Fun fact: there are rumors that the decline of Shaman was caused by his wife, who’s his PR-manager, and who’s currently divorcing him (that all the "negative" PR and actions was her revenge on him)
0:38 There's a thing I've never understood about Shaman: Why is he wearing a Christian cross if his name is literally "Shaman"? If he is Christian, then why take the name "Shaman" that directly references shamanism? Did the Kremlin give him that name to make him seem diverse and therefore tolerant to Russia's many non-Christians? Or was it just a trendy thing at the time that didn't factor in the pro-Orthodox-Christianity stance that the Kremlin would later take? (which they're trying to paper over now by having him wear a cross, etc.)
The Modern English word shamanism derives from the Russian word шаман, šamán, which itself comes from the word samān from a Tungusic language - possibly from the southwestern dialect of the Evenki spoken by the Sym Evenki peoples, or from the Manchu language. In my opinion it's not by mistake
Why did the kremlin think going pro orthodoxy would be a good idea? Many Russian are religious or just in name and a good 15% of them are muslims why alienate those people?
Ah yes. The times were great in the late 1800's early 1900's in Mother Russia! You could starve. You could get shot by the Tsar's home guard if you protested starving. You could go off to the front and fight without bullets, or even guns to fire bullets....and also starve. And if you made it through all that then ...pogroms and purges....and Stalingrad. Most of the people in all countries either have no interest in other countries or hate their neighbours because history. Russia's hatred of the west in general and USA as it's most prominent member is a bit odd, but falls into the latter. We were closest to USA in the worst time of our history, the 90s. A lot of people think this is not a coincidence. Majority of people here don't speak English and have a very vague idea of what you guys are like. It also doesn't help that it's rather hard and expensive to get USA visa and visit as a tourist. Also local people who like USA are a lot of times kinda obnoxious and cringe. However, it is really not at all fair to you, I'm too poor to ever visit, but judging by news, media, bloggers etc USA people are among the closest to russians in mindset.
Naaaah, they don't care about non-Christians

The Modern English word shamanism derives from the Russian word шаман, šamán, which itself comes from the word samān from a Tungusic language - possibly from the southwestern dialect of the Evenki spoken by the Sym Evenki peoples, or from the Manchu language. In my opinion it's not by mistake

Sadly there is a lot of country that consists of just listing things that are vaguely American or rural.
on god, honestly if I have to listen ONE more time to some inbred hillbilly waxing poetic about drinking sweet tea on the back of his truck while trying to get over his girlfriend leaving him...
9:13 oh i remember her for "Ты предал Бузову ради Грузии" song

Can't believe Shaman is already falling off. God damn love it. Also sad to hear Russian government not giving any help to Orenburg despite the floods that they had...
Fun fact, the Swedish Vikings that travelled south/east were known as Rus
Fun Fact: the TURKIC NOMADS that travelled south/west were known as BOLGARS
Are the Fact: that the Germanic Tribes that has invaded Roman Empire we're now as Franks
Are that the Fact: that Carthaginians that conqueror Iberia were cooling it Hispania
Right. Even that name isn’t originally Russian.
And Finnish call Sweden "Ruotsi", which looks like Rus.
@@ob_dowboosh Yeah, there's a theory that there's a connection.
What I've heard is that the term originates from either an area north of Stockholm called Roslagen, or from a old word for "Rowing people", there's another theory involving Gotland but I don't remember it.
Sweden responsible for installing bad habits among those peaceful forest dwelling Slavs who lived peaceful decentralized lives LOL.
What happen russia, you used to put out bangers like Katyusha and tri tankista and now you are driving out slop that would make what disney making look appitizing.
I mean...There are good military bangers like 333
Even the anti war songs of Kino are better (Blood Type, A Star Called Sun, Summer is Over)
USSR dissolved and oligarchs took over
You can clearly see where people actually cared and where people just wrote some crap for money.

I'm all for the babuskacore, man.
My favorite Russian artist is Russian Village Boys they make good music
we just don't know if they support the war or not which makes me sad. I enjoyed their silly music too.
dlb is great, too.
Found them through Joost Klein and I agree
You remember that Russian girl duo.. Tatu? Very important to my formative years. xD
They would be been arrested in current Russia for “destroying basic values and advertising LGBT” 😮
Thanks for doing what you do. You're amazing!
As a Russian id agree that something went wrong
It's official guys! The "Victory" tour is cancelled for Russia 🇺🇦
Ukrainian propaganda bleah
Imagine giving all your carrer to a dictator, and one day he decide you are now a problem and decide to throw you to the gulag xp
TRUMP? Right
Imagine being a child stuck in an informational echo-chamber and believing that parroting cliches is a demonstration of knowledge only to find out in about 15 years that you acted like a toddler in your 20s, using words, the meaning of which you cannot even guess, which would make you about 20 years behind your peers in intellectual capabilities and demonstrably so. That's where you're heading, mate.

Лето и арбалеты - шикарная музыка.
I have to say as an American this the first time I have heard of a persons first thought about us being the Brooklyn Bridge and Broadway not Hollywood (I get why this person might be broadway but like if you are not into engineering, urban transportation, nor history why the Brooklyn Bridge)
From Wikipedia: New York City is home to the largest Russian or Russophone population in the Western Hemisphere. The largest Russian-American communities in New York City are located in Brighton Beach and Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn. Brighton Beach has been nicknamed Little Odessa due to its population of Russian-speaking immigrants from the former Soviet Union.
@@rubysilver3299 I guess that does give better context than my organization idea
I'm Russian and I too find it strangely specific, but it depends on the person tbh. I like Phoenix because I watched a lot of Medium the TV series. And I tutor a girl in English (13 yo) and she isn't totally sure New York exists, she only knows of Washington DC and California. Not even specific towns in it, but like California in general.
@@rubysilver3299New York City also has a ton of.. Every ethnic group on earth.
