People aren't voting as a joke because they're idiots but because they don't feel being represented by democracy. If democracy cannot treat them seriously neither they're obligged to play seriously with democracy.
@@cardyceps7728 then first the state should be serious with embracing multi-party systems, however even the most democratic parties that rule around the world just tend to restric minority vote. Manipulating the sizes of electoral districts, establishing special rules of participating in voting or straight up scraping the entire electoral systems for the sake of more unbalanced approach towards smaller parties. Not to mention suppression of parties by infiltrating them with literal saboteurs to sow sense of distrust and disunity in smaller parties leading to collapsing any aprty that would be ready to challenge the established system. People are seeing through this stuff and the only thing they can do is to just laugh and don't take any other side for it to only collapse under the pressure of the parties of old.
Coming from Greece, the model country for Cyprus in politics unfortunately, and I'd say that he is a tame politician compared to his peers in both Greece and Cyprus. His crimes are mostly trespassing and being petty, meanwhile in Greece we have politicians that have been charged with drug trafficking and in Cyprus there have been politicians that have been charged with the homicide of migrants, by ordering not to save migrants that were in Cyprus' maritime borders.
Not all youtubers in politics are terrible politicians, though. For instance, Nico Semsrott, youtuber and comedian, was antil recently part of the party "Die Partei," a mostly satirical party with a focus on exposing corruption and lobbying. He was voted into the EU parlament and, besides the exposing corruption and supporting legislation that would have made lobbying more transparent, advocated for more social programs and a better green policy.
@@Butter_Warrior99 You better lower the price of the living cost, make people retire at age 60, give us tax cut, mass deport the illegal immigrants and fix America!
Yeah, but he and Martin Sonneborn have basically been exposing the crap out of the European Parliament since. They're actually doing serious work, unlike that new guy.
" I love democracy" But not ironically. All jokes aside, Internet is becoming an increasingly important part of people's lives, so it was only a matter of time.
I don't know the rules, maybe it would be enough for him to run if he would get permanent residency of Portugal. Or more likely he'd have to be a citizen. Especially the latter would probably take years to achieve -- at least through the normal route; I think Portugal is one of the EU countries that have been criticized for essentially _selling_ residencies and citizenships for rich people. So maybe if Roman's channel will make enough money he could get citizenship faster. And then he could become the UA-camr representing Portugal in the EU Parliament, hopefully improving the image of UA-camrs after Fidias has been there fooling around.
As an American who holds degrees in political science related majors, I can confidently say that outcomes like "youtuber (or other unqualified celebrity) wins election" are an inherent part of the experience in democracies. Besides the obvious example of Trump, we've had Arnold Schwarzenegger as Governor (basically like president of the state) of the state of California, a professional wrestler named Jesse Ventura as governor of the state of Minnesota, actor Clint Eastwood has been mayor (kinda like president of a city) of the city of Carmel in California. Those are just examples off the top of my head... Oh yeah, and President Zelensky of Ukraine who was famously an actor with no political experience before he won election. I'm not saying that I'm in favor of these outcomes (I'm not) but it's par for the course that occasionally celebrity will win over actually being qualified in free and fair elections. It's part of the fun of elections. And the EU would be so lucky to eventually have EU minister Roman Abalin in another 25-30 years. Seriously.
@@TheDude-w5lmy bigger point is that in democracies, it's not always the "most politically experienced or qualified" candidate who will win elections.
Hah, you forgot to mention President Ronald Regan, a movie actor before becoming president in the 80's when life was much simpler and the main media was just radio and low density color TV. I kind of miss those days.

As a Cypriot viewer of your channel, I have some thoughts to share: A small correction: Fidias is not actually Eurosceptic. He has embraced the EU and the importance of the European Parliament many times. He even considered joining the ballot of the Green Party of Cyprus, but his audience insisted that he run independently, so that’s what he did. Moreover, it is not the 12-year-olds that voted for Fidias (obviously, since the voting age in Cyprus is 18). According to exit polls, Fidias was voted for by people across the age spectrum, with no significant over-representation among younger ages. The content on his Cypriot channel is vastly different from the "silly MrBeast-like content" he publishes on his international channel. Despite the image Fidias projects to the world, he is far from "another stupid UA-camr." On his Cypriot channel, he publishes podcasts with many reputable figures, including politicians and journalists. He engages in serious conversations and is a deep thinker. While the videos on his international channel may be controversial (especially the older ones), his image in Cyprus is completely different. Through his daily UA-cam Shorts, he has become like a best friend to many Cypriots, and during his campaign, he was approached by people of all ages. He can be a clown when needed, but he knows when to be serious and responsible. People see a truth in Fidias and a willingness to learn and become, as he said, "the best MEP of Cyprus." The fact that his father is a priest and the positive comments from nearly everyone who has met Fidias have further improved his public image. In Cyprus, this is the number one news topic since election day, and it has been dubbed the "Fidias Phenomenon." The Cypriot political system used to be very stable, with the four main parties holding the same positions since basically always. Now, Fidias, as an independent candidate, has surpassed well-established parties with tens of thousands of members across Cyprus and finished 3rd, just 2 percentage points below AKEL, a party that has always dominated the Cypriot political system along with DISY. Fidias achieved this solely through the power of social media, without spending anything on ads, billboards, etc. No other independent candidates have ever come close to being elected as MEPs or even MPs in the history of the island. To conclude, although Fidias may seem like a silly clown, he is actually much smarter and more responsible than he appears. During his campaign, he met a remarkable number of people, all of whom have a very good impression of him. Fidias took his role very seriously and is currently taking lessons from other Cypriot MEPs. Despite not having voted for him, I can see what others see in Fidias, and I actually believe he can bring positive outcomes. Through his UA-cam Shorts, he will bring people closer to the European Parliament and the EU and increase youth participation in politics. Europe has enough "normal politicians"; one less won't hurt anyone. Fidias will be an experiment for the future of democracy and the power of social media. In the end, no one knows what will happen, but even if he fails to deliver what he promised, he certainly can't be worse than the numerous far-right fascists who have been elected and are considered "normal" and "acceptable" politicians.
Well said. He even said that he will no longer be Mr.Beast clone, so he does recognize that a lot of stuff he was doing wasn't right. Also, he seperated ways with Airrack long ago. Nothing he said during or after the elections was irrational, he is evolving fast.
As a Cypriot, we voted for him because of how fed up we are with the establishment of the same parties getting voted for. His Greek content is actually authentic and not shallow, but unfortunately on his International channel he was an idiot. In Cyprus he has a much different image to us. If you want to judge him as a politician you need to understand his Greek content to see his serious side.
In Lithuania we literally had TV stars political party who got voted to our government and it was a shitshow at first but actually quite few of them turned out a lot better then normal politicians.
naah...just 16% voted for the party that wants to get rid of ALL illegal immigrants...oh wait...no the _christian_ ... _democratic_ ... party, wants that also... just hoping no one would notice that every refugee is an illegal immigrant. -.-' but just 16% r Nazis. They voted for a party with assured nazis at the top. And chinese spies...and russian spies... they could nearly make a revival of the _spies girls_ - badum tss -
@@rishisaini5269 Cyberpunk was honestly not as bad as I expected. Apart from the giant, unrealistic, lack of cyber security, Cyberpunk is mostly a dystopia because the USA has exploded in a million pieces. When you actually look at Night City, every single part of the city, even the supposedly poor parts, it's actually quite clean and well kept. People walk the streets without worry even at night and there are barely any homeless people outside unlike some countries today. As for the "scary" part, Megacorporations are just governments, they control territory, have armies, enforce law, they are no different than a very capitalist country.
I personally believe that he won’t be the biggest threat for EU parliament because you still have there one Slovak member who literally stated that “All Slavic countries will unite and turn the entire Western Europe into dust together”
😂 bruh... He also won't be the biggest nuisance, bc now there will be one Romanian member there, who *constantly* makes street-like scandals in the Romanian Parliament...
as a Cypriot i think that fidias won because the young people of this country are not happy with the left or the right wing parties so it was like a slap to the system from young people. Fidias run as an independent with no party backing him. He said that he doesnt support any party and that he will try his best to be useful to the people.
Related to that. Here in Spain 800,000 bkokes voted for our version of Alex Jones, giving him 3 seats. His program was wanting to get into the EU Parliament to escape prosecution by the Spanish law.
Another day I have to be sad that my nation started the most recent trend of insane populist conspiracy theorist in the mainstream "news" and politics. Hopefully you can sue him into oblivion like we have Alex Jones over his nasty misinformation/slander/libel.
To be honest. If fidias was polling his subscribers and shit before making a decision... that would be a fuck ton more democratic than the current system of lobbying and meeting with corporations behind closed doors to make decisions.
I agree that lobbying should definitely be banned, but it's also not as dire as you say in the EU institutions (in the US, it might be different). For example, see the EU USB-C law and the Right to Repair legislation - no company would give their consent to that, and Apple fought tooth and nail to not have to comply. Not saying that this is all perfect in the EU, but it's not as bad as you say here.
viewer from Cyprus here, there is a lot of context to add to this. In short people here are fed up with political parties because they don't care about benefiting the people also him winning the votes over the far right party which was projected to be third or second i guess its kind of a win. Also he apologised for his previous videos and he says that he is committed on learning to become the best EU Parliament member. In addition he wants to make improvements in the education system. It seems so far he might aligned himself with the greens or liberals in the EU parliament. I see this as more of an experiment that can go terribly wrong or it could actually be beneficial as young people can have someone telling them directly what EU policies are how they help etc which imo is something that is missing as a lot of people dont have time to spend on politics unfortunately. We will see.
A popular gun youtuber Brandon Herrera ran for congress in my district in Texas. He lost by 400 votes. He actually ran a legitimate campaign but unfortunately the establishment backed the incumbent with 10x the funding Herrera got.
Yeah, I don't like how partisan Brandon is, I think he gets too blinded by the "conservative" "news" media but at the end of the day I don't think he is a bad guy with bad intentions. Texas could have/already has worse representation. I'll respect a principled stance I don't agree with. I wont respect blind partisan gang politics.

Don't worry I am half Greek and Cypriot Greek can be hard to understand with the differences and accents. Also when it comes to UA-camrs running for public office there are some who are the complete opposite of him who have been elected in local and national elections including in Sweden so it's not all bad.
There was a time where here in Quebec where some unknown barmaid agreed to put her name on the ballot basically only to allow the few voters of her circumscription to be able to have a candidate, any candidate. She did not campaign, everyone expected her to come in dead last. Yet, on the federal level, the party leader makes a killing in the province, there's an unexpected surge of support and she ends up winning. Alone with kids, not much of an education, no political experience whatsoever. But she did take the job, did it the best she could, and even though the tides have changed at the national level and she eventually lost her seat, everyone agreed she did absolutely great. Who knows, when shit gets real, some people change for the better. Although I don't harbour that many hopes for some Mr. Beast copycat, I guess the people of Cyprus can let the guy cook and hope for the best?

A few comments here from a Brit living in Cyprus. There's nothing wrong you've said about him, but many young people here are apathetic about poilitics. He stated that his main reason for standing was to get more people to register to vote, he wasn't expecting to actually get elected. That's a worthy cause in itself, the fact that those young people registered, voted and voted for him is what got him in. He got over half of the 18-21 vote. Joking aside, what this SHOULD show the mainstream parties is that they've failed and are continuing to fail the youth and the youth DO have the power to vote them out. I see this as a positive. On the other hand what ISN'T positive is that the far right ELAM, who used to be funded by Greece's Golden Dawn also got a member elected.
This made me chuckle. To be fair, Roman, this is called a democracy. And the EU is a flawed one, like the USA. But still, it is amazing that stuff like this doesn't happen more often. If you are interested, check out the system in my country Switzerland. Here we have NO excuse if we are complaining about anything because it is actually very easy to get involved. So actually we should cheer such stuff, even when the ones using it are idiots like that. Imagine that system now in Russia.. one problem though: it not only encourages the public to inform themselves and get involved, it makes it your duty. But seeing how Switzerland is doing compared to the rest of Europe.. I guess it works.
You guys in Switzerland actually have a different and unique, real, democracy. Also don't forget that geography and history plays a very important role in any country's relationship with freedom. Switzerland is basically a natural fortress, and you're the one living inside it. No one will ever dare to come looking for trouble against you, in your huge snowy mountains ;-)
The one thing when talking with my fellow swiss about participating in the EU hat comes up mostly are not immigration (Switzerland has 26% foreign residents and the right wing surge you see in the EU... we had that in 1970 already) but the lack of democracy as we understand it. In Switzerland, if I am not okay with something, say a new law, I can either do the bare minimum and wait til it is time to vote for... or I can get a couple friends and initiate a better law.. or actually put myself up for a political position. It is a LOT of work, that's true. But in the end, if something goes wrong... I have only to blame myself. Most swiss look at the EU or the US with suspicion because it is so flawed (same for Germany, France, Italy, most swiss can't imagine living under such flawed systems)... as for countries like Russia, Belarus, China.. they are completely unthinkable to us. For a time there was a channel called 1492 who interviewed people on the streets in russia (what happened to those guys? Anyone know?) and the lack of interesst of the russian people in their government and politics was scary. Most regular answer: I don't care for politics.. it is a nightmare scenario to think of such answers from the public. And yes, I am aware most of those answers came from a place of fear... but still.. it is shocking to see
Because many might not get the joke, Alexey Navalny actually was a Politician first and who became youtuber after (also in parts getting ousted from politics)
My name is borat i like %@& I love that movie i feels like borat is real person because the way the movie is edited i really feels like borat really made it himself
As a Greek person seeing Fidias win in Cyprus kinda gave a slap in general to Greeks of what young people can do and how unsatisfied we are currently with the rest. Is he the best role model? Absolutely not especially considering his UA-cam content. We knew that. But it’s a change from the left and right that only catered to its retired people in order to get re elected again and do no changes at all to the economy and the corruption. Both to Cyprus and Greece.
ngl, I don't think a UA-camr holding an elected office is necessarily a terrible thing, but I do think that they should at least be well-informed on the main political issues. Imo, the label "UA-camr" should be treated similarly to any other job title: something that might inform a candidate's views on certain issues (internet regulations in this case), but just a small part of the bigger picture--not a trait that defines an entire politician. As for Fidias, however, it's questionable how informed he is--if at all. He's made being an outsider a much bigger part of his campaign than any particular policies. Curious to see what approach he'll take as an MEP.
9:16 well i cant tell he wont behave that diffeentky than one of our future MEP. You see, here in romania, a far-right party called S.O.S Party ( Yes, thats its actual name) won 2 seats in the EP. And the leader of that party is one called Diana Șoșoacă. And lets say she is something of a trump-like character and in the worst way possible. Here, she is know for being very flamboyant, cringy and always seem to make a fool of herself. And more than that, she is even openly pro-russian. She made a lot of posts that spouse kremlin conspiracy theories, criticises the romanian goverment's role in aiding Ukraine and she even met the new russian ambasador on the Russian National Day. And now we will send her to Brussels. And this is not the only insane thing that came out of this election for us (or rather electionS as we also voted for local elections)
1. Europe is not cooked 2. Stop with the click baiting titles - you can do better 3. This is how democracy works - you have time to learn 4. If Europe is cooked, Novosibirisk is always an alternative ❤
That's why I ALWAYS go an vote, even if I don't have anyone to vote for. Because the fringe weird people are always going to be mobilized, and far right people too, and if the turnout is low, they basically get the whole pie for the taking. That's why the average person needs to go and vote, to keep such far right, and youtube/tiktok prank from actually making it into government.
I'm gonna be polite. Your political leaning is blinding you. Problem when you have a political bias is you think its the ONLY way things should be run. Perhaps there is a reason for the sudden swing to the right? Also.. bitching about corporations/youtubers on youtube and begging via sponsors? No self awareness.
Ronald Reagan, Sonny Bono, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Vladimir Zelensky, Donald Trump...there are so many more people that started as actors and influencers that have run for and won offices than you realize.
Those British youtubers didn't "sink the UKIP vote". UKIP had accomplished its goal(Brexit), so big names like Nigel Farage left the party and its voter base moved to the Conservatives under Boris Johnson. The party was as good as dead and they tried to revive it. The way British elections work however, requires you to be popular in a specific local area, nation-wide popularity doesn't really help as much.
@@reyson01 But the UK isn't independant from the EU. The UK still trades with EU, but now have much less say over EU trade policy and other aspects of EU that affect the UK.
The pop-ification of politics(what kind of society do you want to live in?) where "personality" beats policy is just the logical end point of the current neo-liberal mindset. Peoples political apathy in the developed nations caused this, and now that good politics is vital, everyone is lost in the woods.
Roman, the classic Greeks (who invented democracy) had nothing but contempt for a grown man who DID NOT engage in politics. They literally termed him "idiotos", one who stays to himself and avoids participating in government. The city-state of Athens even fined habitual offenders. Zelensky is a man who matured into the presidency of a nation, from his background as a media mogul. He has become a consummate politician and a compelling war-time leader. He has been indefatigable and successful in raising aid for Ukraine. He may have seemed a light-weight when he first gained power, but no one questions his validity or ability as a political leader now.
You get fined for not voting in Australia too, & I think it's very sensible. They can't force you to cast a valid vote, but if you're in a polling booth with a ballot & a pen, why wouldn't you vote for the best candidates, or at least the least-bad ones? If you don't, it's a hugely disrespectful slap in the face to those who fought & died for democracy, & you better not complain about anything the government does, cos you threw away your chance to vote in better people. I agree about Zelenskyy too: he also has a law degree, & a lot of his comedy was political satire. He's not perfect, but you can't compare him to this loser.
@@beth7935 Australia definitely has its problems, and forced voting is one of them. What a pile of feel-good crap. The idea that not voting is disrespectful to past generations falls pretty flat when the current crop of candidates and party partisans are _opposed to_ and _violative of_ the principles that past generations fought and died for. This is especially the case here in the US, and I'm not rewarding their betrayal with my vote. I've done that and guess what happened: I watched the laws and principles of my country _get betrayed._ Gee, what a shock. Zap. Adults learn to not play that bs. Plus, casting votes for people you don't actually approve of tells the populace _and the politician you don't like_ that you do like them after all. "This is what the people want", says the one who isn't the None Of The Above that the people want. Adults keep it real, while forced voting keeps it fake. Plus, the idea of "if you don't vote, you can't complain" just literally means _shut up and accept the choices we give you._ Oh hell no. You're not entitled to my vote _OR_ to my silence. Adults don't play that false dichotomy bs either, thus I don't vote _and_ I don't shut up.
Hopefully John Zherka don't see that. He will be like minors in a poor country, bro I'm there lol. Just goes to show how much of a joke politics are now and that zero governments have there people's best interests in mind.
MEPs are also paid a basic salary of 10,000 euros per month. EU tax is paid for it first, after which the salary is around 7,800 euros. The MEPs still pay a national tax on that, after which the remaining share varies according to the income tax rate. However, the general expense reimbursement of thousands of euros is not affected. Mepei are paid five tons in hand every month without any other explanations. With it, they can pay for office supplies, taxi trips, the rent of the domestic office or other representation expenses. In principle, you can use the money as you want, for what you want. The budget for assistants is 28,000 euros per month. Similarly, daily allowance, 350 euros per day, is only paid for those days when MEPs participate in the official activities of the parliament, i.e. plenary sessions or committee meetings. Now the travel allowance has been 300 -400 euros per week. It has been a compensation for the time and intermediate distances that are spent traveling to the workplace in Brussels or Strasbourg.

Yeah, people who are unqualified to be high public office I point to the American version Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC). She was a bartender who primaried a sitting incumbent and beat him. It is a heavily Democrat district so she won and went to Congress. Her claim to fame is nothing more than making a lot of noise. One thing I heard years ago that rings true. Americans tend to elect funny or quirky people into office. About two decades ago there was a disaster and the person who ran for office because they looked cool (not the real reason) but when the disaster happened, they had no clue what to do. But the line is that it's funny until something serious happens.
I don't know the EU that well but it seems to me that the EU elections seem to have more extremist edge case winners than the elections for those countries' own governments do. For example, Nigel Farage being very much a bit player in UK politics ending up representing the UK in the EU elections. What is it about EU elections that makes fringe candidates win more than they do in country elections?

I'm from Cyprus, I know this seems like a big joke and although I despise the content that Fidias makes, trust me he's much better than any party that could have come up from Cyprus. With him being elected, he's proven how tired some people really are of the same bs all the time and want a change in Cyprus. Many people did it as a retaliation to the current parties that exist in Cyprus because there are absolutely dreadful. At least Fidias is willing to learn and willing to do some good for our country so I'm all for it, why not? Better than what we have had so far. it's literally basically like you Mr Roman getting elected for something in Russia like it's dumb but better you than them innit. Shoutout to Artyom from Chelyabinsk
Basically Cyprus politics are a mess right now and as a Cypriot i can break down some of the reasons why he got elected -Corruption and Favoritism: Many Cypriots are disillusioned with the perceived corruption and favoritism entrenched in the political system. This sentiment was a significant driver behind Fidias' success, as voters sought an alternative to the established political elites. -Protest Vote: Fidias' election is seen as a protest vote against the traditional political parties. His campaign resonated with voters who wanted to express their dissatisfaction with the status quo because Cyprus politicians just say stuff and never act on them, they are all just words. The protest votes also show in the demographic because most of his voters are not young people in there 20s but people in there 30s and 40s. Even most of my relatives and friends vote him for 2 reasons. 1 To get less people from the political parties in the eu parliment 2 To have 1 less seat for akel which was for a Turkish Cypriot candidate -And also lets not forget his popularity If you are wondering if a vote him or no well I didn't since i was in Greece for a vacation and voted nobody. Would I vote him though if i was there, the answer is probably yes because i believe in that way the parties could get a message to do better for the people. Edit: I forgot to mention i am 17 so even if i could and wanted i wouldn’t be able to vote

If this guy supported New Green Deal that caused the farmers to start mass protests across the EU I guess he was actually a horrible choice.

Maybe he will live long enough to represent Russia.
@@amadeosendiulo2137 Russia won't leave when he gets this citizenship
I don't know the rules, maybe it would be enough for him to run if he would get permanent residency of Portugal. Or more likely he'd have to be a citizen.
Especially the latter would probably take years to achieve -- at least through the normal route; I think Portugal is one of the EU countries that have been criticized for essentially _selling_ residencies and citizenships for rich people. So maybe if Roman's channel will make enough money he could get citizenship faster. And then he could become the UA-camr representing Portugal in the EU Parliament, hopefully improving the image of UA-camrs after Fidias has been there fooling around.
@@DimaShirshkov1 so next election
Seriously.
So?...the Romanian president is an ex physics professor, whom political experience was that he was also the mayor of his home city.

As a Cypriot viewer of your channel, I have some thoughts to share:
A small correction: Fidias is not actually Eurosceptic.
Interesting. Even if I am old and think that vertical video is evil. 😆

Also he apologised for his previous videos and he says that he is committed on learning to become the best EU Parliament member. In addition he wants to make improvements in the education system. It seems so far he might aligned himself with the greens or liberals in the EU parliament.
Agreed. Cherish this system, as flawed as it is, for as long as we have it.
It's really depressing as an American to see Europe infected with our brainrot.
Anyone know?) and the lack of interesst of the russian people in their government and politics was scary. ngl, I don't think a UA-camr holding an elected office is necessarily a terrible thing, but I do think that they should at least be well-informed on the main political issues.

Roman, the classic Greeks (who invented democracy) had nothing but contempt for a grown man who DID NOT engage in politics.

It has been a compensation for the time and intermediate distances that are spent traveling to the workplace in Brussels or Strasbourg.
i watched the H3H3 podcast...where they interviewed him....hes such a goofball!!😂😂 Poor Kid is famous in his country!🤷♂️💯
As a German, I'll have you know, that we have representatives from a satirical party in the European Parliament since 2014.
As a greek I just wanna say...
Cyprus should have been annexed into greece!!! 🇬🇷😎💪🇬🇷😎😎🇬🇷💪💪😎😎🇬🇷😎🇬🇷😎🇬🇷😎🐒😎💪🇬🇷
This wouldn't have happened!!!! 💪😎💪😎🇬🇷😎💪💪😎💪😎🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷💪😎🇬🇷💪😎😎🇬🇷😎🐒💪💪🐒🇬🇷😎😎🇬🇷😎🇬🇷
there's a comedian at war you could've put that in the video.
He did a video called The Ukrainian President's Bizarre TV Show
Zelenskiy or Pootin?
I was going to go there. Shocking that Roman didn't think of it.
NFKRZ Greek confirmed 🇬🇷🏛️🏺📉
Roman when you get citizenship in Portugal run immediately to be president of Portugal
TRUMP is an example of this as well. Celeb status gets him votes.
This is almost like in Sluga Narodu when the history teacher became president.
Fidias definitely has some weird Elon Musk like leanings a bit but if you’ve seen the meme clips of him from H3H3, he’s one of the the most human politicians out there
I am not surprised. You should check a real gentlemen from Greek nationalist party (Nazi party) Fredi Beleris. A guy who was convicted in Greece in 1995 for having weapons in the trunk of the car which were stolen after killing two Albanian border soldiers, after attacking a base and stealing their weapons. Got convicted in Albania for desecration of national symbols around 2007, a case that went up to the European Court of Human Rights and the conviction was upheld, newly convicted again in Albania in 2023 for corruption and paying voters to vote for him in a local municipal election in Himara - Albania. Awaiting his appeal. He just won and became Eurodeputy for Greece in the European Parliament. I think this crazy convicted guy is even a more interested case of what a joke Greece is.
You're probably an Albanian and that's why you are spreading propaganda. ND is a center leftist party, nowhere near Nazism lol, fredi beleri was a democratically elected leader that is being persecuted by the Albanian tyranny.
In the last election, in Germany 2 comedians won in the election.
This is honestly hardly new. Ronald Reagan was appointed the 40. president of the United States in the year of 1981. Same thing.
And Trump in 2016
Yes. Also Arnold Schwarzenegger was a governor of California
Yeah and Reagan accelerated our descent into a Russian-style oligarchy. You guys should be worried.

Yes, that's called a democracy. Doesn't really happen in Russia, but people with conflicting views can be elected.
Finally someone who gets it, seems like the man can leave Russia, but Russia doesn't leave the man
Excuse me what...the Mr."I'll show you how to get a japanese train without paying tickets, oh no, am going to prison" is in the fkin EU parlament????? Cyprus why...oh God, he doesn't even have the stereotypical "Greek speaker trying to speak English" accent, he has a stereotypically heavy Cypriot accent too, we are truly doomed.
fun fact is that fidias and his family said that used to go to extremist right wing protests so take it as you may
He's openly talked about how he comes from a nationalist background but has now moved away from it
To be fair, UKIP were already becoming less and less popular. And especially when Nigel Farage left and started the Brexit Party, which won most elections in the UK’s EU elections.
Imagine his disappointment when he realizes those votes aren't views and all he gets is a stupid chair.
He will be paid really well to sit on that chair 😉
A well paid chair for the next 4 years
And some time before there was (and still is) also UA-camr Nayib Bukele, who became president of El Salvador and started a war against the gangs there...And made crypto a official accepted currency to use in the country (I am not sure what the term is, but the goverment officially made it a option or something so you can buy stuff with it as a standard option)
As a German I can confirm the obvious vote behaivor and as a son of a germanrussian hows born in Kasachstan: "kasachstan ist the best country in the world. All other countries are... "
Lol, pretty cool. 😂 To be clear, there def will be worse ppl than this guy in the EU Parliament this year - I know one from my country, who regurlarly makes a circus & is very cringe + unhinged. So, I'm more worried about those. This Yt dude is somewhat refreshing 😂😂
Not going to lie, most parties rn aren't any better than a UA-camr
This just proves that the social media is the best way of propaganda
Not like there is a test to become a politician. And with the freedom we have in the west to vote for whoever we want, ANYONE can be voted in.
I guess if he can be elected in, why can’t I? I’m thinking of actually running for fun
Shoutout to Artyom from Chelyabinsk
this reminds me of what plato said, 'a democracy of idiots will fail,' or something.
@exmuslimfromgermany it works well for singapore
Basically Cyprus politics are a mess right now and as a Cypriot i can break down some of the reasons why he got elected
-Corruption and Favoritism: Many Cypriots are disillusioned with the perceived corruption and favoritism entrenched in the political system.
1 To get less people from the political parties in the eu parliment
2 To have 1 less seat for akel which was for a Turkish Cypriot candidate
-And also lets not forget his popularity
If you are wondering if a vote him or no well I didn't since i was in Greece for a vacation and voted nobody. Would I vote him though if i was there, the answer is probably yes because i believe in that way the parties could get a message to do better for the people.
Edit: I forgot to mention i am 17 so even if i could and wanted i wouldn’t be able to vote
Thank you for talking about this.
I mean, is a youtuber really that different than any average politician that has no clue about what they're talking about?
Meanwhile in America - half of our politics worship a reality tv star whose show gilded his shitty business image. So much better.
A freaking Mr. Beast poverty replica makes to EU parliament! Absurdity and disappointment!
Thanks!
seems a horrible man lol
