    I will hold my hands up and say, I cut roofs nearly every day for 15 years and thought it wasn’t for me until I bought one and now think I wish i had it 25 years ago, Dans Square is a game changer for anyone doing roofs. Not sure why anyone would slag it off. Great video Rodger/Dan

    Massive thanks to Skill Builder for the opportunity to film with them and the great exposure I’ve received. It’s been nice to share some knowledge and help fellow carpenters out.
    Also thanks to the usual suspects who comment with positive thoughts.

      @@Ultimate-roofing-square. use your thought process you use when doing work with fishing and you will succeed, I’m a roofer and I graft hard so when I fish I graft hard too and get good results, I may not have the best rig presentation but my spodding and time Watching what the fish are doing pays off. Your a top bloke and I’d love to have a session with you!

    I’m in the footings of my self build and I’ve bought Dans square, I haven’t done a house roof before, only garden offices with insulated panels so I know no better. I think Dan being the chilled no nonsense guy he is, really sells that square, and if that lets him put his feet up a little and enjoy a few shandy’s then good luck to him.

    I've done a lot of roofs now and spotted Dan's square on this channel as well as Dan's own channel, I could see the benefits pretty much straight away, the speed square is only used for squaring up my planer thicknesser fence these days.
    I love using Dan's square it is brilliant and too easy not to use.
    I love the British quality, robust, and well-made, I can see this lasting me out, no problem.
    We need more British made products to help us out.
    I totally understand filming amd working at the same time is totally hard work amd time consuming, I've managed a few videos on my craft but I am always producing but not videoing sadly.
    My latest project was a motorhome build, very much like a boat build with all the compound curves alone.
    Anyway, thank you Dan for making my work that much easier.

I have said it before Dans roofing square is a very clever idea, especially if you understand cut roofs.even the hip angles on it, we have all used a line and bevel to do this. 😮😂. Well done Dan and skill builder for promoting it. 👍🇮🇪

    Nice video chaps. Nice to hear Roger mention Robin too, I can't help but wonder if there's abit of friction with skillbuilder promoting Dan's Square when Robin was developing he's own too

    • @georgelfc1
      @georgelfc1 Рік тому +1

      I'm sure they'll promote robin's square too ,robin and Rodger go way back but robins gone quiet on the square front for a while now

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  Рік тому +1

      @@georgelfc1 We have told Robin that we are happy to review his square if and when he makes one. It is a paired down version of
      the Smallwood metric framing square with degrees on the tongue. It was designed and manufactured by his old college lecturer who gave one to every one of his students in an act of generosity. I still come students from Ewell Tech as it was, who still have their orginial square from their college days and cherish it. As far as we know Robin has only produced a proto type so there is no point in reviewing something that isn't for sale. It just pisses people off if they can't get hold of it.

    • @SkillBuilder
      @SkillBuilder  Рік тому +1

      davidhill431
      As far as Skill Builder is concerned there is no friction. Daniel's square exists and we were hardly going to tell him we couldn't look at it because Robin had something in the pipeline. If anyone is in business they have to get used to competition unless they grew up in the former Soviet Union where competitors were discouraged by dangling them out of a high window until they saw the error.

    dan & roger love the past UA-cam stuff dan has been brilliant how he pitches a roof on his own with his own method's, brilliant,
    Just one question dan do you suffer from OCD as you were saying that you change things if your not happy with them? I'm a long served builder who has ocd but its a brilliant thing but a curse at the same time as you strive for perfection all the time!!! And can be tiring because you care.
    Cheers boys 👌👌

  • @benheeley7486
    @benheeley7486 Рік тому +6

    To be honest I think Dan’s slight discomfort with the camera adds to his credibility. UA-cam has more than enough people who are uber confident, without necessarily having the ability.

    canny vid gents. next roof i do ill get one of those roofing squares they just look as if theyll make the job so easy;
    its a shame all the youtube lads all seem to be down south also. theres nowt wrong with newcastle or even sunderland (really) or any towns near by. i live in south shields. the closest tool show for me is always a near on 2 hour drive to harrogate. we do have trades up here. there has to be somewhere in newcastle or sunderland that can host a tool show. not all the lads can take a full day off work or afford the fuel to get there.
    im sure theres even a likely untapped market up here for the likes of dans roofing square as not everyone goes on youtube so they may be unaware of these products
