- [UPDATE] I made the official (!!!) '13 Seattle Tough Mudder video: • Mudder Vision | Seattl... Filmed entirely from a unique, POV perspective.
This video: Surprised we finished in the top 5%, nation-wide! And yes that's THE Bear Grylls! Here's our Warrior Dash race: • RUNNING the Warrior Da... / For the Tough Mudder, we ran on Sat, 1st wave (8am). It's 11-12 miles + ~28 obstacles, including getting shocked & fully submerged in ice baths.
I was surprised at the archaic nature of the electrified wires... they just had two car batteries hooked up to dangling tentacles that you had to run through.
What I wore if you're curious... It worked quite well, so I drew up a sketch for fellow Tough Mudders:

Awesome music here (free download too!): www.jamendo.com... / Attribution 3.0 Unported (CC BY 3.0)
Last yr when i went...there was a guy climbing over each porta potty, and when they told him to get down... he yelled "wait!! This isnt an obstacle?!?!"
Aaron Martin 😂😂😂
Aaron Martin 😂😂😂😂😂
certified mad lad
I have pulmonary hypertension, basically a heart condition that prevents me from doing almost anything without puffing out.. Watching this video, don't know why but I nearly cried, actually I was tearing up.. These videos make me wish that there will be a cure for my disease cause that video was epic, and meeting those people would be a great experience. People view things differently, I hope that if you can run, RUN! If you can jump, JUMP! Don't take life for granted, grab it by the balls cause I would love to have an opportunity to participate without feeling so limited to my health. Great video. :')
I am sorry to hear about your condition. People without any disorder should learn how good they have it and get off their lazy bums and get out and do something, because a lot of people can't, and they would love to.
Thanks man.. :) Thanks to all people who liked my comment. Means a lot.
Frozen
Frozen? lol what does that mean.
Im a doctor and im sorry for the condition u have but me and my friends have studied a lot of the cardiac and we hope that someday we will find the cure
Bear Grylls is at 3:22
and at 4:50
That man made my childhood
Probably one of the most well funded/wealthy mud courses ive ever seen.
Must have been pretty friggin amazing to have Bear Grylls cheering you on. Hell yeah. Doing my first mudder this saturday. Thanks for this upload.
robsreality did u do it yet
Did you LOVE it?!!! I've done 5 so far :)
A mudder seems a hell of a lot better than a rave! shit people just want to party, but I want an ADVENTURE!!!
Gabriel G fun people want to party, some others do mud runs
Sebastian Lea it depends on opinion I guess
One of the better edited TM GoPro video's on youtube! I loved it, very inspirational. I'm training for my first Mudder in March of next year, can't wait!
Yes, Early morning Sunday, March 30th. I started training mid November. I've got a long way to go, but I will succeed! Stay positive and be strong my friend!
*****
How did you like the mudder last Sunday? Man, it was a blast with my team!! Now I want to do another one!
Thanks for posting! I volunteered this year and will be running it with my buddy next year. I'm super excited. I loved getting to help everyone and cheer them on. What a blast.
Well that's odd, watching a video about tough mudder and there's an add for tough mudder
Whoever filmed this was a beast. Handled all the obstacles like they were nothing
im pretty unfit but id love to give this a go
Guys, awesome approach to what many others would simply cry at!
Job well done! Super entertaining!
Psychology of human mind is so complex...............first it wants to remove all the obstacles from its way and when it gets bored by it, the mind wants all again, hence mudder race and all.
True
wow, wouldn't have thought that a 10 minute long video could be that entertaining. Great job on the editing and, of course, congrats for finishing in Top20!
That looks like FUN
So much fun to watch! Doing my first TM next month so this was great! Thx for sharing:) the electric wires at the end with the caption cracked me up!!
Doing this in August LETS GOO I AM SO PUMPED FOR IT!
Same, going with a friend from college. Hope you smash it
Julian Diaz How did it go man ?
Do it, Erica! I did my first one in Toronto this year with my team and it is truly one of the best things I have ever done.
That moment when you fist pumped Bear Grylls
This looks so amazing it defiantly looks like fun but man would it be hell as well the community looks so friendly too!
Wow, that looks like so much fun!
I'm a sporty 15 year old, too bad. But i'm curious what's this - 08:56 ?
At 8:56 that's the "Electro Shock Therapy." (essentially live wires hooked up to car batteries)
All the best,
-Beau Ch.
Fuck me getting shocked by them feels like being roundhouse kicked in the chest/face/wherever you are unlucky enough to be shocked. The pool at 3:13 is called the electric eel, and it is essentially the same thing only you are lying in water when the wires shock you. it sucks.
It's alllll psychological mate (which the Tough Mudder excels at creating obstacles that trouble the mind, like the ice bath or jumping 15ft into water). There are a lot of things that physically hurt more than a zap or a pop, but I'd warrant the hardest part of the obstacles that shock you is the psychological hurdle... "Wait, I'm willing going to run through WHAT?" But once it's done, you think, "Huh. I've had pimples hurt worse than that." (not to say it's still the most pleasant thing in the world, but I think you get where I'm coming from)
All the best,
-Beau Ch.
BeauCh
ive seen some of the courses actually have people with hoses spraying you as you run through, lol.
Iiiiisn't that just sweet of them?
If you finished the 2011 GA course in that time, you went full beast mode. The 2012 and 2013 here were tame compared to the first one. Still, 1:49 is seriously GETTING AFTER IT. Well done, sir!
3:21 for Bear Grylls. You're welcome.
I'm so excited to run the Tough Mudder this year!!!!!! Thanks for the preview of the obstacles!!!
Woo hoo "one of those Christians" I am too and I did my first Tough Mudder last year and I was praying the whole way up there, just to be protected from any serious injury and things like that and right before going to the warm up zone saw a guy with a shirt that said "I am Jesus Strong" it was just so awesome. And Tough Mudder was the best thing I have ever done!
PMcFarland some christians are smart, some rely on god for protection and it's really pathetic
+Lich Bane lol
lol lich bane
Danny
Well...I'm a 5x Tough Mudder and a Tougher Mudder so I can't be THAT pathetic...
I met Bear a while ago at a scout thing it was so cool. He parachuted from a plane and landed in the field in front of us. Such a cool guy 👍
I'm really excited for this but I need to know how bad the shocks are from the electric eel... Like, could I get a heart attack or something? Haha
The shock is mostly psychological. It's totally doable! Just keep running!
All the best,
-Beau Ch.
BeauCh Cheers :)
***** i took a piss before hand.. was not taking any chances ha!
wongabingbong kong Hahaha, good plan!
it was... i only shat myself after!
Hands down the best 1st person Mudder Video! Running this Saturday in SC! Awesome job man!!!
I wore gloves this past February in GA Mudder, and took them off half way through. Plan to go hand naked this time!
Again, great job man!!!
I thought bear would actually do it not just watch.
Great video, only recently heard of tough mudder myself, so nice to see videos about it. Look forward to seeing another if you do it again this year.
what kind of gloves are those? not brand, style i guess?
Garden Gloves.... You can get them at Home Depot
that's really all? ell thanks man!
would be better to use mechanix gloves though
roger. thanks
Make sure they have good grip, you could also cut the fingertips off of your tips are strong (like if you rock climb)
Awesome Video. My team and I will be taking part in our first Tough Mudder this weekend so it is great to see a pretty detailed video of one. Thanks for sharing!
when it comes to the ice bath chuck Norris thinks its to warm
I loved watching this. Thanks for posting. It looked like you guys had fun and pushed yourselves at the same time.
I love Bear Grylls
me too
I have signed up for the ratrace dirty weekender in the uk. 9th may 2015. Its 20miles with 200 obstacles, can't wait for it now after watching these sort of vids.
I wanna go.
Im so glad they had walk the plank as one of the earlier obstacles this year, having it near the end seems dangerous with all the people cramping up towards the end of the course.
All that crap and you don't even get a beer.
Thats exactly what I was thinking!
In the UK ones you get a free drink at the end. Last year was ginger beer, this year was a cider (well it was in the South-West one).
+TheCondemnedPeanut Always cider in the West Country!!!
It seems to be the law lol.
+curt i think they're considering making it law that you must drink 1 cider a day in the West country or face a fine.
***** They should make it law.......can't beat a nice bit of proper scrumpy on a trip down to Cornwall :D
Makes me wanna do tough mudder, looks like a lot of fun :) You guys rock !
wow it looks like you had a BLAST! And meeting Bear must have been a huge highlight! That man is amazing :) GREAT run, too - I'm super impressed!
I did the Tough Mudder in Charlotte, NC last weekend. One of the toughest things I have ever done. Had a blast, and can't wait to do it again next year. Not sure how they managed to put in twice as much uphill running as downhill. Your video is fantastic; it does a great job of bringing out the combination of team and individual effort. And to see Bear Grylls? Icing on the cake!
This was AWESOME! I've done a Tough Mudder before, but I will be doing one again this year with a GoPro3 White. What setting did you have it on as far as resolution?
This is really cool. I know some people who did the UK one back in Nov' 2012. I loved watching this and could watch it again. Your bloody brilliant by the way! :)
Wow. The guts, the glory, the camaraderie. I must experience this!
Hi there, thank you for the nice comment,
No, I will not be attending the WTM, primarily because I haven't run the TM this year. I have some other adventures planned, mainly running the Wonderland Trail in 3 days (usually takes folks between 9 and 14 days to complete!). Some friends and I plan on filming the wackiness along the way.
Are you doing the WTM?
All the best,
-Beau Ch.
Superb video well edited and a good soundtrack! Also a huge fan of events like this where its about finishing and having a good time!
This is the first time that I've watched a 10 + minute video in a while. Good work.
Haha! Awesome! I'm doing the Warrior Dash in September and I can't wait! Someday I'll be fit enough to do the tough mudder, but not this yr.
I have two Mudders under my belt in 2012 and you captured the event very well. Georgia and Carolinas
Running this on Saturday here in the Seattle area. Super pumped!
Great video btw!! Great editing, kept me interested the entire time and solid job on completing the course!!
I just signed up for this years Toygh Mudder Seattle and started training today. I have weight to lose and muscle to build! I have one team member so far and she will register Friday. We are looking for team member and definitely need some guys.
Thanks for making this! Perfect way to show my friends and fam what I did last weekend.
awesome vid! ran this in the 8:20 wave, loved it, watching this video pumps me up so much for this year, thanks!!
Just solid looking fun and you met Bear that is awesome!
Id jump on a bunch of jelly fish if bear grylls is cheering me on . Looks awesome
Thanks for this video man! I'm doing Chicago and watching this has me hyped to do any and all of this.
Nice editing man, I want to do it next year. Also after watching this I have a lot of work to do, you made it look easy.
I love how you were helping the other people as well
That was awesome well done man! You made all of the tasks look dead easy haha
dude .. sport means life !
u made me realize this
and for that
i thank you
Great video! It's so cool that Bear was at your event. The 2012 Tri-State had way too many people, but it was fun. I used a GoPro as well.
Thanks.. Great video! Going Saturday in Snowmass, CO for my first.. psyched, excited and wondering WTF the electric shock is gong to be like.
im doing this in the northwest of england in september..this videos made me so exited +terrified at the same time . good luck to me :)
Awesome. I'm doing Tough Mudder again in December and then a third one in February
All I have to say is holy crap. I pulled a hamstring watching this race.
Great vid man, I always enjoy watching POV
Great editing.. kept me watching the entire 10 mins. Awesome job.
Oops, I think I got the "Running the Warrior Dash" music mixed up with this one. I'm fairly certain that one is Professor Kliq's music. This one has credits at about 9:35 with the appropriate artist. Sorry! I'll update the description!
Thanks for the heads up, and sorry for sending you on a wild goose chase. :(
-Beau Ch.
You're fine man. Just do it. You'll love it, and it's not as hard as you think. Just get your mind right and have fun. Your fellow mudders will get you through it when you need them. I've done 3 of them here in GA.
Nice vid mate! Did my first TM in the UK this year, was amazing can't wait for next year!!
I just finished the Tough Mudder in Georgia today, you made those Berlin walls look easy! They were killer!
Excellent video! I started with you guys and you got some video of me too, I was in the orange shirt and blue shorts just ahead of you all. Congratulations, and again, EXCELLENT video!!
It's not all about having the fastest time, it's about being there to help out your teammates, kinda like the military leave no man behind !!!!!
THAT IS FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!! SHOULD DO IT AGAIN THIS YEAR
Hey quick questions for you, did you keep your GoPro on the entire time or did you turn it on an off as you go to obstacles? Also did you have a head mount or chest mount? Thank you
Signed up for next year at Boston! I'm gonna start training hard all winter. I seriously need to work on my running..
This way actually fun to watch, nice job Beau!
Great video mate, I am running my first Mudder in May, can't wait!
there is no way i could complete this right now, but id love too. im going to look in to it and get fit!
Seal Team 6 training/Parkour/Athletes all rolled into one? Badasses!!!
It's any seal team training, and training to be a seal a lot more intense than this.
This is the cleanest Tough Mudder course I've seen.. When I did mine you were lucky if you finished with one shoe one let alone both the mud was that bad. Still epic though
Indeed, the courses are usually a lot filthier, however we were in the first wave here so the course was barely touched. (we could actually crawl up the slopes... within an hour the slopes were a solid piece of slippery mud!)
All the best,
-Beau Ch
Those little yellow wires are hooked up to car batteries. It doesn't *necessarily* hurt, but what makes it annoying is that they sort of 'shut down' your body when zapped. It's unbelievably frustrating trying to run when your body decides it's going to lay down in mud.
Just keep running (FULL SPEED), don't join hands with other people, and keep in mind that the psychological hurdle of this is much harder to overcome than the physical.
All the best,
-Beau Ch.
DUDE! Bear was there. I wish I saw him. Came late and started at 920. It was awesome fun and difficult.
One of my best friends and I are going to do this when we are older :D Cant wait!!!!!
Oh the memories, remind my tough mudder torture, great job looks great!
Oh my days that's immense. Can't wait for mine in August!
This is fierce. I've read some of Bear Grylls books and have been inspired to "dig deep", this video is super motivating as well. Its clear you're Christian and we know with great and intimate familiarity what it is to dig deep when we have nothing else. To draw from the strength of God when EVERYTHING else has tapped out and shutting down. I watch this video before I do my cardio workouts to get me pumped! Once again: AMAZING! (even for those who aren't training for the Tough Mudder.) ROCK on!
Doing this in CO in June. I'm in for one hell of a ride. Good video!
Well done! Great motivation for my upcoming Tough Mudder :)
Right on! Rock it bro!
Wow, the Wonderland Trail sounds intense, I'm definitely looking forward to seeing that video haha. I'm not doing the WTM or even considering it at this stage as I only just recovered from an ankle injury from basketball. I'll hopefully be attempting Tough Mudder/WTM in 1-2 years time instead!
Did you undergo any sort of training regime or anything similar prior to the Tough Mudder? I haven't browsed most of your videos yet, so I'm sorry if you already made a video about this.
Damn, that looks like a LOT of fun! I'd pay to do this! Well done, guys! :)
Great video!!!... im looking forward to run my first tough mudder next july in Whistler, Canada...I cant wait
Excited to to do this next week!!!
I want to do a tough mudder so badly! and it was cool when you were jumping up the wall in slowmo :) great job
I think I would have been so excited to see Bear that I wouldn't have been able to start the race on time!
wow you guys are tough mudders I couldn't of done any of the high obstacles or the crossing the holes maybe the rest who knows well done all of you guys and seeing bear would of been very special indeed
Hey, Great Vid!! We've got our Tough Mudder here in the UK in September and this just made me wish I'd signed up for the summer one too!! I just wanted to ask about your camera (I've got the GPHero3 and was gunna take it along) - did you have it on a headband mount or something? And did you film constantly, or just when it came to the obstacles? Also spare batteries? (Sorry for the barrage!)
Awesome video. Great Job on the course. My team ran at 10:40. Had no idea Bear was there.
