Oh boy that DC comic book bin had the second appearance of Hawk and Dove, that book and the first appearance of the Ted Kord Blue Beetle are some books that are on my bucket list. I just bought the first issue of the Ted Kord Blue beetle's first Solo series in DC comics and i am now hooked on collecting for the Blue Beetle.
There are so many different charities out there. The fact that they support any it’s so cool. How many people just sell items take the money and indulge in things that really don’t matter. Thank you for continuing your positive. Approach to everything.
I understand most comic books have value because they’re old and very famous or they have famous first appearances or whatever happened in them. Or the combination and are rare. Personally, I just like if they have an awesome looking cover. It’s great that so many books are cheap while the artwork on the cover looks awesome. I don’t collect obviously I’m a total know near nothing about comic books. I used to but never got into it. I probably only have like 300 from mostly the early to mid 90s to mid late 80s.
Thank your sister in coinciding her wedding with a half off comic sale. Hats of and congrats to her. Also love the steranko fury titles myself too. Thanks for sharing your books.
Love Steranko . That Jungle Girl was a steal. Kudos to the owner. cancer survivor myself. Take the tests peeps, you never think It will happen to you. It does, and it can happen quick. I know and early diagnoses is the answer. Sorry to put a downer on this. It is important. Comic aficionados are the best. If only the world's despots collected comics...
The cover for Twisted Tales #1 is by the fantastic Bruce Jones done in a Richard Corben style, not by Dave Stevens. And Fantagor's claim to fame is as an early showcase for Corben's work. "A hybrid Nimrod/Master Mold/Sentinel from the future": no wonder I stopped buying X-Men at the end of the 80s. It's also hard to believe, when reading Captain America Annual #8, that Logan and Cap would become Avengers together in various iterations of the team in the 2010s. I second your view of Marvel Presents, a great title that's under-appreciated today. I don't know if it's ever been stated overtly but Ulysses' Bloodstone and the Star Jewel that embeds itself in Man-Wolf's chest (as seen in Creatures On The Loose, another brilliant Bronze Age title) seem to be identical, or at least two fragments of the same bigger jewel. In his short story "The Curse Of The Golden Skull" Howard briefly mentions "the iron-bound books of Shuma Gorath", who is one of the Great Old Ones, beings of cosmic evil devised by H.P. Lovecraft. Lovecraft encouraged other authors to develop additions to his Cthulhu Mythos and Howard's story is an early example of this. You're certainly right Mike in that Marvel did nearly all the real development of the character. No comics fan could pass up that issue of Cave Girl in that condition for that price.
Great pick-ups, Mike! The Premiere #10 is an epic find! Congrats!! That is one of my must finds for my must own dr. Strange keys! That price you got it for is beyond amazing! Such a great cause, too! I knew a few people who lost that battle, too. With all the research being done. I hope we get to the root cause and finally eradicate that disease. Thanks for sharing your amazing sources and finds again, Mike. We need more like you in this hobby. I know I keep saying it. It might be futile, but we need it. I'm hoping to manifest it!!😊 Can't wait for the next video.
Oh no!! You found out about Cave Girl!! All my secret loves are coming to light! I love it and I hate it! Old artists finally getting recognition they deserve. However, it also lowers my chance to find them for decent amounts when I get back to hunting. It's not just in "good girl" art too. Only hint I'm giving lol. There are A LOT though.
I really like that Captain America book where he's fighting the wolverine I have it as a matter of fact. I'm working my way down Captain America run down to two books then I'll have a complete run of Iron Man and Captain America and West Coast avengers, and a few other little ones. I hope you don't think I'm bragging I'm just sharing my comic book achievement with somebody that can understand the adventure of the hunt and the happiness and fulfillment of concluding a set.
Hi Mike (from Lunch Money Comics)! I´ll be visiting the states for the first time ever (I´m from Denmark) next month. For the most part we´ll be staying in Bangor, Maine. Any comic book stores in that area you can recommend I go visit? Anyways, keep up the good work 🙂 Kindly, Dennis from Denmark
Hi Dennis! I haven’t been comic hunting up there but I have a few UA-cam friends in Maine, Ricky from All Sorts of Words, and Bruce from Up North Comics. I’ll ask them! Either way it’s a beautiful area of the country to visit!
$1,500 for a 3.5 GSXM#1.. just like ever comic shop, always over FMV for no reason. EDIT since my response was deleted: This price markup is absolutely for “no reason”. No matter what the seller paid for it, that should have no bearing on what they have to sell it for. Overpaying for something then having the value go lower is not the buyer’s problem, it’s the seller’s. When I say “no reason”, I’m referring to the idea of needless markup for no reason. If it’s “only slightly above FMV” that’s exactly what “no reason” I was referring to. Why even put it slightly above when you can just put it at? You also may get a membership discount, but I guarantee there’s a membership fee, which would still put that book at or above FMV. And like I mentioned before my response comment got deleted, I like what they did for charity, & love your channel & what you do, & granted what I said doesn’t apply to EVERY comic shop, but I just find it lame when sellers needlessly markup things just because. You see that a lot now days, especially on eBay.
You shouldn’t assume no reason, you don’t know what they bought it for. And either way it’s not that far off from FMV and once you apply their membership discounts, someone is absolutely getting that below FMV.
@@lunchmoneycomics I guess I was speaking generally, cuz of my experience with a lot of comic shops that are way overpriced. Maybe this place is different, but there’s 100% a lot of comic shops out there that have needless markup especially on specialty items & major keys like GSXM1. But after membership fee (which most likely isn’t free), it would still be at or above FMV. FMV for a 3.5 is about $1,300-$1,350. No deals to be had except on the raws they don’t want & have trouble moving. No matter what they bought it for, putting it above FMV is definitely “no reason” - if you bought something high & now the value is lower than you bought it for, that’s the seller’s problem not the buyer’s. And putting it “not far off” from fmv is exactly why it’s “no reason” - cuz why not just put it at FMV? There’s no reason for it to be slightly over like that. I see stuff like that all the time, especially on eBay. Either way, what they’re doing for charity is great & I support your channel for what you do & how you do it. Big fan. Not trying to be negative, but I just hate when I see sellers taking advantage of collectors unnecessarily. Or seeing big ticket items with needless markup “just because”.
Thanks for the response, to be clear I certainly didn’t delete your comment, UA-cam probably filtered it out for some reason. Also no membership fee, you just build up credit the more you buy there.

When I see that cover, I can hear Wolverine’s claws bouncing off of Cap’s shield.
I just bought it myself a week ago at an LCS while on a business trip 1500 miles from home!
