SKETCHY "Frame Off" Restoration - At Home Body Swap With NO TOOLS
Вставка
- Опубліковано 5 лют 2025
- In the last episode of this left for dead 1957 Chevy hardtop, we fixed up and old crusty frame for the car. Relocating the springs and swapping in a narrowed diff for larger tires.
The Chassis that came with the car was rotten in the rear section and not worth repairing.
So we're in our single car garage, no lift, no crane, no friends but we need the chassis swapped. We used a few floor jacks and 4x4 fence posts to hoist the body up in the air. As long as no one was under the car, it's safe right?
Sketchy but we got it done.

I've been watching this channel from day one. I am not a fan of Daniel, but it's great that she helps you and was very entertaining through out thus video. Great job, Daniel .
Yeah she's a little much sometimes haha
How could anyone not like Daniel, she brings the laughter!
Dani is the sweetest person ever!
I agree, love the channel, wealth of tri 5 information, but her constant giggling gets old
@@dougj.8288that’s part of it. Her laugh makes me stop laughing. I like the banter between them, but there’s a reason comedians don’t laugh at their own jokes.
This guy is a Beast. Love watching him make stuff out of junk.
I do too. He has a heart of gold.
Thanks buddy?
!
@@bad66chevellesI'd would have liked to see how you did that cause badass 66 Chevelles are my favorite
I'd rather watch someone use their ingenuity than their check book to build something.
Hardest working man on THE TUBE!!!
Dan & Dani, your body and frame swap was simply awesome to watch!! You both worked together so well. Nice work!! Cheers!! 😎
Looks like Dani had her “Get Shit Done” boots on!
The main reason DD speed shop is on the map
* 2 door tri five conversion
* Full floor pan replacement
* full rusty chassis swap
WITHOUT a LIFT or ROTISSERIE (sorry Boyd speed shop)
Good thing Dani is there as safety supervisor with mad jacking skills, don't worry Dan it doesn't take that long to recover from a hernia surgery. I do like the color combination on the 57, it keeps growing on me, it would look good with wide tires all the way around like a circle track car.HA!!!
WOW 😲 DAN! Seeing the car as an original two door hardtop, no post, so very awesome! I got goosebumps seeing this awesome car with NO POST, so very cool 😎. Also, thanks for getting a proper floor pan for this, it's really a must purchase for this particular ride. Your doing amazing 😍 🤩 decisions on the rides and builds, way to go! Thanks for the video 📸.
I think this is a great build. please keep mixing in these low budget build. The patina on this one is also amazing. Thanks for all your hard work and entertainment.
I love watching you two work together, what a great team keep it up Boss
Lol, You have a tow truck and a skid loader but you and Danny push the frame down the alley and around the corner to your other shop. I love you guys and your channel, you're the only one I have to watch as soon as it hits UA-cam. Keep up the good work!
Danielle ,your face was priceless when Dan was putting the body under the car. You are right, that is why women live longer.
Always entertaining, and educational. Glad you made the effort to move the frame without the tow truck. Thanks you two!
'57 Belaire has been my favorite body style since I was a teenager in the late '60's to early 70's. Always wanted one in "candy apple red".
Once again you never cease to amaze me the Energy the 2 of you have keep app the good work.
Moving the frame. That’s some funny stuff. And Dani is awesome as well
This was everything i was hoping for and more 🎉🎉🎉🎉 Masterpiece Television 📺 Thank you DD SPEEDSHOP 🙏 😊😊
You did it sketchily ... but you DID it! Good improvisation in your little shop, pal. You are a craftsman of another class, altogether. :)
More Tri 5 debauchery! Love it!
This deserves some new sheetmetal and a fine paint scheme. Can't wait for the finish
Dan, you need to name this car after the dog you helped save! That would be very cool. I love this build. Talk about making something out of nothing. You’re killing it! -Dan
THANKS DAN for swapping out the frame all MANLY style, all grit and muscle 💪, a real man's way! Plus, using your clever brain 🧠 to get the job done.......PRICELESS! Thanks for the video 📸.
I used all the brains I had haha
The struggle was epic! Its good to someone saving these cars, it makes me smile every time.
Dan you should have it sooner than a week even
with transfers. Good work and good luck
Dan your videos brighten up my day. 😂 we all know it’s gonna work 😂
Haha thanks dude!
Absolutely classic DD Speed Shop. "It's a little sketch. Yeah well we're all ready here!" Just can't get enough. I needed to trim my nails anyway.😮
Just a little sketchy haha
You are the SULTAN OF SKETCH! I friggin' love it! I am so doing this!
The scoop is awesome, patina perfect, no on the door outstanding! Enough with your knowledge
It was the 56 wagon that you did the floor pan. Real sketch. Love the content.
The builds have been great lately. Love this one, the yellow 55 and the Nova . Looking forward to Dan's version of a concourse restoration of a Camero.
Hello Dan and Dani
DD Sketchy Shop … love it 👏👏
Dani practices what she preaches! Good for her! Good for you too Dan.
She’s to good for you brother! What a great partner. Excellent episode
You two make a great team. It’s always nice to have a partner that will help. Amazing what you do
Your videos make me feel like I can do this shit too. It helps me not give up on my truck. I recently got the transmission out to do clutch and many other things while it’s out. Never done that kinda thing b4 but it’s actually going ok. Thanks you guys. Love your channel. Mad max ain’t got nothin on you. 😂👍
This video gave me a good laugh. You can tell these guys were having fun and not stressing out over it. A case of "if shits gonna happen, its gonna happen. What are ya gonna do ?"
"Way she goes" haha we like to have a good time
I’m really enjoying this build keep up the great work Dan an be a little more gentle on Dani while she’s helping bring us this great footage.
I am definitely going to add a winch to my garage once I get through the next project. lol Genius idea.
It's super handy
You are my Great educator, I have learned more from your videos than any where else on you tube A+++++++ videos
Like u learned what not to do? Ha
Every time I look at it there is something else wrong that I didn’t know. Priceless humor. It is actually fairly solid but rough as can be.
Amazing what you can do with the space you have this one is going to be a masterpiece
Love did speed shop , check every day for the next episode makes my day !!
Once in a generation a man is born. He has a capacity for forward thinking and problem solving like Noone else in his field. Let's call Dan what he is , an automotive genius. This video is proof. It should be part of the tour of the future DD speed shop museum.
Haha I just bull forward untill it's done or I screw it up real bad
Hi Dan .. Years ago I bought at Harbor Freight a hoist .. added Timbers to my ceiling and had an instant and strong overhead hoist . The Timbers were 2 by 10s by 8 ft long and used 5 of them and opposite the rafters in the ceiling of the garage .. just lay them in … cut a hole in ceiling and let the chain for the hoist come through .. the hoist will come in handy for lots of projects. Use straps and a frame work to raise the body .. also good to put on a rotisserie for the body of a car .. Good luck .. you will be glad you did this… I also use this to put in motors and take them out of my pickup ..
Hey Danny, Man, you're getting high end now-a-days with buying body mounts, when I first started watching you (way back in you first videos) you use to use hockey pucks for body mounts. WOW how times have changed. Must be nice to have money. Back in the 70s I pulled the body off one of my old 57s by using bumper jacks to jack up the body up and then I put 55 gal drums under it. Now that was.Big Time SKETCHY!!!! lol - Later
About time you got a two door hardtop Dan do your best on this one okay and not to many short cuts okay red Winstead from the dirty south tupelo Mississippi proud of you Dan the man and tell Danny I said hey ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You know you're in trouble when the middle name comes out, looks like a fun build
A good Canadian boy doing what he loves ... and a girlfriend rolling her eyes as she helps.
Wife material. 😂😂
The two of you make an awesome team! 😊
That's how we changed the frame on my buddy's dad's LTD-we jacked up the body, and slid the old frame out, and the new frame in-thankfully, we were young!
Enjoy watching him create road cars. I love these old classic road worthy then driven as they are. He is real, like many of who learn as we go and never give up.
Hope to meet him someday! Joe
Thanks for the “collective “ eye roll Dani…….we’re all doing it but you were our surrogate 🥺
Just watched your latest video, and you didn’t disappoint! The only thing is now I’m wanting to do a TriFive build! My wife will never go for it!! Your doing great work! I’m waiting for the next one!!👍👍
You guys are doing a great job with the frame swap. It was a little scary for a minute. 😊
A few tense moments haha
Its actually starting to look like a car... Your pace is crazy Dan!!
Good to see Dani getting right in there, working. No wonder she is yawning, dude. No snow here in Oshawa, yet.
I love "I think what you think". What a great answer.😂
Thats is a pretty good hat trick Dan keep up the good work !
Nothing like building a car around a buck tag; the one and only DD Speed Shop. Great job!
Sketch level: 5 million. Had me on the edge of my seat when it would start rolling when jacking it up. Loved it! - Jamie
Love the far away voices .. then you show up ... Use some of the old silent film sound track for the area's were there is no sound ...🤣 At least with Daniel there you are not just talking to your self !
Greetings from B.C., Dan: Once again, thanks for doing an entertaining episode for us DD watchers...this shows the awesome old- school Diy skills at work on your build/ reconstruction.Really looking forward to your version of this classic 2dr.Keep on rollin!
Great job you two!
Always amazed at what you do with what you have . Frame swap no lift no problem , sketch …maybe but done ! Go Dan go
I like that she has all the best comebacks
Its coming together nicely DD Speed Shop crew ( You two )
If there was a Tri-5 speed building championship you would be the favorite
Thank you for the entertaining videos Dani and Dan ✌️🙂
Haha
Dan, hang your welder on the front. Use weights on the fire wall. I've been there and done that. I had the body fall off the back. I had to buy quarter panels, ugh. Nice work, brother, from across the border.
Great work Dan. Although I say use the tools at your disposal. Besides it'll help 'everyman' learn to be creative in solving those problems when they don't have those tools💁🏼♂️
Absolutely cool looking car. Enjoying the build, very entertaining. Keep up the good work, it's much appreciated.
The two of you both have great personalities, love to watch your channel
The shit show that is DD Speed shop is glorious and is exactly what we did growing up in the shop. Make due with what you have on a zero budget. Love it.
Awesome job guy's, no specialty tools just home garage tools great teamwork, DD Speed Shop rocks.
That was quite interesting to see the frame swap, nothing sketchy and nothing to see here 😂 great job guys and keep the awesome videos coming 👍✌️🇺🇲
I by far like what you do to some of these old cars. At least you are making them better, not like that Bad Chad fellow destroying vintage cars. Much rather watch you. Good job.
Sketchy as that was guys. But brilliant. Loved every minute of it Well Done. So Cool.
Daniel Glen!!! I love knowing my wife is not the only one who busts out my first and middle names when I'm in trouble. 😂😂😂
Nice frame swap!. In Connecticut there are so many "tri 5 barn finds" lately its hard to look at them all.
Great work crew Dan and Dani can build anything and still like each other.!!!
Resurrection of the dead. I don't know how these cars find their way to you but they do. I am really enjoying what you are doing to this 57. It's just like a big jig saw puzzle. Oh yeah I love the word
Caddy Wampus.
Dan and Dani it was so ironic you said we'll be right back after these messages so you could go find a block of wood and it went straight to a commercial😅
Great job getting the frames swapped and lining her up! You two make a great pair! Keep smiling, can't wait for the next video!
Thanks man!
One of your Best, Danni is a trooper pulling on the chassis and moving the jack around, great dialogue and just having fun. Thoroughly enjoyed it and Yes it has potential. ... .. .. I hope. And I loved hearing Danni call you by both your full first name and middle name that was funny.
Take care Guys, Dennis
Haha she's gets a little serious sometimes
Daniel Glenn, tell him Dani!😆 One "n" or two? Ya'll are awesome!
I've been watching Y all about 3months now......this one is absolutely the best video yet..lol. reminds me of.... me and my wife doing stuff
She sounds like an awesome lady!
The presence of rocker panels is always a plus and must have for the doors to seal shut.
Around 1980 or so I did a 1966 Chevy Impala SS and a 1956 Chevy 4dr wagon using regular 8"x8"x16" concrete blocks, 2"x8"x10' boards and two farm jacks by myself. I put a 66 big-block frame under the Impala, and a 69 (I think!) Chevelle frame under the 56 wagon. Really wasn't that big a deal. Jack it up...add blocks. Jack it up....add blocks. :) I was really looking forward to driving the wagon...would have been awesome to have a 56 chevy that would easily take any chevy engine/tranny combo of the time, and have modern (for the time) front end parts, and steering. Ended up selling the wagon before I was able to get around to putting it back on the road. Bummer.
That old chassis woulda been a awesome how to or not patch chassis video but I love this build stay safe
Love the old squeaky dependable jack been around the block needs a little service but shows up in the morning with a bad hangover and performs.
That precious girl works harder than a rented mule.
Brings back memories of doing this same thing on my 57 about 30 years ago. Its sketchy now and it was sketchy then lol.
Been great since I subscribed a few weeks? ago. Makes me want go buy an old Bel Air just to have project. Guess I should have a shop first though lol! I’ll keep watching. 👍🏻Love Dani she’s the bomb and gorgeous!
Impressive. King of the backyard mechanics. Great job.
Tow trucks and dollies,
U have an awesome Danni helper.
We all don’t have that either.😂
Definitely rename this video "Dumb Ways To Die " lol ! I love the comedy! Plus the Drama what a show !
Loving the build. keep up the good work. You guys are awesome.
You pull the frame out by hand.
I keep looking for the sign Derek from Vice grip garage gave to you.
" Sasquatch division"
Lol 😂
Great teaser at the end, The one we spent all the money on. And it's the next video! You need roll up doors on the ends of these garages.
❤ I really enjoy your videos. Awesome Con tent
One heck of a mechanic !! Wish my lights worked, thanks for the great examples!!
