Customer service is the truly the most important thing in any business. Also, The customer is not always right either, but even though that is true, you never argue with the client. You talk to them in a respectful way and set your boundaries and articulate it well so they don't get mad at your firm response. Because you have to be ready for that one customer that will screw up your whole day if you let them. They will argue with you or be hard headed about certain things and you need to learn how to deal with that. Practice makes perfect. I sold car paint for a few years and having good service made the customers come to us.
How did I miss this video? This is packed full of good advice and I agree with customer service. We are not in the detailing business because we are in the customer service business. I was lucky enough to work for Publix when the Jenkins family was still active in the company. They scheduled people for customer service facing rolls. When the Jenkins family finally stopped being active leadership removed those customer facing rolls and customer service did take a step back. “Give the customer the pickle!” Thank you for sharing your real world advice! You are definitely appreciated!
I really admire your honesty and straightforward business suggestions. I have learned so much from you. I wish I would have known you were in Chicago. Would have been a pleasure to meet you in person. Thank you.
Great message thank you! I really loved the last 4 min in. "Were in competition together and not against each other with fellow detailers" dont see them as an enemy they could actually be a great ally you just don't know about yet.
Excellent video Phil I really appreciate it. I’ve always preached the importance of customer service and like you said I’ve walked out of many of restaurants for bad service after training customer service for so many years at my last job. Also other detailers are not competition they are colleagues, friends, people who can teach me and I can teach them. So many gems in this video. Thank you again brother.
I really like seeing your videos. Thanks for your advice I believe your the real deal. Good luck as you continue forward and remember that Christ Jesus love’s you. I am a car enthusiast myself and a cancer survivor three times. Dr. don’t understand how I am still alive but I will become a car detailer I’m only 65 . I guess that doesn’t matter all you need is the will power. I’ve all ready made my first $100 dollars. I’m starting from scratch with the blessing of my Lord. Your doing great keep up the good work. Sincerely Obet Troche Rodríguez
Phil i am just a weekend warrior, but i find this information interesting and more importantly invaluable for people who are starting their own business. i would also imagine knowing your demographic, must difficult when starting out.
Started off a year and a half ago rented a shop first year I probably did 10 to 15,000 a month, now I’m averaging 40,000 a month, just detailing cars, got a couple commercial accounts which is consistent money
Would you pls advise on what’s the busiest days for a mobile detailer? Do I need to be avail on Fri and sat to detail or is Monday - Thursday better days to book clients? Long time viewer , subscriber on both channels needing advice, keep up the great content
Hi. Sorry for the delay. Not exactly what you mean about the busiest days for detailing. It doesn’t work that way. Getting customers really depends on many factors. If you have a good website that is optimized to gain views and clicks. Posting on social media helps a lot also to gain customers. It takes a while to truly build your business to where you’re just on a regular basis.
Put my business' backside out there on social media...got it! ;) but on a serious note: I wish someone would explain the widespread staff shortage issue in the workplaces! I can't wrap my mind around the mindset. I've worked since I was 15 (over 40 years ago now) officially, I was actually detailing. cutting grass, whatever I could since I was probably 12 or less. Where does this mass of humanity get their walking around money? How do they live? Are they seriously happy having NO direction in life and never having a "job well done!"? Splain' it at me please!
Hi. Yes! Exactly!🤣😎👍🏼. Yeah it’s strange. I have heard so many friends having issues trying to hire. We have never had employees so I really can’t speak to much on the matter. But from what I see other businesses dealing with, it’s a major problem and from what I can gather will eventually hit a plateau. This generation will come crawling back once the government funding and living with everyone’s family gets worn out! That’s my unofficial prediction…but who knows, maybe I’m on to something?
what happens if they don’t fill out the form I’ve had that happen too , do you tell them they have 24-48 hours before you book someone else and not hold onto the requested days???
Yes I tell them they have to fill out the form and then we will book the appointment. I text or email them reminders throughout the day until the full it out. If a day goes by and I hear nothing from them, I figure they don’t want the service and don’t book them.
