Thanks for all your comments guys. I think it's a great example of why I titled this video how I AM choosing to dress in my 30s. Personal style is SO personal, and that's what makes it fun.

Just read the comments and I disagree with most of you 😂 I love this gilet with the bows! It’s fun, not everything needs to be « flattering » (aka shrink our body)! It would bring me so much joy if i saw someone on the street wearing that gilet 🎉

But nowadays, it looks like a lot of women are deliberately choosing unflattering clothes to wear, not just in terms of shape, but also colour, and personally, I find it depressing.
It's as though these women completely lost their sense of how to put together an outfit during the pandemic and now they're too stressed/overwhelmed by life to bother with anything that's less comfy than pyjamas. Choosing clothes that flatter their colouring doesn't even occur to them.
I can understand wanting to be comfortable and practical, but looking like a bum who has just rolled out of bed (as many of them do) is taking the 'casual' vibe too far IMO.
Walk through a college campus nowadays, and it's miserable - it's as though the students have never learnt to take pride in their appearance - pretty sad😢
Can I say that not everything that we put on our bodies NEEDS to be “flattering”? Recently I’ve come to the realization that all this “flattering” “body types” rules are just another way to tell everyone what they need to be. I can obviously see the “benefit” of using something that is highlighting my figure… but the video is clearly saying that lily is “choosing” to dress as she wants! So nothing about “dressing myself the most flattering way”! In my case for example, at work (I’m an environmental lawyer) I chose to dress in a more conservative and boxy way specifically to not be the center of the attention (my boobs more than me 😅) and yes… this type of dressing is not flattering because is not figure hugging and is not making me look taller! And so what? I don’t know… I just want to say please don’t feel obligated to dress always flattering! ❤😊

I would personally bring the gilet to a dressmakers and get the bows removed and put poppers in instead like you said - the bows defo take away from the ‘coolness’ of the gilet if that makes sense x
Nice black ribbons would also work. Same effect but lighter look.
I agree that a dressmaker/tailor/seamstress could very easily remove the bows!

My current electric toothbrush has been driving me CRAZY with how messy it is on the charging pad no matter how well I rinse it, so I purchased this one IMMEDIATELY.

I'm in exactly the same boat but 37 with a three year old and six months old ,sort of lost confidence but also want to try more exciting clothing pieces for the first time ever because why not. I like that you are trying different things but without taking it too seriously and keeping practicalities in mind ,it's what we need to see ,I love loads of other fashion content creators but cannot relate the same way,you're a great mix ,keep it up!!! I like that you're showing things that both do work and don't work when it comes to your outfits xx

If you want the straps out of the way, maybe try pinning them inside the gilet with safety pins? If you really enjoy wearing it as more of a waistcoat, you could sew little "belt loops" inside for you to keep them out of the way. Lovely to see you playing with colours and patterns in your wardrobe 😊

The gilet worked best, in my opinion, when you styled it with something bigger or puffier underneath 😊 Like the Arket shirt/blouse! I think outfit would look even better with a chunky sneaker or heels/boots 😊 Having the gilet be the "tight/slim" part of the outfit works really well!😊

I personally don’t love the gilet on me, but I absolutely love it on other people! It was so fun to watch you style it, my favorite was with the blue top underneath - such a contrast of a soft feminine top and the gilet being more out there with the print! Absolutely loved it!!!

Love Leopard print Lilly and good for you for trying something new. It’s not your everyday run of the mill item that everyone will want and that’s ok. As long as you like it that all that really matters. People can be constructive/helpful with their comments - but never rude.
If you know someone that maybe able to see in some poppers to the waistcoat (In my case that would be my mum for my alterations lol)

I totally agree that having only basics in your wardrobe can be a bit boring and make outfits look unfinished. I would say that maybe a funky gilet isn’t the best piece to start with when adding more « special » non basic pieces. I would personally start with something more practical like trousers or a top with something interesting so I can ease into it and make sure I get more use out of it. Lots of love from an all timer follower. Xx 😘

Don't mind the comments about it being flattering or not. Wearing fun clothing that makes you happy is much more important. Love it with the white tee and jeans. Also cool with the dungarees, although i have doubts about toilet visits :D

The waistcoat looks incredible over the Arket blouse. Think the gucci loafers look lovely with it - I don't personally think it needs the chunky kind. Also, just a thought, you could safety pin the ties inside the waistcoat, to look like it doesn't have any. Happy Easter!

Hi Lily. This was perfect timing. I had just sent my toothbrush back to Boots as the battery as stopped charging so am in the market for a new one. This brush looks great and affordable. The dungaries outfit is my favourite. Sadly, I've put on weight over the past winter and am still trying to get back to my pre-winter weight and back into my clothes. I've decided not to buy anything to accommodate my new size though.

Loved the gilet. I bought a toothbrush something very similar which was promoted by the vlogger Lucy Wood ablut 5 or more year ago and is still gling strong. Peacocks on line have long t.shirt material long skirts i ve just ordered myslf 1 this morning. You could wear ultra mini ugg boots or your ugg shoe type footwear with your jeans and gilet which would be comfy casual. Xx Happy easter .
P.s. remove the bows from the gilet also as it would make it more versatile.😊

I love the vest/gilet except the bows on it. It throws everything off. I'd see about having them removed. I think it would be so much cuter.

Only my view wear the gelet open forget the ties. And where with all black or all white underneath. Don’t try to don’t try to many contrasting colours underneath lots of love x
I really like the idea of the gilet but the bows are too fussy for my taste (except in the jeans and white tee outfit). I wonder if you could get someone to remove the ties and then find a way to attach them from the inside for the outfits when you want them but then you can remove them when you don't. I feel that, for me, that would make the piece more versatile. Fx
On screen the gilet looks like you're wearing a back to front open back top think it would look better with no ties, more waistcoatey
Your gilet outfits are fun! But I feel like the ties were made with too much fabric, so the bows feel a bit bulky and distract from your outfit. Maybe have them made thinner ? But either way, your outfit ideas are cool!
My electric toothbrush just broke after watching this 😂. I took it apart to try and fix it and it was DISGUSTING inside.
