The fact that you went straight for the Superman book says alot.....exactly what I would have done !!! Those yellow covers just grab your eye ...Love it ,Nice job !!! 👍💯%
1940's comics archie or not is a great pick up.
Come on Mike, raining cats and dogs is a classic! 😂
The Timely/Atlas/Marvel Goodgirl connection is still in play today. One of those good girls was Patsy Walker. She was frenemies with a girl named Hedy (not Hedy Devine though). And she stayed in comics long enough to make it to Marvel in the 70s. Then she found a superhero costume and became Hellcat.
And in the 80s married Hellstorm son of Satan. Divorced him and most recently dated Tony Stark.
I love the most recent Hellcat series and what they've been doing with her. I'm more of a DC fan overall but Hellcat in particular is one I enjoyed reading
I am so jealous of that Superman. Way to go!
oh me too ggggrrrrrrr lol.but i'm glad Mike got it😃😃😃
Love those two yellow covers!!! You are right, yellow is an awesome color for comics. Great hunt
Yowsers! A truly great score- good hustle at the estate sale!!
Whoa! Nice finds! I also know very little about Golden Age books but they’re all wonderful. My vote goes to the Archie book for the best purchase!
Amazing haul, well done!
Love it. Thanks for the shoutout my friend.
Yo, was waiting for this video. I'm the one right behind you in line
I was hoping to get that archie, condition looks great
Hey, thanks for checking out the video! Sorry I don’t sleep! I hope you got some good stuff though?
Great finds! Especially Archie! Today I found a great book I think. Found a copy of XMEN #83 along came a spider! My first and only XMEN book!
That golden age Superman book is awesome and i would get it cleaned and graded by CGC just to have a golden age Superman to display on your wall, awesome pick ups.
Amazing score! And I haven't even watched the video yet.
gotta love estate sales well done
If I was there first like you, I would have scooped them all up and bought all of them. Those golden age are so hard to find and for those cheap prices.
Yeah a lot of people asked me why I didn’t get them all and it’s because they were only accepting cash and I didn’t have more on me. Some companies take check or card but this one didn’t and it kinda threw me off
Fantastic Haul great job
Hi Mike. The early bird catches the worm, Kudos to you. Informative, interesting and entertaining, as always 😊
That yellow Superman cover will look nice on the back wall
It sure does, I love it!
I really enjoyed checking out these books, way to go being the 1st one there that’s dedication
I sent the video to my friend who knows way more then I do about comics.... hopefully he knows and can get ahold of you
Great finds my friend! My favorite is that Captain Midnight. Such a simple, yet effective sci-fi cover. Glad we both found some great books that day!
Congratulations on the score. 😊
I would grade the Archie book! That could be a major dollars! Great buy all around!!
That Archie Official Store Club Magazine is a big time book. I haven’t seen that particular issue but have seen similar books sell for $2k+ ten years ago. I do believe it to be in the $10k-12k range. Looks like it would be the only one on census if you get it graded. Absolutely amazing find for $5!
I forgot to mention, comic connect is in the process of auctioning off the Bobby Blue collection. Absolutely massive books being sold so there are a lot of deep pockets with eyes on the next few auctions (the books are being split between multiple auctions). If you’re looking to sell this, it may be a good idea to get this book in one of those auctions if you can get it graded quickly enough.
Defintly need to get that graded and the more and more people that see it and once you get it graded you should find out more and more about it! I wouldn't let it go for less than $1,000
Surprised that the Overstreet doesn't list that Archie in the promotional comics section. Must be in the rare to non-existent category! -- Congrats on the great haul.
Thanks so much for the info! I'm not sure I'll be able to get it graded before then but hopefully I can find some good connections through that.
That was an amazing haul!
I also appreciate the More Fun, World's Finest and Superman books in any condition.
What a blast! Thanks for taking us along. I am always intimidated by the competition at estate sales but I know some deals can be made there. Way to go!
Fantastic!!!
Hi Mike I love the new videos. I want to tell ya that IV brought 14 comics this month. Electra assassin's 2,4,5 amazing fantasy 15 facsimile of eBay and west coast avengers 45 and issue one of the penguin. I had a friend she was gd to me we had a falling out and my mental health gone through the roof. IV been buying alot of comics to help me I love your videos. And I feel that you and other UA-camrs I can turn too Hang out with by watching your channel. I'm really suffering atm. But watching these videos really help. And too anyone who suffers please watch these videos hang out. Your be glad you did. This is a good show to watch and it's getting me through a tuff time. Thank u Mike and keep on collecting. Glad there someone out there who supports the comic community and it's great talking bout these great comics IV now got 485 comics in my collection and really happy it's building up
I’m so happy to hear that some of my videos bring you a bit of joy. Hang in there and keep doing what makes you happy!
@@lunchmoneycomics thank you Mike really am thankful to watch these videos really has helped I mean that
My favorite one is the Superman one, I saw you going straight for it and Told myself that exactly what I would have gone for first too. Amazing haul! That Archie though, has to be worth quite a bit, can’t wait till you find out.
And to think, you could have missed grabbing the Archie! And the other guy next to you could have just as easily scooped it up! Great split second decision LMC 👏🏻
Yes! I didn’t see it and I got nervous, then I caught a glimpse of orange and it wasn’t claimed… I was very lucky!
Wow. Great video. Love seeing some really nice Golden Age going to a great home. What amazing finds and prices. Just the history of where those books have been. Wow...can't say Wow enuff. Very nice pick ups Mike 👍
Thanks so much, I’m pretty excited about them!
Very nice Mike! All of those are cool and the Hedy is very nice. That Archie is indeed super sharp! Congrats on the pickups!
I am so happy for you man! Congratulations on the books! And that More Fun Comics is really awesome! So many really fantastic books there, just wow!
Ohhh man, what a good story! The early bird gets the worm.. great Archie $5 pick up as I know what it’s lead you to and how much it means adding a big book like that to your collection. Awesome video Mike!
Cool finds ....on the hunt ...thank the friend! I like the Jumbo book and superhero books!
Fantastic comics Mike. If you stop to think how many copies of each issue were sold and how many copies still exist today, you get an idea of how rare any Golden Age book is. That's why I jump on any I find for a fair price, regardless of condition as long as they're complete.
I think you'll need to explain what a typist is and the concept of the typing pool to the younger viewers.
A number of these female characters including Millie The Model appeared in updated form in Marvel's 2009 miniseries Models Inc.
The Archie Fan Club comic is the pick of the lot, potentially huge. Well done.
Patsy Walker a comedy romance comic book character from the golden age is also part of the 616 Marvel universe before she was called as Hellcat when she first debut by that name in 'The Avengers #144 1976'.
Patsy Walker also first appeared in Netflix Jessica Jones series who later could have become as Hellcat due to an experiment where she under went to volunteer for to become a super heroin, but the series then didn't pick up on her story until Netflix canceled all the Marvel series since they've lost the rights to Disney.
Nice review.
Congratulations on Your Vintage comic book Gold. Thanks for sharing Your passion and adventures from Toronto Ontario Canada 😎👍♥️🇺🇸🇨🇦♥️💯💯💯💯💯✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️✨️
Nice haul! Never seen an estate sell with nice comics in my area. Have you done estate auctions? I would have missed those nice books with my limited knowledge. I learn a lot from your videos.
I haven’t done any auctions but I go to estate sales like this often
Wow!!! Great haul of comics. I do not currently own any Golden Age comics , but I am thinking about starting to collect them once I’m finished with my current collection of Silver/Bronze Age comics. Definitely got a lot of great books, one of my favorites that I would have definitely grabbed is the Texan comic. Keep up the great work. 😎
That was awesome. I don’t understand why you did not just grab every single one of those books on the table? You got a good deal for those. Perhaps the rest you could’ve gotten for another hundred or so dollars
There are a few reasons, the biggest being that this particular estate company only accepted cash. I had my checkbook and credit card on me but was constrained to what was in my pocket. The second reason was the nature of how they ran it, even though I was first to the table anyone could grab anything so I couldn’t really just claim the whole table. I could’ve left to get more cash and came back to get what was left but I was very happy with the books I got.
@@lunchmoneycomics absolutely.i would have been too.especially those golden age books so cheap.
Straight bee line for that comic table haha. I would have done the same, it’s very hard to find comics that old for sale besides for premiums from shops/dealers. $5-$20 a book is a good price range for golden age!
Amazing haul!!!
A race to the comics. Glad you were first...
Really like adding the valuations in. Keep up the great work!
I saw Bob Lubbers at his panel at the San Diego Comic Con in 2002. A very amiable and down-to-earth man. As an artist, Bob Lubbers was great! For the record, his name is pronounced "loo-bers".
I've not seen that particular archine fanclub comic, but I've seen similar looking ones of that era sell for $3000-$5000
Wow. Good deals and a good video. I have mixed emotions about estate sales because I’ve been on the other side of estate sales losing family members and their life collections. Im glad you got the comics because they went to a good home and at least to a person that will appreciate the books. Even if you sale the books it will help you in life. Thanks for sharing
I agree with you that the world needs more info on this kind of "Collecting". As a former comic dealer at the Hollis NH Flea (18 years), I truly believe there are more people who collect via Fleas, YS's & thrift stores etc than buying Action #1. Dan
I wholeheartedly agree!
Great video!
I find the older the comic the more interesting. Please do an update video if you end up sending them to comic spa.
Also, while I am not a CGC guy, I think that golden age books are more worthy of being graded.
Update video on that as well please ;)
Congrats on the finds!
Amazing beautiful finds brother 🙌🏾
The early bird catches the comic books. lols Good pickups!
The algorithm posted this video for me and I'm glad it did! I had to comment because I also have the More Fun 106. I picked it up at some comic con 20-25 years ago for I'm guessing $50 (it's in considerably better condition than your find, and I need to get it graded). I'm a big Spectre fan so I've always liked that title. I have one issue with a Dr. Fate cover and another going way back to 1937. Anyway very cool finds for you, congrats.
Reminds me of a vacation I had in your neck of the woods around 20 years ago: vacation in Rhode Island and the local paper classifieds had a garage sale with comics.
I went and found a big pile of silver and Bronze Age Hulks, including 102 through 120 plus 181. He was asking a couple hundred which was more than fair, but I didn’t have ENOUGH cash! So, off to find an ATM in an unfamiliar area. The whole time hoping nothing would happen to the deal. Long story short, I got back in a short time.
Bonus extra copy of 181 under the other one in the same bag! Eventually got the best one CGCed at a 7.5.
By the way, all your good girl books are easily worth hundreds each. And impossible to find. I’ll take them over superheroes any day. Also, Jumbos and Jungles are virtually identical in value. I’ve never heard of one title worth more than the other.
Fantastic score that we all dream of. Well done!
Stan Lee also used the first name Hedy for Hedy Wolfe, who was frenemies with Patsy Walker, whom she shared a comic with. Hedy DeVine, as you said, was later titled Hedy of Hollywood, drawn by Dan Decarlo.
Boy were you luck decided to show up really early. Thats amazing the condition of the Archie book is .
Bob Lubbers in The Texan was one of the Tarzan Artists in the daily strips.
I wish I could’ve got that worlds finest and the Superman
Great looking comics considering their age. The only Golden Age comics i own, 2 Captain Marvel from the 40's, are both coverless! Looking forward for more info on the Archie mag.
Mega pick up. That Archie is in amazing condition. Id get it slabbed could be worth a mint. Hedy is my favourite. Bit jealous here 😂
Would love to have some Golden age books in my collection. There’s a UA-camr using the Captain Midnight moniker. Love the DC books! Great colors and even better prices.
I would have grabbed the whole lot and make a deal 🤝
Congrats sir !!! All comic books are grail... the early bird gets the early worm.
Yeah that Archie book is an amazing find!
I LOVE THIS I WISH I HAD THIS KIND OF LUCK!
Haha, evidently you can create your own luck if you’re willing to give up sleep!
Fantastic pickups the captain marvel jr was my fav. As for the archie not sure if anyone in the comments already answered this but it reminds me of what DC did with superman and the tim department stores from early 40s to early 50s they offered a monthly magazine subscription with stories and puzzles inside they called it superman-tim comics. Looking up the Archie's they ran from 48-50 I beleive
My favorite book was the Crime does not pay book - I love those books - after that I like those Tessie the Typist books.
Holy Gefilte Fish! Well played.
It's very difficult to peg values for these older books as sales are few and far between. It can be years between documented sales and the Overstreet Price Guide may not be that helpful. Those Atlas/Timely books are great and a superb buy at those prices. Some of those are impossible to find in any grade and often sell for far above (multiples) what is in the guide. Congrats on getting there early and finding these awesome books!
Tessie is going to pay 25 cents to Service Men. Sounds like a deal to me. 🙂🙂
You got some cool books wowww great finds
i was at that same Estate sale, but a day later, they still had a few comics left, mostly Disney, looney toons ones, so i grabbed the rest of the Disney ones. Love me some Disney
Very interesting! I knew they were going all weekend but I’m shocked there were any left. Did you get anything good?
sweet haul bro 💯👍
SCORE!!! Some day......😊😅
Nice. It pays to go early. Can you tell me the contact information for who you use for press and cleaning? Thanks
Can you send me the contact information for the person you use for pressing and cleaning
He uses Comic Spa. I believe the contact info is in the video description.
You might want to check with Ryan of Automatic comics on his UA-cam channel about the Archie book. I think he picked one up like it and is getting it slabbed himself. At this time it is not on the census. His and yours could be the first two. They will both certainly be in high demand and could pull high prices in any good auction.
I actually did reach out to Ryan and had a great conversation! He also recommended slabbing it.
the early bird gets the golden age worm 😅
Very cool stuff!
Wow that superman :)
Awesome books!! Like you, I’m not a huge Golden Age person.
the fact that this particular archie store comic cover is a ghost online and the ones that can be found are around 5k in that grade... sounds like the value is what you want it to be lol. and that's a nicer cover than the others by far. to the right archie collector i wouldn't rule out 5 digits
Was thinking much the same ? It looks to be a rare book ? And in nice overall condition ? Could be a huge score ? I'm no expert on golden age Archie though ??
Don't tell me you passed on the Barks Duck book!!
Unfortunately I had to stop somewhere!
I was wondering if you sell books? If so, where could I look online? Thanks man. I really enjoy your videos!
I don’t often sell books, and when I do it’s usually in person, not online. But if there is something you are really interested in you can always contact me on Instagram or email to talk.
Wow congrats on the pickups! I’ve never gone to estate sales, but was wondering what your experience was like this time with the other buyers? It looked like from the brief footage they were respectful. I’ve been in lines for comics and I’ve come across some characters!
Everyone was extremely respectful, and that’s been my experience at all of these. Usually if someone is looking at something you assume they have “dibs” or you just ask if they are getting it. I’ve heard horror stories but I haven’t seen it and I think it just ones down to how the estate sale company manages entrance into the home
Like the good girl art.
good grabs by the way
I can't find that exact one, but CGC has Archie Club Catalogs from 48 and 49 on census, and in high grade range from 5K-6K.
I saw the same, crazy right?!
@@lunchmoneycomics The only other one I have found is one on Heritage Auctions from 03/2018 that sold for just at $1K at a 6.0 slabbed. So, yeah, crazy pick up for $5! Congrats man !!!
@@AngryOtterReacts whoa really? The exact same one? Mind emailing me the link? Lunchmoneycomics@gmail.com
Love that Superman book nice score! As for the Archie book... I'd reach out to the Cgc board... Lots of old school collectors there... if anyone would know it would be one of them cats....
Good idea!
@AutomaticComics May be can help with that Hedy De Vine
Thanks, I already reached out to Ryan!
What a great video!
I have been collecting for 50 years. I know golden age fairly well. Not as well as your buddies, for sure. For GA, forget about the "key" designation, because it is largely meaningless for books that old. You made a great score, FMV or whatever. Golden age books hold their value, you wont lose money on them. Particularly given the price you paid. Plus, they are so cool. By the way, I would have grabbed the Blaze the Wonder Collie. Not for its monetary value. I have both issues.
Just Subscribed 🙂
Thank you! I hope you enjoy the content!
@@lunchmoneycomics Thanks love old school comics 😀😀
My father was born during this period so he probably had a lot of silver age books but like many kids his age his mother my grandmother threw them away. My sister lives on the mainland USA and she told me about estate sales that happens up there. Both me and my sister doesn’t plan to have kids so the bloodline might end in our generation. She is younger than me so perhaps if I pass she might sell my collection through an estate sale.
Same. Some people dont really know that value of things.
Wakanda forever!!!
Great video, you and I are really into a lot of the same books. I’m more Avengers then X-men though. My Golden GGA passion right now is a Fiction House title Rangers Comics focus on Firehair. She also had her own title for 8 issues. (Sorta golden numbering is odd).
Congrats for the finds man. Early bird does get the worms lol. Any chance to put the Texan book for the 20k subs giveaway? :)
Haha I totally would but I already put that one aside for Allan!
Inspiring video!
Archie club magazines are dependent on the covers, if it has one of the actors from the show it can go for multiple thousands even ungraded, not being a photo cover that one might be worth a bit less, however I think the illusion of negative space with jugheads sweater could boost it higher. I would conservatively put it in that condition at at least $1.5K to $2k graded I think the sky might be the limit.
