Homer seems quite intimidated at first when they confront him but then he pokes the guy in the chest and calls him a "moron". Got his courage up quickly.
"Good news everyone...I got in a fight with the garbage man and their cutting off our service" 😂I love how Homer thinks that's good news while wearing the garbage!😂
LOL I noticed that only know but it's so true! Knowing Ned, he probably also sprayed perfume to eliminate the smell! My mother does something similar, I mean not the perfume thing of course but she always make sure that the trash bin are cleaned after they have been emptied. One morning she was out while the garbage men were passing and they even stopped to congratulate her about having the most clean trash bin in the whole city!
Actually there is another "Uh-oh" like this one. When Homer taunts Flanders at pee wee football game and then Flanders, to Homer's surprise, makes his way into the stands to confront Homer.Just FYI.
It's funny how the garbagemen took not the slightest notice of Homer when he was shouting for them to stop, but then they just automatically stop and back up after Homer insults them.
Thought I would be in a situation like this just this morning (which is why I instantly came to this clip after). Forgot to put out the trash (rubbish bin here in England) & the men drove past. Was prepared to run up the road with the bin, but the men saw me & indicated me to wait as they would be coming back down the street again. I thought they'd either a) just go straight past my house again, laughing as they went by or b) give me a telling off for not putting it out on time. But they came back down & took it & were actually really nice about it.
This happened to my next door neighbour, but due to the fact that she always overflows the bins and treats the street as a garbage dump, always dumping garbage all over the place, meaning that they have to clean up after her whenever someone reports her to the council. She forgot to take the garbage bins out and took them out just after the garbos passed her house. They ignored her as she chased them down the street. It reminded me of this clip (Australia)
Lisa: "It's full, Dad. That means you have to take out the trash." Bart. "Yep. That's the rule. He who tops it off, drops it off." Homer: "Uh-uh. It isn't filled until it's spilled."
Homer’s laziness literally destroyed the town and the environment with it causing everyone to move. Which also became the reason nobody knows where Springfield is.
Homer (mutters to himself while taking out the trash): "Stupid trash. Rotten, stinking hate world! Revenge soon. Take out on everyone!" (notices that the trash is leaking all over his slipper) "GASP!!! GARBAGE WATER!!!" (squeezes the garbage water out of his slipper, then shouts) "You're pushing me, baby!" (The garbage truck passes by and stops in front of Ned Flanders' house next door. The garbageman riding on the back hops off, picks up a perfectly cube-shaped trash bag on the curb in front of Ned's house, easily chucks it into the back of the truck, and hops back on). Homer (sees the garbage truck, chases after it with his full garbage can, shouts): "Hey! Wait! Stop! I have garbage!" (Homer chases the garbage truck a few houses down, trying to catch up with it, but to no avail. Finally he loses it). Homer (drops the garbage can, groans, shouts): "YOU GUYS ARE THE LOUSIEST GARBAGEMEN EVER! YEAH, I'M TALKING TO YOU! YOU TRASH EATING STINK BAGS!!!" (The garbage truck comes to a sudden stop in the distance). Homer (realizes that his goose is cooked): "Uh-oh." (The garbage truck backs up towards Homer, back-up lights beeping. Two garbagemen get out and glare at Homer). Garbageman 1 (sternly): "What did you call us?" Homer (stutters nervously): "I don't know. A lot of people are yelling stuff." Garbageman 1: "Yeah, you called us trash eating stink bags!" Garbageman 2: "Didn't you learn anything from Love Day?" Homer (retorts): "That was yesterday, moron!"
There's so much funny going on in such a short amount of time. From the banana peel still stapled (taped? I don't remember; it's been a while since I watched this episode) to the garbage can to the neologism, "garbage-water" to the idea that Homer's slipper is so saturated with "garbage water" that he can actually wring it (which makes you think how long must that stuff have been dripping onto his foot?) to his exclamation, "you're pushing it, BABY!" to his naivete for thinking that the garbage men would be enticed to stop what they're doing simply because, "wait! I have garbage!"
Yeah, we have 5 cans overflowing with garbage every week and if I don't get all the garbage to the curb the garbage men won't wait for me because I told them I have lots of garbage for them
This happened to my next door neighbour, but due to the fact that she always overflows the bins and treats the street as a garbage dump, always dumping garbage all over the place, meaning that they have to clean up after her whenever someone reports her to the council. She forgot to take the garbage bins out and took them out just after the garbos passed her house. They ignored her as she chased them down the street. It reminded me of this clip (Australia)
I think this episode, "Trash of the Titans", inspired a plot in the Malcolm in the Middle episode, "Standee". - A garbage man/men have friction with a family member/members, as they're collecting the family's garbage i.e. the conversation with Hal and the conversation with Homer, and then are outright insulted by a family member i.e. Homer and Reese. - The insult causes a fight to begin between the two entities in general. - The figurehead for the fight is the father, as Homer deliberately insults the garbage men and the men retaliate by stuffing Homer full of garbage, and Hal attempts to put a large monument his garbage man won't collect, at his home, which then spurs on the garbage man to retaliate by dumping garbage on Hal's front yard. - The family's front yard is full of garbage i.e. due to the garbage men refusing to collect Homer's garbage, and the dumping of garbage regarding the garbage man's retaliation at Hal. - A continual battle ensues as Homer refuses to apologise to the garbage men despite his front yard garbage situation, and Hal and Reese steal their garbage man's garbage truck in retaliation for their front yard garbage situation, to get the garbage off their front yard. - Ultimately, to maintain stability and normalcy, a family member apologises to the garbage men/man somehow i.e. Marge writes a letter to the Sanitation Commissioner, and Hal gives the garbage man cooked dinners in exchange for garbage being taken off his front yard, day by day.
I'm one hundred percent with Homer on this one. All those guys had to do was stop the truck for a second and let him throw his giant mound of trash away. As opposed to ignoring him and making him run down the middle of the fuckin road, only to turn around and assault him for calling them out for acting Ike the assholes that they were. Insult to injury that they could no doubt audibly hear him the whole time, and only gave a shit when he personally insulted them.
I cannot wait until the day I have to run towards the garbage man while pushing my rolling trash can, and then yell “HEY, WAIT! STOP! I HAVE GARBAGE!!!!

I think they didn't notice him at first and they noticed him just as Homer insulted them. I think I am right since look at the guy turn his head as the truck is leaving.
That might as well be Homer Simpson's epic heel turn because he never recovers his positive traits from the classic David Mirkin era of the older seasons after 1998. Bart Star was the start of the buildup to Homer's heel turn, Trash of the Titans transformed Homer from good to evil, and Kidney Trouble just helped cement Homer as the biggest jackass from hell living on Earth since most of the hate that came Homer's way really started at Kidney Trouble even though Bart Star and Trash Of The Titans started it all.
