It was absolutely the funniest thing I’ve heard Ian crack off. That was hilarious. Perfect delivery, perfect timing. You know it’s a good one when you belly laugh after you say it. 👍

Every time I watch one of your videos, I’m awe struck at the sheer quality and authority of your content. There’s knowing your stuff, and then there’s TXG. Thank you!
The combination of you pair just makes for effortless high-quality content. Ian with the meticulous knowledge and Matty with the skill to adapt effortlessly. Amazing video guys.
I could watch Matt hit shots forever. May as well be a mechanical swing designed for test. What a pleasure to watch. Well done on all your videos gents.
Thanks boys. Could you look into doing a video on how you increased your speeds? Watching Matt improve his distances over the last few years has been inspiring. Maybe a quick summary of what you feel are the Minimun Effective Dose tricks to get club speed up can help some of us find a 200yd 6i too.
Matty is my inspiration. I'm a lefty with a 108-113 driver swing speed on trackman but I have no idea where it's going at times. I love that slow transition.
I am interested to know how long Bryson's driver is. I found that if I add 2" to my standard shaft I picked up basically 5 mph (swing speed). My thought is that perhaps this would even be easier to control than all the body changes that he made. Would be interesting to test the distance increases and standard deviation of misses comparing swinging harder (with a greater AOA) vs a simple equipment change
At the end you guys talk about learning speed. Would love to see some videos about that and how to progress into it so we don't wreck ourselves while trying to go faster. You guys produce great videos with really valuable content, thanks for doing it!
10:30 so true when you think about your actual disperstion. i think that misconception comes from how some people try to swing faster with just their arms and torso. i was actually able to straighten up my drive when i started using my front leg more. also miss yah matt
Love watching this man swing a golf club. Mattie boy swinging driver at his normal speed looks so effortless and efficient (irons as well for that matter). Can’t believe the swing transformation from when we first saw him on the channel. Great as always guys. A wee smile appears on my face when I get an alert a new video has arrived from the TXG lads.😀😀
Great video Gents! Matt, if you stop hovering the club behind the ball at address, and instead keep the club head lower to the ground at the start, you will naturally bring your strike point above the centerline of the club face, also known as a "Knuckleball". Your smash factor will max out and your spin will drop to 2/10 of stuff all... I would love to see Matt work to a long drive goal. Might have another Jamie Sadlowski on our hands... Keep up the great work, I have enjoyed every single video you guys have made so far!
This is great. And what you’re saying is exactly what Steve Buzza found doing his biomechanics phd. It’s so worth you two giving him a call to discuss some details about it. He found that when golfers try and hit further, like really try and hit it further, they hit it further and straighter. Which is exactly what you’re talking about 👌🏻
I'd love to see Larry back on the channel to show us some drills to work on delivering less loft while hitting up. The last video with Tyler was a huge hit, I'm sure this one would be popular too.
I bought a used M5 driver for around $240 usd. I decided to get a 10.5 when I was in a 9.5 RBZ 2 lofted all the way down. This video made me think that I should have gotten a 9* lol. We live and learn. Loving your content, been subscribed since the beginning. ❤️
Still fairly sure Matt is a robot. That last drive is just straight out of a video game. Loving your videos lately, fellas. I am excited for what the future holds for you guys, because you produce really solid fundamental content. Brilliant.
Excellent video Went out yesterday tried a variation of combining Mo Norman and Bryson single plane started hitting middle of M2 D Type driver that I was going to replace as couldn't find the middle hit 240 into wind with a haar surrounding us followed with a 3 wood off the deck 215 yards (normally top the hell out of that club) to leave me 30 yard short of green on a par 5. 60 year's old still love it when this happens.
“Overspeed is a skill, not a talent. It is attainable to all of us.”, so true! Talent is having the commitment and determination to go through a prolonged speed training cycle. So most is mental. I gained 24 mph clubhead speed in 3 years. It is hard, you will feel soar, you will be laughed at on the range. Until you suddenly bomb it past everyone and win championships. Than suddenly everyone starts buying speed sticks too. I should have been promoting them on a commission.
Hello Matt. Thanks for being LH for us LH golfers. Any chance you can make it in the Show? I will be watching more to help my swing. At 63 I may have a few more years in my golf Game with watching you now. Greg of Ohio
Holy.... I can't imagine what that is going to do to my back when I try it, maybe best to leave it to TXG, that's got to hurt after a round of 18!! Thx for sharing guys...very, very interesting.
A thing I learned from one of tigers old videos is that his dad always told him to swing as hard as he can as long as he can stay balanced and I think that's the keypoint of Bryson right now!
It's one of those things where the first two tournaments back that he's playing in aren't courses he can really unleash the full potential of his drives too. It's kind of crazy to think about it though. Averaged 345 off the tee at Colonial but only really had a few holes where he could really unleash the driver and Harbour Town is so narrow so we won't see him fully unleashing the driver this week either.
Great video! Bryson is absolutely maximizing his effort and it will be interesting to see if he continue to add speed at the same rate he has. Definitely something great for people to understand how to hit the ball farther!
Super demo and explanation of what BD is doing and how, not counting the fact that Matty has been able to replicate it! Bugger it, I’m off out to smash it Saturday!! Who knows!!! 👍
Great video, wish I had access to a launch monitor to play around with to get the numbers, however will be off to the driving range to see what happens.
Great point you guys make here about missing the fairway with a "going for it" swing. I'm going to start keeping a record of fairways hit with an 80% swing versus, say, a 95% swing. The difference probably isn't as big as one might think... In my case both are single digit percentages 😐
When I'm downwind on a wide open par 5, I hit it my best when I hit about 15-16 launch hitting up 4-5* with 1800 spin. Can get speed around 150 and roll it out around 300 or a little more. But if it's tight I'm hitting up around 1-2 hitting around 12-13 around 22-2300 and generally carry it 255 rolling out to about 275-280. I wish I had the confidence to hit that first shot every time like Bryson.
That was awesome! I think I realized from last year to this year was I haven't been using enough tilt at address. I realized my distance has been down and that might be the culprit. Thanks for your info as always.
I have been watching Kyle Berkshire youtube channel of him playing round of golf. He still hits like a maniac carrying 340 to 360 yards and being much more accurate than what you would have thought. He did one video about shafts and why in long drive comps they spray the ball all over the place. I would love to see what Matt could do with a long drive setup.
Guys, about 6 or 7 years ago I was in Palm Springs and I went to do a driver fitting at a Nakashima location. John Nakashima has done the math years ago about maxing driver distance and all of his calculations were on the wall. I don’t remember the exact numbers, but it was something near achieving the combination of launch and attack angle equaling 16 or 17 together. Hearing you all say something similar reminds me how John was ahead of the game! Also, remember “17 launch and 17” spin suggested when SLDR launched?
I felt like the launch of my m6 was to high so 2 weeks ago I dropped my 9 degree m6 down 2 degrees I definitely picked up distance with a penetrating flight I haven’t noticed any control issues
I hit an 8.5deg Ping G20 and wish i could get it down to a 7deg like my old Ping TiSi Tec... I'm just an old (53), short guy (5'4") who hits it on the upswing and depending on the fairway conditions will be anywhere from 260 to 295 with a 70% driving accuracy. If i'm off the fairway, my (45%) GIR really falls off so I rarely try to swing faster as it rarely helps my score. Fun to watch Matty perform like Bryson and hear the explanations which really makes sense but not really practical for average Joe's and weekend warriors looking for more distance.
Guys it was only yesterday I was watching your video about playing a shorter driver for more control and now this. I’m so conflicted.... Who am I kidding, I’m off to buy some 4” tees, crank my G410 down to 7.5, tee that sucker outside my left foot, increase my tilt at address, increase my tilt at impact, all while hitting the middle, maintaining control and not breaking my back😉😂😂
Still waiting on things to settle before I hit my brand new driver and hybrid (bought a few months ago). Meanwhile , I am going to take a mental note on these tips. Always great content, and enjoy the comments on these!
As others have said, you guys are truly amazing. Also as others have said, it would be fantastic if you’d do a video on your methods of over speed training.
When do we get big Al to Canada? Matty boy is ready for him! Ian fits both for max distance and then best of 8 with a 60 yard wide fairway just like a real long drive contest.
I would be curious to know how you "learned speed". I haven't been playing a terribly long time and came from sports where a quick swing is needed (baseball, hockey) and am fairly quick with a club. But that statement intrigued me as to how that is developed in golf
Fantastic as usual guys. Loved it. Amazing drives Matt. I’m happy wit 250!yds at 67 years of age but I always want more!! Lol. Great job. 100 k will soon be here.
There seems to be some correlation between BdeC's swing plane and that of the Single Plane golf swing of Moe Norman, which is now taught extensively by Todd Graves
Well after watching this, it's time to hit the range and do some adjusting to my driver. Pretty consistent at 200-210 in the fairway. Gonna de loft it some and swing hard now. Usually only swing about 80 percent just so I can hit it where I want it to go. Great video guys as always! Stay safe, hit em straight.
I would like to see one of the UA-camrs do a comparison and see if "swinging out of your shoes" really does equate to less accuracy or is that just another golf misnomer? Like if you swing 20 times at 100% and 20 times at 80 I wonder how many fewer fairways you would hit at any and see the yardage differences. If you gain 20 yards at the sacrifice of only 2 or 3 fairways out of 20(or about 1 per round) it may be worth just going all out or building a driver strictly for distance, atleast for the lower handicapper.
Great vid, and love everything on this channel! Quick question from me, why have we not seen more pros do this in the past? A lot of the guys on tour are super fit, if it's a simple case of reducing loft, hitting up on it and hitting harder, why isn't everyone doing it? I guess they all will be now! I imagine all the 2021 drivers will be available in much lower lofts too!
The problem is it gets really hard to hit that far up on the driver and still down and through on the short irons and wedges. I tried this back in the 90s and my coach made me go back to a standard spec driver, I used a Sandvik Tip flex Ti shaft and an ancient even at the time 7° TM head at 46.5", 3 inches over standard. Ball way out in front and teed up on a pencil, I was really long and straight with it but that move trashed everything else. It was nuts though, 280 air up in the sky with a Pro 90 when 280 meant something.
The Cameron Champ comparison is fascinating to me. Cameron and Matty Boy here seem similar physically, and it's interesting that Champ & Bryson have similar ball speed. Bryson is at 1.12 SG off the tee and Cameron is at 1.08. (#2 and #3 on Tour). Admittedly, this is a small sample size after 30 rounds but will 0.03 SG translate into a meaningful advantage? Bryson does have a decided edge in SG on approach (.397 v .146) but many things contribute to that.
Matt's ability to adapt to these experiments and still reliably pound the ball out there is the most impressive thing of all these videos.
So tru brother, Matt is legit
You have to appreciate the humility as well.
*Matty haha
Matt is an android
Iron Matty
Ian: Matty. Lets go from 120 to 128 and drive 365.

Matt's like a damn robot, no matter what Ian tells him to do he just goes out and does it.

😂😂 I agree , and because Matt is LH like me its EXTRA interesting

Matts 2020 bag. Driver, putter and 12 wedges
that could work... some pitching wedges now are as low as 40 degrees😂
I think the craziest thing was how high dechambeau was hitting those drives his apex was like 130+ with a 5.5 head. Great video guys

Love your advice at the end. I agree you can learn speed. So many can't or won't dedicate the time, or are too embarassed to work on it at the range.

I agree about the accuracy when you really go for it. Sometimes I find myself more accurate when I let it rip, and lose accuracy when I slow down
I am interested to know how long Bryson's driver is. I found that if I add 2" to my standard shaft I picked up basically 5 mph (swing speed). It's one of those things where the first two tournaments back that he's playing in aren't courses he can really unleash the full potential of his drives too. Great video boys! I love hitting very high bombs with low spin they fly way further then you are used too!
I don't think Matt's driver is Freaky Deaky, I think Matt is Freaky Deaky. That man can swing a club.
Good gravy Matty boy is a legend
When I'm downwind on a wide open par 5, I hit it my best when I hit about 15-16 launch hitting up 4-5* with 1800 spin. Can get speed around 150 and roll it out around 300 or a little more.

It was nuts though, 280 air up in the sky with a Pro 90 when 280 meant something.
how is every video that these dudes make entertaining and informative the entire time
Wow Matt, that's taken you to another level. Very impressive. Another chALlenge for Alex?
The Cameron Champ comparison is fascinating to me. Cameron and Matty Boy here seem similar physically, and it's interesting that Champ & Bryson have similar ball speed. Bryson is at 1.12 SG off the tee and Cameron is at 1.08. (#2 and #3 on Tour).
Admittedly, this is a small sample size after 30 rounds but will 0.03 SG translate into a meaningful advantage? Bryson does have a decided edge in SG on approach (.397 v .146) but many things contribute to that.
