as we know him, but collectors will always chase House of Secrets #92. The cover alone demands it!
I sure do enjoy a LMC show and tell. I’ve got to say our taste in books is nearly identically aligned. Although I love Marvel, I personally am a bigger DC fan. So I get extra enjoyment out of seeing your DC collection expand. Hands down that 1st Swamp Thing was my favorite pick up of yours and what a key to have for your 1st’s of JL Dark members 🔥 great video as always my friend 👏🏽
Great pickups, keep hunting
Hello just wanted to say hello and thank you for your videos. I recently got into collecting comics as something to share with my uncle and your videos have been truly inspiring and now has me on the hunt at all my local thrift and yard sales.
Thank you for that, and thank you so much for watching!
$5 for those 3 Thor books is a crazy deal!
Boy that Devil Dino 1 is high on my search list! I have most of that classic run and that one I either find too beat-up or more than I want to spend. One of these days I'll snag it. The Iron Fist 1st Sabertooth has got to take it as big one for me in this video. I recently passed on because of price/shape and got a 1st Alex Summers & 1st Havoc instead. Another one that I'll get some day. Another great video Mike!👍
First Havok is definitely a book worth getting so be proud of that!
Couple weeks ago I just picked up the third appearance of Mysterio issue 24 amazing Spider-Man payed $40 for it at an antique store
Great video. I'll have to check out that Instagram page.
Thanks for another great video. While I love the ASM #66 (it was my first exposure to Mysterio as a kid of the 60s), my favorite of your pick-ups in this video is the THOR 137-139. My favorite THOR cover of all time is #137. My first THOR was #143, so I lucked into those other issues later and I absolutely LOVED Ulik! He was so scary to me as a kid, a true monster who was savage and hated Thor! He went on to appear several more times in the 60s and 70s, playing a major part in the Man-Gog storyline from THOR 154-157. You're in for a GREAT adventure when you read those THOR issues! Kirby & Lee at their peak! I also appreciated the POTA magazine; as a teenager in the 70s, I loved all the MARVEL B&W magazines, plus CREEPY, EERIE, etc. Thanks again for a great trip down memory lane! I'd love to hear how you liked those THOR comics after you read them!
A Ulik fan? YES! Thank you so much for this, I’m happy there are others who appreciate him and I can’t wait to read that storyline!
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on it! It's Thor's first adventure after he turns away from Jane Foster and discovers the Lady Sif! @@lunchmoneycomics
All You Need Now For The Anniversary Spiderman 2 Card's Are The Prism Card's.. But Then You Definitely Need the MacFarlane Era Spiderman 1 Card's With Prism Card's
😂😅
Go Mike! I was talking to you about Iron Fist last week and you already have one of the tougher books to get. WOW! An undervalued and underappreciated book in my opinion. Like you, I wanted it cuz I loved his Marvel Series 1 card!
I'm definitely more happy for you for Iron Fist 14 over the rest. Keep it!
Me and my cousins collected the cards traded them I finally got all the cards. Then the next set and then the next. I still have complete sets I read them for hours. And I also tried to get all the first appearances and DCs also Love Chris Claremont. But Nightcrawler wasn't my favorite Wolverine was. I love Iron Fist #14. Loved how Claremont how he wrote he always set up stories for later like Colossus son. I'm getting a comic press for Christmas this year
Those Captain Britain books are awesome.
Re the triumvirate:
Terri Austin is SO underappreciated...
I can't think of a single artist who did not suffer in his absence.
Just sayin'.....
Also, we're you aware Claremont has written sci-fi novels?
I seem to remember one called First Flight, but honestly I'm working off some fairly ethereal memories!
😅
Yes I feel bad I didn’t mention Austin because he’s omnipresent in these X-men books, good call!
Tom Yeates will be at OAFcon in Norman, OK this weekend. You should shout it out on your next video if you have more planned for this week.
Unfortunately all my videos for this week are already filmed, posted and ready to go. I usually try to stay two weeks out
Found all 14 issues of the maximum carnage 90s story line at a flea market Sunday. Always pick up those devil dinosaurs when I find them got a full run cheap a few years back. I sometimes grap stuff just for the art especially indie stuff get home and get surprised at values. Seen that swamp thing spider book in a dollar bin last week .
Nice find on the Maximum Carnages! That story brings back memories
Definitely some highs and lows for me in the comics you showed this week. The high was the Swamp Thing #1. I have a low grade copy of that issue that I picked up and opened it up to see Bernie Wrightson's signature. Unfortunately I wanted it to look a little better and had watched a video on how to restore comics (luckily I only did this to 2 issues). The purple on the cover was impossible to match so not much improvement. Last year I decided to get the signature verified and the book came back as a 3.5 but not as restored but the grader's notes indicated that it had a stain on it. 🙃 Perfectly acceptable. The low point was seeing Swamp Thing #87. I had purchased the splash page to that issue and during a move my wife's aunt was lining the cabinets and somehow was doing it on top of the artwork and cut through over half of it. I had had the artwork in a cheap plastic frame that kept falling apart so it had been set on the kitchen table without it. Still annoyed 15 years later. Anyway, great books and video. Keep up the great work!
Ron Harper was also on the 3rd season of Land of the Lost. The worst season but l loved that show.
I loved that show too! I remember it was on TV super early in the morning before school
One of my first (and only) CGC submissions included a Devil Dinosaur #1 which came back at a 9.6! Love Kirby art and it is so distinctive. Great stuff as always brotha!!
Just like you with the same series 2 cards, I thought Ulik was a major player. All these years later I've only read a handful of books with a cameo appearance. I'm most excited to see what you think of these issues. Going to have to track down a copy for myself.
Deadman!!!!!!
Thor 139 was the more valuable of the three ...
