Nah a lot of people can relate to this where you love a piece of media or character but the fans become so toxic and annoying that you begin not to want to be associated with them. Toxic fans can ruin a show or character for you. A youtuber that experienced this with one piece is gigguk.
i see him as a parallel to luffy, who was his kinda goofy, headstrong self. then nearly lost his family members(s). luffy took this tragedy, stayed true to himself, and worked to just be his true self AND strong enough to protect his family. katakuri took this tragedy and buried his true self under a facade he thought he needed to be strong enough.

After watching the vid, I'm seeing WCI from a new perspective or at least I am seeing some stuff in a new light. These themes really resonate with me bc my entire life has been a struggle with expressing my true self, I've changed my entire way of thinking to accommodate my true self and I'm really proud of that. I had to separate myself from caring about what people say and do because it is often very toxic and uneeded at least when it comes to me. Being someone who has gone through a ton of change, I can now read people decently well and I can tell that it all comes from insecurity and not being able to truly express themselves out of fear of being judged. WCI was already one of, if not my favorite arc in OP, but seeing it in this way has improved my opinion of it even more. Keep cooking king!

He even in his solo arc plays the role of some smart agent, how it’s usually was Sanji all the time, seems like Oda really loves Sanji and wanted to make his solo arc and just made Sabo.
