Looking forward to hearing it
Love this build. The Supercharger, performance Cam, ported heads and that awesome radiator. So nice. And a massive transmission cooler. Great video.
Thank you
Everything looks awesome. Can’t wait to see it on the trails
The build is looking awesome! Can't wait to see it in action.
Is too.
😍Great review.
Can’t wait to see y’all back on the road in the H3.. safe travels
Thank you
Just finished the video. Wow. So much goes into a supercharged engine. But you guys are doing everything the right way and it’s going to be amazing.
I hope sooooo. So far so good but we are really ready to get it out on the trail.
@@TsarTrail I know the feeling. Can’t wait to get out myself. Even more so, when we can both go overland together again
Love it , thanks
Wow, the ported heads look great. What an awesome build. That will be a game changer for you guys. The list of parts is long. I can’t wait to see it perform.
Thank you!!!
Great video! Thank you for sharing with us. I have been thinking of this very same supercharger kit for the Colorado now for a couple of years on my built engine LS3 H3T Alpha. It’s a bit overkill but still something to add lol. I also like the transmission cooler placement mounted to the radiator support brace. Not sure how much air it will see in that particular location with the skid plate in front of it, but you could always do a remote mount transmission cooler in the rear. That is how I have mine and the transmission oil line placement is extremely simple, going straight back from the transmission and under the truck bed. Super simple and effective.
Thank you!!!! Yes, we have moved the cooler to the rear and added a few fans and a custom shroud.
Your builds sound great!!!
Awesome setup on an H3.
Thank you
Saw this and thought id give some input, those fans wont be enough for your application. Radiator looks fine, but once you have the condensor and a cooler upfront the fans will suffer.
I personally had to fight cooling my engine in 125* weather here in Qatar. I dont tow, but have a cammed 6.2 pushing 500 hp so I guess its comparable to your 5.3 supercharged setup hp wise, but you will be towing which puts more load (heat) on the engine. I recommend you look inta camaro ss brushless fan, pcm controllable 19" fan that can outperform anything you can fit there, being on oem fan it shld be very reliable and less likely to fail and it varies in speed which means its not always putting load on the alternator....
Very cool. That is great information. Especially from someone that has done a similar mod before us. Thank you.
As the build continues and we start testing it on the road we will monitor temps.
I’ll look into where I can find the Camero 19” fan.
Thank you!!!!
Can't wait to see the 1st quarter mile run before you gear up for the trail!
Lol… it will be much improved.
Update? Have the magnson supercharger in my cart waiting to pull the trigger
How is the supercharger holding up? Our H3 build has been going for about a year. Possible supercharger in the future
Nice mods. I have a 2009 H3 Alpha Adventure with the 5.3 and I would like to install the same the same Aeroforce gauge. Which mount did you all chose to work with the H3? I see you used J&S performance can you throw up their number to get ahold of them. I'm just the next state over from you in Kansas.
You can reach JR or Sean at J&S Performance at 720-329-3015. They are great guys. Mention Tsar Trail, they can help you with any questions.
Nice show us more videos of the engine noise looks awesome
We are working on it. Thank you!!!
Wow❤😍
Thank you for sharing your videos, I'm a long time follower. I have a Question for you. I'm waiting for a good 2010 H3 Alpha to hopefully purchase cause they have front and rear lockers but if its not available and purchase a 2008 H3 Alpha, is it possible to add after market front lockers ?
Thank you.
Yes you can add an e locker if you find one for sale. A friend gave me his and I am installing it. The other option in an air locker on the front. Both are good options.
Are you planning to do a solid axle swap and heavier duty transmission at some point? The stock front diff is a known weak point on the H3 as is the 4L60 transmission. I hope your reliability doesn't suffer with all of these mods.
your wife will allow you to have nothing with this attitude
Not sure about the SAS. We are looking at suspension options. Right now they are limited but a few companies are toying with ideas.
We will be beefing up the transmission.
@@TsarTrail SAS and suspension is unfortunately tough for the H3 (I know as I have one!!) Thor Parts in Indiana does alot of SAS and Suspension upgrades, but I'm sure you know amount them! Wish they kept making the H3! It's a great vehicle!! Love your channel!
@@user-qp2yn5ko8r thank you. Yes, lots of things to figure out but not any easy suspension options.
Hi, any updates with the supercharger?
Saludos, desde Mexico.
We are working on the transmission and transfer case. Once done we will have full update. Thanks for asking.
buddy i got the same radiator but becareful on the top bushing there is a piece of the radiator support that could damage the radiator i twist the part down.
Thank you. Any chance you can send a pic? Jeff@tsartrail.com.
How do you like it? Do you tow? Do you 4x4 much? We haven’t tested ours yet
@@TsarTrail i have a 2009 hummer h3t alpha i love it the only thing i dont have is the front & rear loockers which im trying to get n put them on, other wise i love the truck.
I hv an 09 Alpha w/front and rear lockers. I'm looking to overland pulling a 7x12 - 7x14 enclosed cargo converted trailer. Approx how much did you end up spending on all the parts and labor that went with putting on the supercharger?
What kinda of rear view mirror is that? Is it OEM? Looks huge.
It’s oem for the 08 Alpha. It has the slide out rear camera screen.
Update?
Hey, How’ve you been?
Any update for the Chanel?
Where are
You been?
Im following you from Tijuana Mexico.
✌️
Thank you for checking in. We are in transition time in life now. We are working on plans to overland travel a lot more early 2024. The three of us are good. We will be producing regular content in a few months.
With going that far into the motor, why not do a complete rebuild, rod, and main bearings rings ? I'm just curious im a ASE certified mechanic at a well established shop out of Dallas and I've never seen anyone go this far into a motor with that many miles and not replace an additional $400 in parts to complete the rebuild.
That’s a good question. We just went with the advice from the guys that did the work. They come highly recommended. But I have since wondered the same thing.
We live and learn I guess.
Update?? Or did you sell it?
Oh man, life has been so crazy. We have not sold our h3. We had a few delays on completing the build but nearing completion.
I own a 2009 h3t alpha with adventure and luxury package i possible like to install a supercharger on my 5.3 the question is is it worth it what is the added horses power and torque and what was the final cost to do this i have a Magnuson supercharger on my Toyota fj cruiser i installed myself very simple instructions no issues due to the extra overlanding gear installed i am heavy she very fast not sure the numbers sitting on 35x12.50x18 Mickey Thompson tires baja boss , 6 speed manual , i might be interested to do the same to my hummers if the numbers make sense , but i will say my yota gets no fuel mileage on a 19 tank i can't get 200 miles to a tank , crazy for a Toyota but on long distance you will feel yhe pain for me to do a Colorado trip up and back to texas probably cost me 2 grand in fuel due to requires premium fuel at 4 bucks a gallon but she paid off so thats helps sense you live in Colorado saves you a mint on fuel doing Colorado overlanding trips anyway i loke to know the numbers to do a supercharger and benefits of doing it
The power on our Alpha is night and day. Premium fuel is expensive. But we really wanted more power for pulling our trailer and overland gear.
Un the future if you give a few months notice on Colorado overland trips maybe some of us hummer owners may plan around trip and Hook up I'm a otr truck driver so my time is limited and have time to drive to Colorado I live in Dallas tx area anyway happy trails
@@jamesray3920 sounds like a great idea
Have you done a good inspection of your frame on my 09 h3t hummer truck has real bad frame rust to the point it unsafe to off road in its eaten thru frame in many sections 😢 they are no replacement gm don't make them any more dome at salvage yards all i can do is fimd a good shop who doae this type of work , it going to be in the thousands to repair this if you don't have rotted rusty frame i suggest get some real good under coating done sense you live in Colorado i bought my hummer 2 years ago from tom river new jerseys o didn't look under hummer to inspect for anything bad , insurance won't do anything i live in texas all we get for some is surface rust i really pist on such a rare vehicle in this shape i feel the dealer knew this and got me i wi have to frame off hummer to address this problem the frame is 30 to 40 % gone
I've been looking to get around 450-500hp out of my H3 but I heard that some guy went with a supercharger and said he spent most of his money and time finding the next weak link in his drivetrain
There is definitely some truth to that. The 4L60e is not designed to handle that much power. It will eventually fail unless it is driven in full time grandma mode. It can be very gently driven and survive. I have a friend that has done that for several years. But we tow a trailer up mountain passes and spend a lot of time off road. So our H3 is asked to work pretty hard. There are several options out there. You can beef up the stock transmission or upgrade. That is the weakest point. There are some other areas that can be beefed up as well.
@@TsarTrail I plan on getting a 6l80e, even with a 6l80 people have said theres still a lot of drivetrain reliability issues
Hidden Winch Mount!!!
The supercharger charge air cooler has put the hidden winch mount in jeopardy. Ugh.
Looking at bumper options and moving the transmission cooler to the rear with some fans.
@@TsarTrail give me a call, might have an idea
Where are u located?
Colorado. South of Denver.
Update????
Coming soon… I hope. Life/work has been a little crazy and our local machine shop has been very backed up for a little custom work we are having done.
@@TsarTrail Good deal! I know y’all got to be excited. Plus that thing will be so fast- need to enter it in a NASCAR race. Win some money!
@@bradishee8666 now that would be fun!!!
Prop ably found out that hot rodding a Hummer is a bad idea! Or maybe he is getting divorced. Or both! Been there unfortunately!
Run no cats and just tune them out. It makes every engine last longer.
