Just to clarify about the toilet bit. Yes, we use the left hand to wipe but we also use water and soap to clean it. After that, we wash our hands, again with soap. That's much cleaner than toilet paper. When I moved to London, there's no water to wipe, only toilet paper, so every time I finished number two, I took shower :) lol
The most interesting part for me was when he explain that we need to bow under the eye level. Growing up as a Javanese kid i've been told to bow a little bit, doesn't necessarily under eye level, and putting one's of your hands down (you know the form right) is just a gesture to respect another person. Usually this gesture is used whenever you cross the person older than you, to excuse yourself before them, to show some respect to the older one. And the most interesting part is, i think its translated the same almost everywhere in Indonesia.

I’ve also experienced this outside of school when meeting business partners of my father and they would always pull back their hand before I even got to shake. 12:25 he's right about the grammar. Bahasa Indonesia is like English but we don't have past tense, present tense, etc. You can actually translate everything per word from English to Bahasa Indonesia
The word bule came from albino buffalo, the Javanese call it bule, as the european came to Indonesia and their skin is different with them, they just synonim it with bule
I'm curious, has bule come to simply mean foreigner now? Because when I was in Java my friend (Pakistani) and I (Arab) were called bule the whole time. Is there a different word for non-white foreigners? Also, in Bali bule can also be pejorative as some locals (understandably) don't like tourists because they can be loud and disrespectful. In fact I have been told by some Balinese that I am not bule because I act respectfully and immerse myself in their culture. I'm keen to hear different Indonesians' use of this word.
@@ryanvb3452 in the area i live in (java), as you mentioned before, we all call foreigners 'bule'. no matter where they come from. it has no negative connotations (or at least we don't consider it negative) whatsoever, it's just a way to say foreigners in indonesian. then again i'm saying this from my experience in my area, it might be different in other cities/provinces. i hope you had a great time here!
I am Indonesian, it depend on which community or area you visiting. Some community realla care about it, but most of us understand when strangers do not know about that.
0:05 actually, it's fine to use your left hand only when you have a reason, like you're using your right hand to hold something or someone like your kid so you can only use your left hand. just say "maaf, tangan kiri" or "sorry, I'm using my left hand" first.

It is so sad since much people really have sad earning but still fighting For food yes we have questionable food but is do cheap it arround 0.5 usd, but you can get decent and clean one for 3 usd.. I had three bule friends and they survive street food, lol
you could actually use your left hand for one exception, if your right hand isn't available, and don't forget to also said "sorry" while using our left hand. there's actually nothing strict in a modern day settings of a culture, all it needs is an understanding, and of course manners and it's awareness.

Indonesia people are very kindly... Hope u enjoy here Bro...
'...cats, which I would avoid...' and there's me in Jakarta, feeding 6-10 street cats per day.
I think it's clear and very nice on how he describe Indonesia. I am Indonesian and mostly agree about him :)
Im left-handed and honestly they don’t really care, it’s just me overthinking about it
I care dude, de fck?
I'm Indonesian. I don't care too if you're using left or right
I am Indonesian, it depend on which community or area you visiting. Some community realla care about it, but most of us understand when strangers do not know about that.
Time changed indeed, even one of good habbit from indonesian ancestor getting forgotten. Feels bad man
I do care, i use left hand on perpose to insult some people if i dont like them
0:05 actually, it's fine to use your left hand only when you have a reason, like you're using your right hand to hold something or someone like your kid so you can only use your left hand. just say "maaf, tangan kiri" or "sorry, I'm using my left hand" first.
Beggars is everywhere but it organized, they earning alot more than average..

@@abitere2112 oh yeah i understand what you mean now
Immature. Maybe because we're quite laid back and easy going with life. 😂😂😂
you could actually use your left hand for one exception, if your right hand isn't available, and don't forget to also said "sorry" while using our left hand.
there's actually nothing strict in a modern day settings of a culture, all it needs is an understanding, and of course manners and it's awareness.

Bule means Mr. Foreigner... That what we were told when we were a child
white people only I guess, you won't call an Indian, korean, or south african Bule
@@ruuoxi actually we call them bule too
@@dzakk6156 that's uncommon for Asian we just called your nationality, bule comes from the word boulevard, in Dutch/ netherland colonial days most of them live in boulevard road, and it got shorten to boule/ bule
*white foreigner
@@aidilmubarock5394 never knew that, thanks for the explanation!
It made more sense, because I don't think bule is for any foreigner, like malaysian, thai, or phillipines you won't call them bule, when you mention bule the implication is white skin foreigner with blond/blonde hair, like most dutch people is
this is pretty accurate explanation living in indonesia, thumbs up
