Saving A Cosmo - Making The Passenger Side pt2

- Опубліковано 16 вер 2024
- Another big chunk of Richards Cosmo completed, Nearing the finish line for this car now, in this video I make and replace the Floorpan, inner sills, outer sill, rear dogleg structures, front lower quarter and half of the rear quarter.
Aswell as various rust around the rear screen, fuel flap, boot floor and associated areas.
The video was too long (over 2hrs) so i have split it up and will post the last video of it after i have dropped the car off to the paint shop in the coming week. Excited to see further progression on this restoration as i will follow along and film updates of it at the body and paint stage and also the assembly until it's a finished and complete car again.
I have been flat out in the shop on various other cars so i haven't had much time to sit down and sort out the months of footage for this one.
Thanks for watching.
Thanks for all the time you take to share this skilled work with people you don't even know. Much appreciated. =)
Hopefully there is little tips and tricks that help someone out there and make their journey easier.
Bloody Brilliant!, you never cease to amaze me.....G'onya mate.
Cheers man
Great video 👍Love the factory bubble gum weld match up 😂,nice people sending and giving you new and old tools!
Haha it was harder to do ugly welds and match than it was to do a nice job.
Nice to see ya back at it 🤘
Yeah sorry for the delays in posting, been working on other stuff in the shop so haven't been up to date on these vids, most was filmed months ago. The car has about half a days work left on it and it will be taken to the paint shop next weekend! (if the headlight surround nuts ever arrive lol, have been waiting a month)
@@notevn no worries, really enjoying the process 🙏
Thoroughly enjoyed watching this. Thanks for sharing the cosmo journey. Love how you try to keep as much as possible of the original cosmo still in tact. Also, welcome back. You been missed.❤❤❤
Thanks man, yeah this one was worth doing the extra mile for.
This has been such an epic series, I have looked forward to these videos and to see the resto work done by yourself on this vehicle. You have done an amazing job! Glad you have saved it in a very genuine way. Thanks for sharing this process and keeping us updated with paint and the rest of the fit-out. Would love to see this example in person one day at a show!
Thanks mate, this one was definitely worth going the extra mile to make it as original as possible, also excited to see this one put together, will be such a rewarding thing to see it driving.
What a fantastic video and superb work. Personally, I think this is possibly the best metal and fabrication work you will see on UA-cam. Thank you for sharing it with us.
Always a treat listening to you talk about your work. Thx for not showing 20 minutes of spot welding.
Haha man I cut out soo much from these vids that I deem unnessessary/too boring.
It's like there's no need to include most processes and better to just skip them if they have been covered in depth in previous videos, also considering you're trying to cram weeks of work into an hour.
There are metal workers who do with much much effort and come up with mediocre results like crucible coachworks... but you do it effortlessly and excellently. Just natural talent you have.
Just a self taught monkey here, what I do is prob not the correct way nor is it great, it's pretty average.
unfortunately there is lot of low quality work on yt that is glorified/popular.
Awesome. So talented. Fantastic work 😊
Thanks for watching mate.
Thanks for sharing the progress, must feel amazing to have completed this car.
Enjoy the satisfaction, can't wait to see what else you have lined up later down the track!
not being charged for panel work because you are not an expert in the finishing out aspect seems like a gift, i guess you are getting better for it in the process so it will even out in the end. Epic build!
It's only fair, I feel I should be faster/better at the last 10% so I'd rather take my time and do it after hours.
Impressive handwork there, thanks for posting
Thanks for the vid! I appreciate the time and effort it takes to film, collate, edit and produce this content. I am speechless at your skill and ability to explain it easily. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for watching man, the vids are very primitive, and my 1 arm bandit spec working while filming 🤣 but it's just me here.
This video made my sunday morning perfect. Coffee and Cosmo. Nice one, as usual. Your attention to detail is second to none.
Thanks mate, everyday has a cosmo in it for me 🤣
Damn son, the amount of work you put into everything/ every piece its crazy! Respect! Factorys pump these panels out in seconds/ your job is not in seconds bro… damn. The amount of time your spend, im feeling sorry for your misses. She must be a hell of a bird to be so patient for your passion. 😀
U cool dude
Fyi im loving these vids. So educational and informative to me, but to share your vids 👋🤪 as u can imagine-
May i make a suggestion?
Make a few vids of your finished builds, to help get your channel grow! Your shop truck. For starters- i want that btw haha. Wanna sell it ?
Show us it driving etc. I can share that
You know I feel about your work! I’ve seen it past this point but still so cool to watch how you achieve it!
Just a pleb in a shed.🤣
I am speechless, fantastic work! You make it look so easy and effortless.
Thanks mate, it's definitely not black magic, a little care goes a long way, unfortunately the easy/wrong/fast ways flood the internet.
Sweet another awesome Aussie channel, just subscribed, old school panel beater fabricator by trade and spraypainter, in my 60s still at, nice clean work young man ❤🍻🍻🇦🇺🇦🇺🪃🪃🦘🦘
Incredible work!
Glad you think so!
Amazing work as always!
Thanks man
Well done!
Thanks man
loving this journey you are sharing
Nice work. I enjoy watching you make some special tool to form your needed shapes out of stuff laying about. I'm not sure how many weeks of labour went into that but it's a lot. Thanks for a great video.
A fair amount of time in this car, but well worth it! Gotta do with what you got, making tools to get the job done is part of challenge.
AWESOME AWSOME work , thanks for sharing .
Thanks for stopping by
Great work as always and looking forward to the next episode. As for original welding on hand built cars, i've had a few and it can be a real eye opener!
Absolutely fantastic work
Thanks mate
Love watching you work! And I’m glad you’re going to follow this car through to paint and reassembly, but what I’m really looking forward to is what you do to your one!
Me too man I'm really keen to see it all put together ,the amount of NOS and refurbished parts going on it are mind blowing it will be a brand new car.
I plan to do a little more on my own one soon, I got it to a rolling state the other day have just been collecting parts for the next stage.
You need 2 things in your life. A good spot welder and a bigger shed! Nice work!
Funnily enough I was just given a big fronius spot welder and plenty of different arm attachments for it a week ago, but I don't have 3 phase in the shed yet 😅 it will help in the future though, less plugs, way nicer finish.
Love your videos my favourite UA-cam channel👍
I’m doing a Rx3 coupe and watch you channel for tips and tricks you do
Amazing work thank you
Thanks bro, glad some info is helpful💪
Inspiring work!
Thanks for watching
Awesome work as always mate.
It's so good to watch a true craftsman doing his thing.
Great video
Thanks mate. Slowly improving every week.
Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching man
Your wife got you a gift of light, my Scottish wife got me a pair of socks and undies, lol. Great work, as always
Haha I got socks and also a coffee mug with the lights, so a win win
@@notevn Just as an aside, when you're doing the repairs and see the factory cock ups, do you feel frustrated and want to correct their mistakes? Like adding drains and re-welding the crap factory welding
Haha for every other car yeah I always improve on the factory issues so the same problem doesn't happen again.
But for this one I wanted it to remain as factory looking as possible so it would be very hard to see what has and hasn't been restored.
Your skills are amazing! One tip....... instead of a one hour video, do four 15 min videos more frequently.
I would man but I get carried away when working on other cars and forget to compile and upload 😅
freaking amazing, you're a metal god!
Enjoy the Clecos and the tools mate. They are now in better hands (not mine!)
what a beauty, 1 hour video!
It was a long one haha. Thanks for watching
your vids make my day , awesome work mate, maks me upskill myself
Glad to be of inspiration even though I'm about 15%/100 from where I want to be haha.
heck yes, been looking forward to this
Cheers for watching man
@@notevnthank you for taking the time to video all of it!
Nice work! The panels and patches you fabricate looks really accurate. It could be interesting to see more about the process when you shape your repair pieces. Not saying you should include that in these episodes, guess they would end up very long :-) .But I would definitely watch if you made contents dedicated to the shaping of some repair pieces.
Welcome back, been missing ya 😂
Haha been flat out on other projects trying to get rid of a few cars
Maybe you could get one of those 3 phase converters? My good spot welder was a complete game changer!
You could clamp a flat bar to the roller and then use multiple clamps to the door skin.
super👍👍
Thank you 👍
wow ur good
I really enjoy seeing you rebuild that car, you have great skills. What weld through primer do you use?
Were you tempted to make drain systems for the vents rather than leave it stock?
Great work, what gauge sheet metal do you use?
Hey fella how many amps do you run on the tig for sheet metal cheers mate
Its all Personal preferences but for 0.95 sheet I run it at 36 amps and use mig wire as filler.
Whether that's the right or wrong way to do it I dunno 😅
Hey, got a question- what if i wanted to ask you to fit/ install a. Rotary pp into a supra 80’s model. ? Would you be interested in? No rush. I am in japan, but the car is in warrick. Queensland. Brizzy
My supra is lacking fun. Would you be interested in helping me make it my dream car bud ?
No rush on that, i can work with your time schedule but it will need to be roadworthy in japan/ we can talk about the details later. Like i said i want to use your services- promote on youtube etc. Please lets talk.
Oh i dont think my supra needs any rust repair but i dont think low standards has the time too do this
