Awkwafina’s recorded voice will take over conductor announcements on the No. 7 train over the next week, adding a shot of attitude and humor to Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s passenger messaging.

I'm a lifelong 7 train victim and I don't mind to some extent especially considering the fact that 7 train announcements are usually garbled. But I can see how annoying it can get over time especially when the 7 has it's usual delays. I do like her energy when the train goes to Citi Field. I think that particular announcement would play well for Mets fans during the baseball season.

@@Cchan-xy3hc She says the usual station anouncement and then possibly a quip about that particular stop. So, when it's Citi Field she mentions that she loves the Mets. I just passed by Bryant Park and she mentioned the public library. Vernon Blvd she tells dudes to stop manspreading. Queensboro Plaza she tells people to use headphones even if their playlist is fire.
If Cardi B was to announce the 4 line to Promote her music LOLLLL “EOWWWWWWWWWWW THIS STOP HAVE THE EXCLUSIVESSS, anyways this stop is FORDHAM RD”

The most annoying train announcements from Akwafina. Her voice is no fun and irritating. This is how broke MTA is. They need paid adverts like this one for Nora from Queens. Sad.

She's from Queens and Asian. Technically, they should do the announcements for Forest Hills trains, where she's from. But her core demo are Asians and the 7 has a ton of Asians.

@@nyctransitrailfan Well, I'm Latino and I know who she is and I met her years ago. But the show is based in America, in Queens. Most likely loosely based on her life. People in China might relate to the cultural aspects of the show that deal with China but they might not necessarily get the New York or American aspects. As long as they don't do the announcements too long, I don't have a problem with it. I love Seinfeld but I wasn't a big fan of their whole car ads that covered the interior of the trains.

They did this for promo only because the majority of people that ride the 7 train are Hispanics, middle Eastern and asians. So they don't know or care about the show or the actor. I don't even see the benefit at all from this since the majority are just annoyed or have their buds on. Besides she's from forest hills which is the R, F, E, and M trains. They should've promoted there since there is a higher amount of English speakers.
